its coincidentally funny to think that there have been jokes that the mon hun capcom team's way of making ideas were like: "we need a new monster for the MHX title" "how bout this *shows paper doodle of eoder dragon with jet wings*" "perfection" and this way of idea conceptualization is exactly how capcom made a new title theme with just one word for MHX lol

I say the farthest back u can go, that I recommend, is MH3U since it's where the systems we hav with MH today started really shaping up; And where MH finally found its footing for its "identity". But MH4U or MHGU are also great starting points since they're alot closer to feeling similar to 5th gen aka World/Rise.

Please, Capcom and the MH Team, port Double Cross over to the PC. It has so many unique and classic monster that no one that has only played World and Rise has been able to enjoy yet. Plus the customisation is still THE BEST in the series. Let the whole world, old and new fans of the franchise, be able to enjoy what it really means to play Monster Hunter. Please, Capcom!

I'm hoping they slow the next game down to where it plays more like a traditional MH title, no wirebug bullshit. I don't have a problem with weapon arts per say, if they're reasonably well done. But giving every weapon a counter move is fucking retarded. The only thing I dislike about World & Rise armor skill system is that World's decoration were not craftable and that you had way too many skills at the end. Not only that, World and Rise sets had WAY too many skills in them, it was ridiculous, if they are willing to keep this system at least they need to balance it out better, increase scailing, decrease points per parts and please bring negative skills back, idk how they would work in this system but it added another level of complexity trying to work around those and I think bringing back negative skill is required at this point. You just get to be too OP with the new world system, and it was more fun to build a set, like in 4U. It's kinda ridiculous in world rolling around with 20+ skills and no negatives. I miss the negative skills :/ They really helped keep some of the stronger skills in check in a way we don't have at the minute. There were also some cool things you could do like use negative crit eye to make skills like rueful crit (brutal strike now) better or negative recovery speed to keep Red health around longer for resentment Right now most sets are using the same combinations of attack boost, WEX and crit boost. The lack of diversity is kind of boring and the right combos of negative and lesser used skills could really go a long way to fix that Why does WEX activate at merely 3 levels while being a lvl2 decoration? Valstrax Vambraces can have WEX at full. That's the equivalent of having a +10 skill on the old system. And that's the HR version. Going into Grank that's outdated and the armor needs to be even better. Hunters now have simply too many damage-increasing armor skills to use, and are able to stack so insanely many on a single set it's more than a little nuts. Enough to make the hacked-to-hell sets in 4U blush. Monster HP bloats in response to all the DPS stacking, and as a result it only favors more DPS stacking to compensate. We know where this shit leads - eventually you go off the deep end like Frontier did with AoEs, instakills, and then the game literally can't "progress" further, then just burning out instead. We need to start toning this shit down to something more reasonable and constrained. I would suggest a good place to start - first make environmental effects actually matter again, and have the items that traditionally allowed you to ignore their effects outright (Hot & Cool Drinks for instance) only dull their effect and not negate it, to begin restoring value to the non-DPS skills. For instance the hot cool drinks situation. Without them the hot cool regions offers literally nothing and not different than normal map. Just as background decoration. I am not necessarily ask for them to be back, but cool and hot regions should be offer something different than regular map. Like make the ice part slightly slippery, ice-y water inflict ice blight or something. Then there's issue with monster always on map which take away finding the monster and remembering their favorite spots, and in multiplayers you work as a team to find monster location which feels nice. Gathering is now so seamless to the point you don't even notice you are gathering materials. You literally can run while gathering. Again, this doesn't meant I want the clunky side of gathering to be back, rather Capcom should redesign their gathering mechanic so it'll still impactful while being smooth during hunts. Also I think Capcom should revisit the season cycle system like in old game where there's breeding season, hot season and cool season which change monster spawn. The old season system lock quests and maps based on seasons, which should not happen again but maybe tie seasons to quests itself and only changes spawns in expedition. Furthermore, bring back 4U Wyporium feature that let you trade monster materials that don't exist in current game the like of Lagiacrus armor weapon set for feck sake, or Yama Tsukami even, like brah, you could bring Rathalos or Khezu but not other favourite monster in the franchise?? Some people obviously don’t, but I feel in MHW, the abundance of skills makes it less fun to build a set. In no means do I hate the new system, I have almost 1400 hours on a single save, but I just prefer the old world system. I also dislike crit boost, because with it, your entire set becomes focused on that 1 skill. I just really miss the old system with negative skills, I feel like it added even more options, since there were specific armor sets where the negative skills could potentially be a non factor or even be helpful, in the case of negative affinity/draw crit. I feel like negative points adds more variety to the game since you don’t see 1 or 2 sets running around. First played 4U about a year and a half ago, got to HR 200, did some CQs with funny clear conditions, and spent about 100 hours after that doing level 140 GQs. I understand how the endgame works for all games past 4U, and in Gen/GenU, it’s crit focused. You can’t go a hub without seeing people using crit focused builds unless you’re in early endgame, or in the story. In base World, you saw 4 piece drachen crit focused builds. In IB, you see 4 piece fatalis with every effective crit boosting skill they can get, then maybe peak performance or attack boost. But in 4U, really the only thing I remember seeing a lot was a HBG set for pierce ammo. Otherwise, there were at least 40 sets I saw, each varying from the other. The main skills I saw were Honed Blade, razor sharp, and attack up L. That alone is really easy to get, and let you go for literally any skills you wanted after that. Evade +3, HG earplugs, tremor resistance, etc. Yes, I get that there was still a meta, but it was much looser than in games released afterwards. Hard to swallow pills: Monster Hunter is loosing it's charm and is becoming more and more a Boss Rush Hack and Slash game, you don't even need to prepare yourself to hunt, no more farm is just part of that, do you remember the last time you ran out of time in a hunt? It could be a 15min time limit nowadays and you still would beat everything in 7-10min max. 3rd and 4th gen were peak Monster Hunter, World still has a lot of charm but Rise seem too easy?! You fall and recover instantly, the game just shows to you when to capture something, you don't even have to investigate, at this point why does it has a limping animation? You actually had to pay attention to the monster's reaction. Remember bringing paint balls? With the new open map style it would be so cool if you had to go to the map highest point to search for the monster at least once. Infinite inventory, have no more potions? Just go to the camp and pick some more, back than you actually had to read the monster and learn how to "dance" with it so to not run out of potions, i remember searching the map for materials to craft more potions in the field, it took time and effort. The actual things that are welcome are infinite Wetstones, Net and Mining Gear, although I think they should still occupy a slot in your inventory.
