What would you do if you could make any modification you wanted to a Cessna 175? Ragwood Refactory took an old 175 and added modern tech using off the shelf parts.
When they deleted the mileage radius from Exp exhibition category that changed a lot of problems. The only issue I can see is insurance for full coverage. Liability only was what I had on a modified factory Pitts. Cool airplane. Makes me miss my '55 C-180.
How do I make my Cessna Experimental!? I was always told that is not possible. I like Cessna's but I love the freedom and technology and cost of experimental. I want more info on this topic!
We looked into it with our Symphony. You have to lay out your plan and ideas for what you want to exhibit/show off in doing modifications outside the original TC, if you want the Experimental Exhibition status from the FSDO. You can't just say, "Hey, I want to mod my certified airplane, make it experimental." We were planning to do this, but then we got the opportunity to purchase a Zenith STOL CH-801-HD, but our plan was to schedule to fly into Oshkosh and some other airshows, come up with a possible business idea for selling, and promoting these mods, and then pitching it to our DAR (which happens to be the same one as is mentioned in this video.)
