Geoff is a genius! I am old enough to have watched Bobby Picket do it originally on American Bandstand. Loved it then, love Geoff's version now. His wife Kathy was there on the couch through the whole thing, she is a trouper, too. Maybe if you do a short with your daughter, you can be wearing your Halloween costume. Then we can all see it!!
The choreography is the movements we associate with the old time monsters. Frankenstein's Monster holding out his arms, Wolfman howling with clawed hands, Dracula holding up his cape in front of his face, and the mummy with his arms crossed. Glad to see you liked this. He is definitely a freak of nature in the best way possible. He also covered Headless Horseman, Ghost Riders in the Sky and this year Jack's Lament from Nightmare before Christmas, for Halloween songs. And love your costume idea
Geoff actually filmed this one twice. After the first, he started editing and hated it. So he went back to Pattycake Studios and used an expanded set, more colorful lighting and slightly different costumes. Also (probably the thing that bothered him the worst) Kathy looked much less dead in the refilming . But Rick Underwood wasn’t available to do makeup for a reshoot, so Kathy did her best with his makeup. The music was never in question, but Geoff is a perfectionist.
Sebs you really need to hear the original by Bobby " Boris" Pickett. I don't know if there is any video for the original. I have come to enjoy Geoff's version.
This is such a fun cover of this song. I love rewatching it just to keep looking at all the small details the "geoffettes" add to their performance. Like how the middle one keeps scratching his ear, and the right one flossing at the end. XD
I'M IN SHOCK!! Geoff is such a brill singer too!! I just never expected him singing the song adjoining himsself in making of FOUR people, just excellent! I've never seen him before. Not only was he a brilliant singer but real fun too!!
Geoff is genius and ridiculously multidimensionally talented. Check out his new release Jack's Lament and Voiceplay's new release Hellfire!! They're both incredible!!
Geoff is more than an amazing bass. His range is incredible. Check out Voiceplay’s cover of The Oogie Boogie Song and you’ll hear his powerful tenor voice too.
Geoff's cover of Jack's Lament is absolutely amazing! The vocal acrobatics he does in that song will take your breath away! If you didn't know anything about Geoff, closed your eyes and just listened to the sound, you'd swear there were at least two or three different people singing, with how rapidly he moves from one verse to the next, and how radically different each vocal part sounds from the one you just heard seconds before. He moves so seamlessly between his different registers.
For choreography, you really need to check out his cover of Elvis‘s last song he released which was “Way Down”. He surprised all of us. It is really entertaining. I love the original of monster mash. I grew up with it but I don’t understand people who think that Geoff should just be copying the original. Please note, this is a cover not an imitation of the original (which is also excellent). I don’t understand people who don’t understand the concept of a cover bothering to watch a cover. They can both be great in different ways.
The lady at the end is Geoff's rl wife. She has gone deaf during the course of their relationship. They did a really interesting video of hearing loss over time everyone should see
She also does live chats with their patrons sometimes, she just did one a few days ago that is well worth checking out. She is an essential part of the whole machine that is Geoff Castellucci and VoicePlay! She talked at length about everything she does as their production manager, and let's just say that they have a million moving parts & it's her job to wrangle them all until the final product makes it into the hands of the general public.
I'm dressing up as a granny at work. I have the silver wig with the big pink curlers. The purple moo moo nightgown and the the slippers. I have the cane and the glasses.
I have a 5 year old!!! Beautiful age! My little wants to be an astronaut when she grows up so for Halloween this year she wants to Be a Astronaut in a rocket ship! So I'm gonna go as an Alien!! 😂❤
Oh, I love the Obi-Juan-Kenobi. I'll be a gypsy. Although after Hellfire that might not be wise. 2 yrs ago I heard RU-vid music for the first time and it was this one. I went to find what else Geoff had done and found VoicePlay doing Hoist the Colours, followed by Dragonborn Comes, and My Mother Told Me. I've been following them nearly every day. At that time there was a VoicePlay list of just over 800 videos and maybe 25 or so of Geoff solos. I tried to get all of VoicePlay at that time and thought I had. I have since found that I missed a few but not many. I got all of Geoff's solos. One that might tickle your child is In the Hall of the Mountain King. Has trolls and a cauldron that they throw things into, when they do it changes the music style, tempo, character of the trolls, etc. It is a delight, not scary but way fun. Hellfire is from the Hunchback of Notre Dame and WOW. In spite of it being Disney it is age inapropriate. Jack's Lament from Nightmare Before Christmas is wonderful. Watch all the way through.
Anybody see the "body" lying next to the Geoff on the left? She's played by Geoff's wife and she moves during the video before she screams whenever he hits an extra low note. :D
love geoff and the group he sings with: Voice Play. i would have to say tho that the imho most perfect song done by geoff is Sixteen Tons where he clones himself like he does in this vid, but it's one that just gives you shivers. perhaps one day you can react to this one.
Have you listened to The Tenors with Lindsay Stirling's cover of Queen's Who Wants to Live Forever? Another one guaranteed to make it to your Halloween playlist.
I love Geoff's clever version with new steps to the dance based on each of the Big Four Universal Studio Monsters; Dracula, Wolfman, Frankenstein's Monster, and The Mummy.
I’m going as a catholic priest with a preteen pretty boy. My wife is going as a Florida school teacher with a teenage pretty boy. We’re not asking for candy, just condoms.
