I like how Arin has fully embraced the "One Computer on Easy and the Other on Hard" houserule Jon started, which Arin was initially reluctant. It's now a Game Grumps tradition.

It was 2003. My brother and I were playing this at a relatives house to kill time. He was a lot more strategic than me at these sorts of board games, but I did my best and held my own. The further we went into the game though, the more I found that I was completely in over my head. He had the luck of the dice and the foresight to save and invest. That led to his ownership of Park Place and Boardwalk. Ninety minutes into the game, I've nearly lost. I had 600 dollars to my name and hardly any properties. My brother on the other hand was covering most of the board. My turn next. I rolled and landed on a chance card. I pulled and looked with abject horror: "Take a walk on Boardwalk." The rest of my money was drained. I declared bankruptcy and thus, my brother as the winner. We then got into an argument over who cheated and whatnot that escalated into a fight. I didn't talk to him again for two days. This game ruins more than just friendships. It ruins brotherhoods.

I thought literally everyone went for the dog, though. I remember friendships being broken up before the game even starts, because of the fucking dog.

Grumps, can you please come back to this and do richest edition? It's an entirely different game with goofy little mini-games and would be highly entertaining.

I've literally spent weeks trying to find out how Dan thinks rolling double 6's is 8 pairs of snake eyes. It'd just be 6 snake eyes.

No one would play Monopoly with me when I was a kid so I would play it by myself. It was just me going around the board buying everything up and being lonely. Now that I'm a grown ass adult with friends I still can't get anyone to play this with me.

I wish this was Steamrolled.

Once my cousins, my sister, and I were playing Monopoly. I had over 50000 bucks in Monopoly money. Then my cousin decides to buy Park Place and Boardwalk and added hotels on both. I landed on Park Place. Bam, I just lost about 25000 bucks. Then I roll snake eyes. ONTO BOARDWALK. I lost all my money and lost it. Just lost it.

It's funny, after Jon left I was way removed from game grumps, but I started watchin again recently and I fucking love Dan, Ross, Barry, and Suzy (When I watched it was early Jon and Arin, then I came back and there was a whole bunch of new people)

So Monopoly has this neat mechanic where when you land on an unbought space, you may either buy it outright or auction it. Always. Auction. They will always overpay for it. Computer or human, they will overpay. Keep doing this while spending NO money. Buy nothing. Bid on nothing. Very soon, everybody else has no money because they've spent it all on all of your auctions. The next time you land on a space, auction it. Bid one dollar over the next highest person. You just bought a $500 space for $30.

Can people stop complaining about the thumbnails? The thumbnails don't make an impact on the content in the video, and they're not misleading in any way like other RU-vidr thumbnails are. There's nothing wrong with them - new or old versions. Just enjoy the actual video itself. There's better things to moan and complain about than a little photoshopped picture for a RU-vid video. :)

“There’s a reason it’s brown.” “Uh... Arin...” “Because it’s dirty!” Actually, that other reason isn’t too far off. The original version of Monopoly was called The Landlord’s Game and was actually pro socialism as opposed to the capitalist game we see today. As the game evolved the properties were named after a certain city’s streets (I think somewhere in New York?) and Baltic Avenue was, in fact, a poor African American neighbourhood, hence the brown colouration and low rent. TL;DR: Dan’s assumption was actually correct.

I have a pretty old computer version of monopoly and dear god does it blow this one out of the water. The pieces have animation and voice actors (very fitting voices too. The top hat is a 'sir', the moneybag is some shrewd business man and the shoe is an old man just to name a few), there's no creepy Monopoly man. There aren't as many cool boards (you can change it from classic to many different American cities), but there is a custom board option where you write in your own properties (I've made a pokemon, minecraft, meme and Nintendo board)
