Richards looks like he's honestly enjoying playing on stage after all these years. He can't just be doing it for the money. The guy just likes to play. Keith has the best riffs in the business
The man is a fucking machine. I was at this show (my first time seeing the band live, the 2003 HBO special), and Keith was just on fire this night and this tour. The way he drove the end of "Midnight Rambler" home is seared into my brain forever. Amazingly, I saw them do "Monkey Man" last year at Met Life 2, and it was just as good. A treasure, Keith Richard is.
Yeah, without him it's not unreasonable to say that a lot of the open tunings that the old blues players of the 1st. 1/2 of 20th. century used to use would have been largely forgotten. He has helped perpetuate a style of playing for future generations. Thanks Keith.
What a masterpiece !!!…, just showing the most exquisite transition from rhythm and blues to heavy rock, the trademark of The Rolling Stones.. like having a musical orgasm !
Kieth is livin proof that rock 'n' roll greatness has nothing to do with musicianship. He is just and quite simply one of the greatest popular song writers of our time.
It's great to see the original artist play his own songs. By definition, they are not copying anyone, and he gets to make the song go the way he wants it to go!
I prefer watching Keith than Mick. Without a doubt the coolest guitar player in the history of rock 'n' roll. He makes it look so effortless and the sound he gets coming out of that amp are absolute beautiful.
Great performance. This was one of the tracks (outside of the obvious hits) that made me want to look deeper into The Rolling Stones catalog. Still one of my favorite Stones rockers !
Ronnies sound with the Stones has always been my favorite, love the slide on this song but with Keith here highlighted....there's just no denying how effortless he makes it look.
Monkey Man helps make Let It Bleed maybe my favourite Stones album. That's also influenced by hearing my brother playing it when I was 8yrs old. Sent shivers down my spine!
John Kirkland You seem to be pretty determined about that. Check this one out, if you have a few minutes, copy-paste in your RU-vid search field: MONKEY MAN (Rolling Stones) - 2015 - covered by Crashed & Cursed Just curious to see whether you kind of like this one also.
Keith Richards is one of a kind like we all are. Keith bless you have made so many people feel. Wow Great sound I love it ! You are in Guitar Bo'zo land and I hope one day to get there too ! Love people ...
I love this song, and like others here who think it's sublime, I could listen to the intro over and over. Of course it's not crisp here like the album, but still sounds good. They should play it when they resume their tour in later May. (Not that I'll be there, but maybe someone will film it.) The Stones have a whole bunch of great intros that I never tire of and give me chills, such as this song and Gimme Shelter. Thanks for uploading.
It’s about time this video is focused on Keith. I love him and Monkey Man is one of my favorite songs from the Stones. I’ll be there in Philly on June 11th to see them again. I hope they do this song.
Long Beach Arena.Summer of 1972. Giant Hot Lips Banner...and then- THE GREATEST ROCK AND ROLL BAND IN THE WORLD APPEARS... I know they did Midnight Rambler (FEEDBACK), and undoubtedly one or two others. This has always been one of my favorites. I hope they did it that night. I DO remember, Keith Richards having that presence. Thanks for posting
Thank you for posting this and thank you (whomever) that held the camera on the man that all true guitar fans and Stones fans are interested in. However, we can't deny that Ron Wood is an essential part of keeping the Stones in the flavor that we have enjoyed. Ron really deserves some of his own dedications; don't ya think?
Great song " All my friends are Junkies " The Golden Creative years for the Stones was when Mick Taylor was in the line up ! They continued with great music but listen to Exile On Main Street from song 1 to the end of the LP that was their greatest LP :)
Fair enough. It's just that I have been listening to and loving this song since the early seventies. I agree with you about the intro on the record - it's sublime!
Vickie S I agree Vickie , I Watched a documentary from the biggest bang tour and he has 12 guitar's and each one is tuned for a certain song and they say not just anyone can pick one and play it ,If you ever get a chance to watch it do so it's on youtube ,Salt of the earth, I think theres 5 of them i believe you'll like it , Also charlie has had the same drum set since 1968 it's very good to watch ,I'm just putting a little bug in your ear .
Mike Hand Will certainly watch , always excited to see something I haven't seen before when it comes to the Stones . Certain I will love it , thanks for the bug my friend .
When you say "I know I'm missing something", you aint missing anything, my friend! Taylor and Richards were brought together by God!!! And "Let It Bleed" is the greatest record ever recorded. By anyone.
This video (and others of the same time period) are probably the Swan Song of the Rolling Stones. And totally wonderful that it was captured on the latest equipment. The veterans at the peak of their power, showing how it's done. They're getting up there now (I'm 15 yrs their junior) & they'll probably do it 1 more time, sooner or later. My all time favorite band, but then again, we all gravitate to what we grow up with.
been a Stones fan for 45 years and I have always loved them all ..from Brian to Mick Taylor..Charlie..Ronnie...Wyman...Jagger..but I must say that what keeps me most interested in them now is Keith...could a person be more talented and so damn cool? :-)
Noons comes up with guitar parts like Keith. This one is up there in the worlds most supernatural achievements list or whatever you want to call it. I pity the fool that can't feel this.
His now arthritic fingers mean he re- interprets his own riffs, but he's always 'played in the moment' anyway. So he's still beyond brilliant! Q.E.D. !
STONES at their best great song "Well I hope we're not to, messianic or a trifle to satanic. We just love the blues. OMG one of the best rock lyrics of all time!!!
