@@8Kazuja8 I FINALLY got access to an Xbox with Gamepass and tried out World to get my hunter reflexes back for Rise and... Ancient Forest sucked all of the joy out of my body and ate it for breakfast.
@@DairunCates I don't understand people hating on the map design of World to this extent. It is gorgeous and easy enough to navigate. Plus we can teleport between camps outside of combat. I never knew so many people struggled this hard with it.
@@mango9260 There’s nothing wrong with liking to use the Glaive, it can be a very fun weapon to use. He just doesn’t like that most people that play it don’t use it “effectively.” Preferring to do the weak spinny attacks in the air instead of doing good damage on the ground.
@@s.bregnest2857 I feel called out cuz that's exactly what I do in most hunts. I mean can you blame us? It's a lot more fun. Tho I do understand that I am in co-op so ig it won't be everyone's cup of tea
@@s.bregnest2857 see in world pretty much if it wasn't lying on the ground I was doing the helicopter attack because it got up mount damage and even if I wasn't the one to mount it was still great to help get an attack that dealt tons of damage now I found myself on the ground way more often since the monsters not only seem smaller there isn't really a "mount" system anymore
@@Beltorchika12 It came with sunbreak update* If you didn't bought the dlc you still have the option bc it was an highly requested QoL feature that doesn't add any content
The best thing i've learned about Rise is that there is an Okami event quest. By clearing the quest "Rising sun?!", you get materials for a layered armor that turns your palamute into Amaterasu. That's not the best part though, it also makes your palamute leave behind flowers when it runs at full speed, and the attack animation are replaced with your palamute using the reflector shield, glaive and rosary whip.
@@giannicolamatteo8155 I beat Cynthia, every time. Wait, what do you mean domestic violence doesn’t count?? Hey, who just broke down my door? Wtf why are there cops, what’s going o-
As you venture into areas unknown, pieces of the puzzle that is the rampage begin to fit together. These creatures were not simply trying to run over the village. They were trying to run through it to get away from something. This horrible thing that even elder dragons would sooner flee from than confront. As you grab your weapon and weigh whether to fight or flee the beasts haunting call rings out through the landscape, shaking you to your very core. "Hey Pard!"
Or more likely were "telepathically" (read electromagnetic waves fucking with their brains) controlled as a sort of army to attack the village rich with resources, perfect for a nest.
Technically thats the plot of MH1 too "Giant scary dragon trying to destroy our village, we gotta stop it!" *20 hours later* "Oh, it was running away from an even scarier dragon and we were just in the way"
Ah, yes, the "ara ara" twins who literally sneak into your bedroom to try and surprise you. Good to see Japan is taking notice of what what we westerners focus on.
@@gektoast4968 Even giant Spiders, a giant Mantis wh can control a Mech-like construct, a dragon with a jet engine, a dinosaur with a Greatsowrd as tail, Mammoth and much more.
Using 2 Gathering Palicoes when you're out hunting is so amazing that at times it feels kind of broken just how many materials you can acquire, It also makes it way faster for farming materials to craft talismans.
Story of Rise. "Hey your home town is gonna be attacked by a horde of Monsters in a little while and we kinda like our houses and lives so... go stab shit" I like the fact that... A : Your character seems to be FROM the town your defending B : Everyone has personality C : because your from the town and everyone has personality, their congratulations when you do cool stuff feels more genuine. For once you really feel like your defending your home, which is similar to World in a way as well. Everyone here in town knows who you are, what your doing, and is aware of what is going on.
Yeah its even mentioned that everyone in the village is essentially like a close knit family/friend group. They all have their own little unique dialogue that fleshes out their personality and seem so proud of you even in the start when you just became an official hunter.
@@j.a.r.5974 yep, your not assigned to it, you did not pass out after a fight and then decide to stick around, and you did not set sail here on a boat to solve a mystery. This is your town, your people... and they act as such.. even treating 'Tutorials' as 'refreshers' or exercise. So as a result the game treats you like you have probably played before and doesn't talk down to you like your an infant with a big Twig on your back. Which makes the stakes for battle feel that much more important... Even the freaking UMBRELLA seller has a unique personality and has the important job of being part of the 'Close the gated!' group. Couple that with the Villagers who follow your orders to Man guns to shoot giant monsters and you have a location that feels more natural. Particularly compared to all the 'Hunter' npc you see join you in some World quests who just load cannons and then wave at you instead of FIRING THE CANNONS!
@@belmontzar right? It's the fact that they willingly join the rampage on your command even when putting their lives down. You can really tell how close they are
I don't understand why people hate weapons that do good stuff. Like all of the 4U-related "Je suis monte" memes about Insect Glaive players, mounts give more openings so what's there to complain about? So yeah "that" weapon in his tier list will most likely be the Hunting Horn.
@@vermillion6159 It's not that it does good stuff, it's that many forget to do anything else but that good stuff. Imagine if you will fighting a monster and you are a party, and there is one person off to the side just playing music. Yes they are helping in a way, but could be doing more. That's a 1/2, 1/3, 1/4 of your damage gone as well as possible stuns. With the insect glaive mounting was nice but with how mount damage scales after one or two mounts they should be going for triple buff and going in, not doing less effective jump attacks anymore. That's why people have issues with some weapons. It would be like say... A g.sword player never putting the thing away after swinging and slowly lumbering around.
I've always had a horn user in my friends that played. But they were the, get in there and toot while bringing down the hammer kind. When I played with random, it was the, hide off to the side ones. Even more annoying in the games that had the double notes you only get when hitting a monster. In a game like monster hunter where damage matters as much as survivability, having one person not helping with that damage will rub people the wrong way. But good on you for being a battle mage over a white mage. We really do need more of your kind.
@@ReikuYin people legit dont use the HH to smack monsters even NOW? when the HH is actually super fun to use?! dude as a hh main those guys have missed the point
@@ReikuYin I played MH Rise all the way through with the insect glaive to give it a try, since I've never been a fan, due to low damage in the air, making it feel pointless. honestly, I feel that IG air damage is no where near as bad as it used to be and is exceptionally consistent, not to mention safer now. so until a monster is tired or flopping on the deck like a fish, I try to keep my buffs up and put out as much damage as I can from the air. It's worked well and I still haven't failed a hunt, or felt like I'm slowing people down. Mounting actually hurt the image IG should have had in the first place tbh and Rise removing it has made it feel like a way more balanced weapon on the ground and in the air.
The moment they started speaking and emoting in unison, I was like, "I don't care how nice your singing voice is, nor your quirky obsession with dango. You two are creepy! >:( "
Honestly the two things I wish they kept from world are the ability to reorganize your item wheel thing (the one where you swop between items with y and a), and the page that allows you to see which parts are breakable on a certain monster
The fact that someone either scott or his editor took the time to edit in mario bros super star saga hammer noises I just cant even begin to say how much I love that thank you for the nostalgia lols
I had never played a Monster Hunter title before this one. Honestly, I bought it for my bf who likes Monster Hunter, and I gave it a go for fun. ..It uh.. It gave me a huge obsession. Rise was super beginner friendly, and I've already got so many hours into it trying to beat as many quests as I can. It's super great.
I was gonna say, “it’s probably not gonna happen.” But then I remembered we actually have The Witcher 3 on Switch, so I guess its not exactly impossible.
I liked the feeling of actually spending time to gather honey and items in Monster Hunter Tri. Each flash, each mega health potion, everything I farmed took a little bit to get and so made them feel more valuable. It took like 0.75 seconds per gather action. Shit was lengthy back then, but I somehow miss it. I miss the tools breaking too, tools that I had to craft and bring with me onto gathering missions or hunts.
What personality? one likes to eat and the other like her sister, that its. people like them because they can lewed them. The weirdest part is everyone acting like its something more when the reality is that gamers have always been, and always will be, creepy immature pervy weebs.
@@commandernomad2817 nah the handler had negative personality, she acted like the protagonist of girl power fanfiction And characters don't have to be complex to be charming, if your conversation with them are a consistent and entertaining, what more could you want
@@commandernomad2817 You're confusing backround with personality. We don't know a ton about them or anyone in the village for that matter. But the bits of dialog we get, the way they speak, their mannerisms, and the small tidbits we do get on their backrounds make them charming characters.
They sneak into your room at the start of your game for some fun. And at the end they're about to have some incestuous fun with each other. They are far from pure.

Aidan has killed Kushala, failed to kill Gore Magala, and is the only person in the game to fight a Fatalis if we exclude the player. Theres a chance he might show up later on or is given a reference after the dlc drops.
Monster Hunter Rise is like the perfect mix of classic Monster Hunter and World, and I think that is one of the reasons why I think so many people who were hesitant of the series are getting into it with Rise.
I can understand why people who came in from world might be less likely jump on this new one...my main issues is that I don't got a switch to even play
I said the same thing in the demo. This is what I wished world would have been as an old school hunter. So long as they don't drop the ball with the elders(no MMO damage race/instant kill/cinematic uber attack mechanics please!) This stands as my fave of the serries alone or with friends. Tho like Scott said, give me Gen customization on top? Hell yeah. Tho this is a great step forward.
It makes the game arguably 10 times better, just that alone I rather have a shorter game thats constantly good instead of one that drags out with annoying stuff
At least when hammers hit the skies, they actually do decent damage. Unlike a certain OTHER weapon! How do I mount the monster more than you when I'm a LBG!!!
My brain melted while trying to break mizutsune forelimbs so i can get mizu claws because apparently they're twigs made of pure steel that are constantly moving around and/or hiding behind the head. Not even sticky spam could save me. I haven't touched the game since, mainly because I got really into Dark Souls around that time.
LOL! MAN.... coming back to this video after finally getting into Rise and having a blast... I forgot Scott hated the Insect Glaive... Which ended up becoming my go to! I just need to do the last main hunt with Valstrax on my game, not someone else's hunt. Can't remember if I saw the other follow up vid. Time to see.
Oh yeah. Hunting horn main, I honestly treated that thing the way that most everyone else treated the Great Jagras in World. It just felt fun to beat up the bird.
I like this game's even more streamlined hunting process, but I kinda missed some of MHW's small touches that this game didn't keep, like monster introduction cutscenes with your character in it, a functional blacksmith workshop (and other buildings) that you can see, wildlife that you can catch as pets, hunting guild's aesthetic changes during events(although this one could change in the future, given that rise is new and doesn't have an event yet), being able to observe captured monsters in your village, etc. Also, while MHW went lazy on the weapon designs, rise slacked off on armour designs, all armour sets have only a low rank and a high rank version, and there's no aesthetic changes between the two versions. Please rectify this mistake in the future Capcom and give us access to every armour sets as layered amour as soon as possible. You are breaking us fashion hunters' heart.
@@Dark0space I'm actually enjoying it well enough so far; there's some fun little bits of kit that make it great to play around with in this one. Definitely cautiously optimistic about it's place on Scott's tier list tho. .-.
I literally swapped my main weapon from big huge blade to gigantic hammer because it’s just so much funner to use thank you Scott for changing the I think
