Such documentaries are an occasion for the Fellow Indians to watch, as it exhibits the pious lives and life of servitude of the kind-hearted Indian people, who were raised up in villages with the strict spiritual, disciplinary values taught to them by their Mother and Father and their forefathers and their Teachers in the Schools(both Convent and Vernacular medium). All thanks is due to 'The Lord Almighty' for raising up my beautiful fellow Indian Brothers🙋♂️ and Sisters🙋♀️ and also gifting Us with beautiful Nature and Monsoon, Spring, Autumn and different cultures and traditions.
I LOVE LOVE this documentary. I have never been to India but I know how important trains are for India, and monsoons. I hope I will visit this interesting, fascinating country one day. I don't mind heat, and bad conditions, I still want to experience it.
Thanks you for posting these two. My folks from both sides of the family were railway folks , from when it was the Bengal Nagpur Railway ( BNR) to Indian railways. Now some my cousins are still there while the rest of us are in the USA, Australia, Canada and the UK. Been all over India and lived my school days in Kurseong on the DHR..(Toy Train)
I was in Kharagpur from 1958-1962, when I was in IIT - I used to attend the Union Church on 4th Avenue - there was a Mr & Mrs Green who used to attend the same church with their two daughters (one was called Gillian, cant remember the name of the other daughter ). Are you by any chance related to the Greens. I think he was a senior engineer in the Rly workshop.
@@peterchan3100 The truth could be I am but I cannot say so for sure. I know of Greens from Chakaradapur{ CKP} to who I am related from my Dad's side. There were also Tucker's ,Davids's and Van Haeftans I am related to from KGP. Lots of crosspollination took place. My eldest son has our DNA tree and its an interesting list of the p;aces wheere each relative was born in and where they eventually passed away. My Dad was born in Lahore. before partition . he passsed away in Kurseong. WB

Idean Railways journey it is amazing really I enjoyed a lots since, 1991, 1992, from New Dehli towards to udaipur city, relax, safety and incredible cant describe in words, best Railways systems fantastic, indeed.

As you should! Traveling by air is most convenient if you need to get somewhere sooner than later. I live in the US and have traveled by air often. But there are times that where I am going is close to a railway station and I travel by rail as often as I can if that is the case. I love the trains, the people, the camaraderie and taking in the countryside as we go. You do have to watch people in the stations and on the train to make sure people are on good behavior, but for the most part, I really enjoy traveling by rail.

And there is one song which the CPRO , ER hums in the documentary, "Gaadi bula rahi hai, seeti baja rahi hai", from the Indian movie Dost(1974). Hope this answers ur query. -Z

To see India in it's glory and in it's problems you have to take a train journey. There is no country in the road that is so well and economically connected as India is with it's vast railway network. Even the United States. I enjoy just about anything about trains from all around the World as I find them, but the age of steam is very nostalgic to me. As you may well know there are many heritage private railways around the UK, there is one with easy access for me, which is the Ffestiniog And Welsh Highland Heritage Railway, mostly run by volunteers even from the original refurbishment of the old closed railway line in 1973, they moved heaven and earth to make it the success it is today. In what part of the world do you live?
I thought that United Kingdom railways needed updating, but I think India needs to do their updating just to bring the railways into the 20th century, how can a nation that has a space programme not have a modern infrastructure that includes a modern health service, welfare system, even running water and sewage system for everyone. This documentary was made in 2004. Since then, the Indian Railways have tremendously improved at an astonishing rate. Over 90% of the railways have been electrified, far ahead of the US and the UK. Cleanliness in food and water has never been better. Any problems faced during journeys - send a tweet tagging the Indian Railways, and the authorities will be there right at the next station. Most of all, our technology and steps taken towards environmentally friendly and efficient railway use by phasing out diesel-based locos and mainly operating electric locomotives has skyrocketed. It's certainly not free of problems, that's for sure. But when you have the 3rd largest railway network handling 25 million passengers from all economic and cultural backgrounds per day, it is a difficult task to ensure that everything will always go perfectly. Our country is riddled with many issues as well without a doubt - the issues which you mentioned are absolutely real and problematic due to corruption. But the picture this documentary paints is from a time 2 decades ago. We have changed a lot since then, and are actively working towards mitigating these problems that plague us.
