Sounds like you’re doing what I did bud. Don’t hoard the mats. Easier to just spend the mats for stronger weapons then hunt for it again 10 times then to fail 10 time trying to save that one single part. I was hard stuck of legi for days bc I didn’t want to waist purple Anja parts and was stuck on dia for hrs bc I didn’t want to blow purple legi parts on a new bow… now I’m ripping through them no dmg lol. Also I’m rocking mostly like g2 armour. LOL who needs d if you don’t get hit right? 🤙🏻

Thanks for your kind words! I had the privilege to play this game a month earlier because I live in one of the 4 countries that the game was soft launched in. Bow gameplay is a mixture of both old mh(stand and charge) and mhw (charge-slide) so I thought players may need some explanation. Hope this very basic tutorial video helps!

japan had monster hunter explore which was probably the closest thing we'll get 🥲🥲🥲

They tried with Explore, which was actually a very fun game, but it was a Japan exclusive and even had an exclusive weapon in it, I wish it would have released for us too

No i actually play with full gyro and i keep hold my phone normally like how you would when you scroll through fb/instagram haha. For extra stability, use both hands, just make sure that your non-playing hand doesnt touch the screen though.

divine blessing, artful dodger, and concentration....aim for gears with those perks.... that's what i build for bow, add reload speed if u play bowgun, but with artful dodger u might not need to reload normally, and perfect dodge instead :D

Hey there Kelvin. If we're talking about being cost effective, raw bows are the way to go. While you sacrifice some dmg(when compared with elemental bows), you do not need to many 1 bow per element. Kulu for pierce Diablos for rapid, depending on what suits your playstyle

@kelvintan37 yeah those are fine. Anja bow uses spread and I used it in my demo gameplay. Rath uses pierce. So at this point it really depends on which playstyle you prefer. Both are fine!

It's really all about practice! A way is to hold your phone with 2 hands but make sure to keep your left thumb away from the screen.

Im not too sure if concentrate is useful because for some reason our special attack pales in comparison to the other weapon's special attack. Maybe swap it out for more element/raw dmg?

@@shawnzyplays yeah, i saw that there was a build with the head and chest piece being pukei's, the arms being kulu, the waist being rathalos and finishing with the legs being jyratodus. I was going for a full set of anjanath before tho but i was just gonna focus on making that set for using less zeeny and material cost

@@SaviGSenpai there is no bonus for using the full set, its better to see what skills you need and use the corresponding armours instead.

There are not many bows to choose from. Essentially it depends if you want to go with elemental bows or raw bows. Raw bows are cheaper-overall, but compared to elemental, it does lesser damage. Raw - kulu for pierce, diablos for rapid. Elemental - seems like there's only 1 per ele except fire. Anja for spread, Rath for pierce. Ultimately it depends on which shot type you like.

I'm using the Pukei Bow currently, as I'm farming for the Head + Chest piece anyway (the Focus Skill makes you charge faster) and so far the extra damage from the Poison seems to be helping, too.

@@tmujir955 if you want to be resource-efficient, i'll say raw bow. But at the later stage, its easier to use elemental bows as they deal more damage. Hmm both spread and pierce are fine. Spread requires you to be close up to the monster while pierce requires you to be at least mid range. I dont think either is better, just preference. But seeing how monsters like to run up to you during a hunt, perhaps spread would be better?

it gives you lv 3, you'll still have to charge or charge-evade for that last level.

i have played lbg during closed beta and back then bow wasnt available. When this game softlaunched for me, i saw bow and thought to give it a try. And now im suddenly a bow main. haha! Bow does feel better. It is more consistent in terms of damage output since we dont have to waste time dodging and firing. With our charge-evade move, we combine both dodging and charging/firing into 1 move. Its awesome!

with full gyro you can always aim for weakspots. Wings are usually the weak spot.

hmm Focus skill helps you charge faster. The rest should go into damage skills(ele attack if you're using elemental bow). At the beginning, leather chest at grade 2 gives attack so thats great.

@BaeDontCry9x how do you do it? Common error is that people use 2 fingers, 1 to charge and another to swipe. Another error is that they lift up their finger to swipe. The way to do it is to tap and hold, without lifting your finger, drag it across the screen and release.

Yup if you're too near the monster, your dmg will drop off. Yellow crosshair= good. White means you're too near/far. Elemental bows are definitely stronger. The downside is that you would have to make 1 weapon per element and it's expensive. So this is something to consider.

Always go with lv 4 shots whenever it is safe to do so. Spread lv 3's dmg should still be lesser than rapid 4.

Do you mean the "reset aim" button? tapping on that would just recenter the monster.

Yeah any bow could do that. It's not a skill from any armour piece.

You need tap and hold , dont lifting u finger then drag it across the screen and release. I was just like you before but Shawnzy share me how to control it and then you will be able to do it

yeah like what @BaeDontCry9x said, tap and hold, and with the same finger on the screen, drag it across(without lifting!) and lift finger only at the end of your swipe. Its just 1 finger throughout the whole process. Also keep in mind that your other finger should be off the screen and not accidentally touching it.

Common mistakes are that players .. 1. Use 1 finger to charge, lifted up the finger to swipe 2. Use 1 finger to charge, but the other finger is accidentally on the screen. 3. Use 1 finger to charge and another finger to swipe. 4. Tries to charge-evade without charging at least one level. You should tap and hold to charge and while your finger is still on the screen(don't lift it up!), drag it in one direction then release. For your case, perhaps you can drag it further across the screen if it doesn't register.

@@shawnzyplays haha sorry bud, was eating at the time but to clear it up in case anyone wonders the same thing in the future. In the vid you said rapid is the easiest bc it just shoots 4 arrows i.e 4 “ticks” of damage. And from what I understand easier = more dmg bc of the time restraint and all. But prior you said spread does 6 and pierce does 7. So I just wanted to clarify whether you meant easier in regards to the position or does it some how do more dmg another way? I’m just getting into bow so I literally have to build everything all over… been a LS since tri on the wii… but I’m finding it’s not for me here 😭 it took me forever to build all those dif LSs so now I want to be careful with the resources lol.

@sovitaseng5519 yeah positioning is easiest for rapid. Close-mid range is usually the distance between the monster and you. Plus all your dmg is on the target where you aimed it at. Spread is diff. You need to be upclose and the arrows spread out based on where you aimed. If you aimed the head, maybe 4 out of 6 arrows hit it and 2 arrows hit the body. Pierce is alright. U hit where u aim but the arrow penetrates the body so if u aim for the monsters head, maybe only 2 ticks deal good dmg and the other 5 deal white dmg.

Ive seen some players stick with poison and went all the way with it. If you like it, sure stick with it!

@@narunyang I'm sticking with Poison as well atm (Chapter 11), if you want to go for focus early you'll need a lot of Pukei Pukei Mats anyway (Head + Chest Grade 4 + Jyura Boots already give you Focus 3) and the Pukei Hands + Waist give Poison Attack too. So it felt like a natural pick to me. I am a bit biased though as I love the Pukei Armor's Look + Pukei is my favorite monster :'D

Nope. Recoil and reload both does not affect bow.

tbh i didnt even know you can turn gyroscope on and off in the phone's setting. However, i dont think there's any other ways you can aim without gyro.

Both works, just different playstyle. If you like pierce you should stick with it. Just make sure to always create distance ok

the ranks dont affect anything though. Its better to get used to the monster's attack patterns and see how best to improve instead!

I assume you meant charge 3 as in lv 4 shots? Just some context first.. tap only = level 1 shot tap and hold, circle closes in once = level 2 shot circle closes in twice = level 3 shot This is when I will evade because when i perform a charge-evade move, i continue to charge up(as i slide) and when im done i would be at level 4. So this move allows me to reposition myself from danger and fire off level 4 shots. After firing, tap immediately to fire a powershot. Its not due to evading. So if you want to, you can charge and fire off and immediately tap to fire a followup shot(powershot). However, i would advise to get used to sliding around because it keeps you safe, and your powershot shoots out faster too. Hope this helps!

Hi there! It is because whereever you aim is where the arrows go. With spread, you shoot 6 arrows at lv 4 and some arrows may not hit the target if you're too far away. Spread requires you to be really near. I'm not shitting on spread. Spread is good but comparatively to rapid, there are things to consider. For pierce, you need to maintain a distance for best damage output. Pierce shot is 1 arrow that hits multiple times as it travels thru the body. However not all monster weak spots are huge. So you may only hit the weak spot once or twice while the other hits just deal normal attack. Once again, not shitting on pierce. Some players like pierce and that's fine. It's great at piercing through monsters and breaking their backs. Great for monsters with huge wings or long body too. Same as spread, piece just requires more thought and positioning.

You could do it with the most basic bow. Hmm how do you do it? Some common errors that I've read is that the player used another finger to swipe, or that they lift their finger, just to tap and swipe. You should tap and hold to charge, and while your finger is still on the screen, drag it in a direction and release. So tap, hold, drag, release. You only contact the screen once. Give it a go and let me know if it works ok!

I am currently using diablos bow. Rath helm, chest and waist, kulu gloves and jyura boots.

I recommend using this 3rd party website(not done by me though) -> mhn.quest/ Essentially you can just click on the skills you want on top and it shows you what armour has it. For bow, you'll need maybe 3 focus at least, and the rest goes to dmg. Hope this helps!

its not fair to judge based on the numbers in the video because the different bows are of different levels. At this point in the game, there's really not many choices out there for the elements. 1 for each, 2 for fire. haha My preference is probably rapid but im trying to see if i could make pierce work. Love to see the damage ticks :)

@@shawnzyplaysStill trying to decide what to play and invest my resources in since I am not going super hard and you made a good case for Bow. I'm between that, longsword or sword and shield. Feel like those 3 weapons (and maybe lbg) take the most advantage of doing dmg while negating damage. SS has fast dodges and can just block. Longsword can do its dash slash to negate dmg. And bow charges its damage while evading.

@@trojanmandan7206 sns would be the safest imo. The attack animations are short and you can dodge and not get locked in the attack animation. Sns has been nerfed before global launch though. Long sword is great. However, the attack animation is longer compared to sns and if you missed the timing for your counters, then you would probably die(at higher difficulties) Bow is cool, im bias towards it so i'll skip my opinions on it. LBG is great since you're at a distance away. The damage is decent too. The only drawback is that 4/5 equipment slots are locked because recoil reload 3 are meta atm. Any lesser and its no longer fun to play (shoot too slow, reload too slow). That leaves just 1 slot open(waist) and you cant do alot with it tbh.

@@shawnzyplays Been actually really enjoying bow, however sometimes when I do 2 charges and evade, it doesnt do my lvl 4 attack it just does the lvl 3. Happens like once every 3 times, even though I'm charging the same amount.

@@trojanmandan7206 Whats your focus level? If it is at 3, then you should be able to evade right when level 3 starts charging and fire off level 4 at the end.

If the monster is not weak to fire, then only the raw portion of blazing bow affects the monster. In this case, Diablos bow would have the higher dmg.

for all bows, i would recommend at least focus 3, and the rest to damage skills.

I think if you can shoot 2x charge 3 shots for every charge 4 shots, it's worth using charge 3 shots

definitely jyura boots. When upgraded to lv 6, it gives focus 2. Add another focus from pukei. After that work on getting your damage up (either by element attack, or attack/crit)

@@shawnzyplays yeah that worked. I did try but I must have been doing some of the failure points you listed. Much appreciated on the guide. I was doing bow all wrong, not charging it up. I thought I had to let go when the reticle was smallest.

Full for sure. Bow deals good damage only if you aim the weak spots. Semi does not allow you to aim up to the wings. Semi is good if you're already very strong and you're fighting monsters that is too easy for you. E.g you're at 7* and you're fighting maybe a 4* or so.

If you look at your bow's stat page, you should see charged shot. Using Diablos bow as example Charged Shot: Spread Lv 1 Rapid Lv 2 Spread Lv 3 Rapid Lv 4. tap once during a hunt = lv 1 tap and hold to charge once = lv 2 charge twice = lv 3 charge 3 times = lv 4. The shot type depends on the bow, and how long you charge it. Some bows have the same charged shot for 4 levels. for eg, Anjanath bow has spread for all 4 levels and Tobi kadachi bow has pierce for all 4 levels. The levels also determine the power of it. S23 ultra. I'm sure it's possible. It's just 1 finger - tap, hold, drag(swipe), release. From beginning to the end, you only contact the screen once.

@@shawnzyplays i see, i think it was bugged initially because what would happen was my hunter would just stand there and fire and not dodge even when swiping in any direction (only using one finger), on day 3 of official release it just started working doing the exact same movement so thanks a lot for the tips, it was driving me crazy
