Quick additional note: The counter rising slash consumes switch gauge but also refills some on a successful counter, as shown in the video! Also did you catch my Rise slip up at the beginning? 😂
I'd like to make sure there is both a ps controller and xbox controller mainly because in world i tried using your guides but i couldn't for the life of me correctly translate ps4 to xbox controls
I would love to see a Lance video. I love the new additions and attacks they added making it even more offensive now. Especially the fact that countering is built INTO the basic blocking now. That's so good.

It should be noted that any source of Exhaust damage alternatively deals Stun damage depending on where you hit the monster. I refer to this as Impact damage, as to better explain this. Impact damage done to the head (or equivalent) applies Stun. Impact damage done anywhere else applies Exhaust. This is to better represent the relationship between the two status ailments because they share the same sources of which they’re applied. Just in case anyone was confused. Also it’s to be noted that Impact damage is NOT Blunt damage. All Blunt attacks deal Impact damage, but not all Impact attacks deal Blunt damage. Yes, you can KO monsters with Exhaust coatings on Bows and Exhaust Ammo with Bowguns.
The update to the switch axe brought a few things to it that it was sorely lacking in World: defensive options (offset and counter) and a great way to charge the "battery" for the sword. Huge wins. I will definitely main this, provided it doesn't somehow get nerfed.
Really thankful for the timing of this for PC release, this is a huge time save for having to figure out some of this on our own so we have more time for character creation optimization
One thing im wondering for the INSECT GLAIVE(please do that one next) is if they brought back the Kinsect Nurture thing. Rises biggest problem is that is missing along with the projectile marking. I always opened up with that in every fight back in world bc its good to have backup. But. I miss it. Insect glaive aint the same without it.
I thought I was doing pretty well and managed to take down Rey Dau fairly early... and now thanks to your guide I realized I wasn't even utilizing a tooon of awesome moves with my favorite weapon haha
Man, these guids are god-sent. I am new to Monster Hunter and don't know anything. I just started playing the beta yesterday. I used SH in the beginning, but it felt too ordinary. Tried the Longsword, and it seemed as if I am Vergil from DMC. I want to main CB or SwitchAxe. However, I think I am not using them right. These videos and a bit of practice would make me really get in the zone.
Hey Arekkz, I havent read the comments so I apologize if someone asked this already. After ZSD can you cancel when latched on to avoid the long animation? You lose the last explosion but I'm sure you can cancel it in World which then lets me combo again. Keep up the great work!
No wirebugs make menworried all my cool counters are gone but seeing the panic counter and counter rising slash being included in the new moveset is welcoming
general question, as a pc user i dont have access to the open beta just yet, but i was wondering, when you hit a wound, does it automatically trigger the special wound attack or do you need to press a button before hitting the spot?
When you're in focus mode there is a button that will do the attack. I don't know what it will be for pc, but on console you'd use the right bumper to hit the wound and it triggers the attack.
Hope The Lance got new moves as it doesn't feel like it did, compared to the other weapons. It's a bit mixed as it feels like old ways of playing the Lance are much more clunky or nerfed now then they used to be While we have some old moves I would have liked them to have changed. Shield Attack from guard cough cough. Pretty much High Thrust, and Guard Dash have a slower recovery time Guard after mid or high thrust is slower compared to world Leaping Thrust feels stickier and it only does two ticks of damage instead of three You feel slower when attacking out of Power Guard Viscory Thrust needs more Reach Shield Attack needs to either gain more ok damage and be able to leap like the leaping Thrust or change it to Shield Charge. Dash attack need an option to Shield Bash like how shield charge has a option to shield bash Lastly, why does LS get Hyper Armor? Otherwise I'm having a fun good game, love how they made the world, hope to see more, just feel like they missed on the Lance a bit.
I can’t get it to latch on when I do my element discharge for some reason being amped doesn’t seem to work either so idk what I’m doing wrong I’ve played swaxe for the past few games
They turned the sword mode into Nero's Red Queen sword from DMC lol especially with the tomboy devil breaker Now I hope they have a collaboration with DMC and add Red Queen as an swaxe. They already turned Alastor into a charge blade, so why not this?
i love me some switch axe, but i've fallen in love with great sword and my second has to be a bonker (horn or hammer) so idk how much i'm gonna use it in the full game. i'm sure i'll work to build a nice one after i'm satisified with my GS/Horn/Hammer... :p
