I got my Away carry-on & bigger carry-on over 5 years ago. I did not know about Monos or Beis until recently. I took them to WA multiple times and finally to Thailand and Japan. My Away regular carry-on had issue with the wheel sticking and not rolling as it should. Sent in for repair and was okay after but still not quite as smooth. The telescopic handle is jiggly on the Away and shorter than would've like. So now I am consigning them through a website. They're in great condition. My next suitcase will be Monos back to Thailand. My opinion on the Monos carry-on pro is that you will lose a little room. Because the laptop compartment takes up space away from your suitcase realty. Personal preference.
Agreed on the carry on pro, that’s why i ordered the regular carry on. Plus I’ll be carrying my iPad in my backpack so don’t need a dedicated laptop pocket on my luggage
I bought the bigger Away Carry on for a recent trip to Key West. First time using this brand and I was pleased. However, I heard about the Monos so out of curiosity just purchased the medium check-in in Terracotta. I ordered it over two weeks ago and I still haven’t received it…so thank you for the info about expecting shipping delays. Looking forward to using it and your review was well appreciated!
Just a note that with the Monos carry on handle (at least with mine), it shakes very similarly to your Away carry on in this video. I'm not sure if the Monos medium check in luggage handle (the one in this video) is built differently but this is something to consider (a few others have also pointed this out once I asked about their Monos carry ons in a travel group, maybe checked luggage is a different story). And it's also $40 USD to return the Monos carry ons if you're unsatisfied (if you haven't used it yet). Thanks for the review videos of this one and the 10k mile one, I have some decisions to make. 🤔
fwiw i have the monos carry on in the larger size i haven't noticed any issues with the handle! i've had it for almost a year now and have been on several domestic and transatlantic trips with it without issues. love the monos!
Thanks for your comments on Mono luggage. I have some vacations planned for this summer and need to buy new luggage because the zippers have been destroyed by airline handlers. I got a kick out of the "monkey" comments. Many years ago our son had a "NOVA" car. We laughed about how it didn't go anywhere very fast.
Absolutely love Monos which I've been using for the past year; I purchased the check-in large & carry-on pro in ocean blue along with the metro sling. For trips under 10 days, I use my carry-on pro.
@@laurenmills9344 I was nervous about fitting but have had no issues on the large aircrafts on the smaller regional planes it's either been positioned horizontally or checked for FREE by the airline & I've used it on Delta, Jet Blue, American Airlines & TAP.
Such a calm way of talking, wasn't a fan in the beginning of the video, but let it play and got out of my own way and was open to your way. Great video, liked that it wasn't a review, more of an opinion and I like it. Also agreed, don't hold the water. Anyway, ordering Monos now instead of Away. Except if they have crazy delivery fees and the Away store is close by...
I honestly can't decide because the monos is 235 right now for the carry on and the away is 275... I think I'd prefer the monos but hearing it's in stock, I assume it's fine delivery wise. Also I don't really want to spend that much tbh.
Thanks for the video! I ordered the mono carry on pro, but I’m second-guessing my decision because I keep hearing the Usb charger for the away suitcase is such a deal breaker!
I wouldn't fomo the USB charger on the Away suitcase that much. Away only offer a 5v battery, so the charging would be extremely slow to gain any sustantial charge.
Monos is definitely better quality. You could always carry a small power bank with you. It's no big deal to have a usb charger on your luggage. You'll only use it when travelling and not when actually enjoying the city. Take care.
You can’t even leave the charging battery in the suitcase in case you check it in as they make you take it out. I find it’s a gimmicky useless feature considering there are charging ports literally everywhere at the airport and it’s more convenient to just get a power bank and stick it in your carry on.
Monos customer service is atrocious. One trip with my medium check back and it’s scuffed and chipped. Looks like I went to a war zone. Horrible company. Don’t buy Monos.
Have to agree with you bought Monos carry on and large luggage, tried to get in touch with Monos customer service and ended up dealing with bots that could not answer my concerns and if you need to make a return the procedure is made to be difficult.
I have the Monos check in medium in olive green and the duffel bag in oxford blue.I like the quality and ease of packing. I plant o use them when i retire in December to travel thru Europe. Take care
I can't believe how many people like the Monos luggage; they literally feel like cheap plastic and look terrible. They look great in photos, but in person they look bad... worth $100 tops.
Been using a tom bihn tri star for years. Partner uses an Osprey Ozone. But been thinking about upgrading it and also been thinking about moving away from a backpack style as I am getting older. I think I like the Monos better. Also leaning towards the pro as I there are some cool organizational features it looks like in the front, even if I don't use it for a laptop or iPad as that would be in my personal item bag usually. Although I am wondering if the added size will sometimes for me to check it
@@papadougpapadougsadventures got the monos carryon and loved it. Switched from my tom bihn now too. Greag luggage although I find it scratches easily but as cary on it is fine. Huge fan.
@@papadougpapadougsadventures just the carry on. I considered the plus but decided I wanted to ensure that it fit on all planes. I also did not choose the pro because i carry my laptop in the monos duffel.
