Wanted to do a quick video of some testing with the milliamp meter and the Monport Lightburn Board. Ran some test passes of engraving and cutting to see what reading we got on the meter vs the baseline testing without lightburn.

I'm really surprised at the issues you're having with the Monport board. Seems like it's more meant for a diode laser than a CO2 one as you should be able to engrave easily at speeds of 90-125ish mm/sec without needing a huge amount of power. I run a Cohesion 3D board in mine and the only time I'm running with the power set above 6mA is when I'm cutting 3mm acrylic or leather. all my engraving work I do around 4-5 mA at the speeds I mentioned before and get great results. And like you said you need to get your bed so you can reset your focal length to account for material thickness and you will get finer lines for engraving and cutting. Good set of tests though and keep at it, you'll get it worked out.

Yeah we are not super impressed with the board. If the power is under 30 it won’t even fire at those speeds. We have the cohesion board now and going to swap it soon.

Hi mate you read your second test at 12ma but it was actually around 7ma. Question for you, what size tube do you have in there? Max watts? How many ma should you be pushing it to? From memory I have my k40 set to max power 100% at around 13ma so I don't burn out my tube.would be nice if I am wrong and can run it harder.

That would make more sense on the second reading that’s for pointing that out. We have a 40 watt tube and the manual says don’t run over 70% I like to stick in that 50-60% range. So I have no issues going to 20 ma

I typically don't run past 15-16 mA on mine, stock 40W tube, just so I don't stress it to much and shorten it's lifespan.

@@ropeany1 Thanks Tom I thought that would be around the Max we should run for longevity.
