Very well filmed and respectful narrative. Good and blessed are those who are patient. But don’t forget that one man’s pass is another man’s trophy and meat for family so we shouldn’t judge. I shot my first buck this year a descent basket 8 point that I was thrilled with and thankful that another fellow hunter passed on during muzzle loader season. We as hunters take the chance of nothing to pass on something another would love to take. Hunting is the ultimate act of patience and choice.

I have been out to the farms that I hunt on for the last 4 years in west central Illinois. Simply put there is very little deer sign on all my farms, and they are spread out pretty well. My farms have decreased in deer populations since 2009. Hunted these farms for years and if you did not see 5 different shooters in a 10 day hunt, you were sleeping. Went out again this year just to scout the farms, and still not much sign on any of them. I have made lots of friends out in Illinois over the past 20 years. I keep in touch with all of them and what I found when I went out there again this year was spot on with all my buddys farms. The deer have not recoverd from the bug that killed them. A few of my local buddys booked hunts with outfitters who filled there ears with what they wanted to hear, only to come home and tell me, no luck, Did not see many deer at all and only 2 bucks in the 120s. The outfitter blammed it on everything from the weather to a late rut. The deer in west central Illinois have not come back yet. At least not even close to where it once was. I think it will take a few more years before it starts to get good. Yes you could go out to Illinois and shoot a giant, but in my area the odds tell me you wont. Best of luck to all who chase these wonderful majestic whitetails. And congrats on harvesting this giant, he is a stud.

damn you've got some skill putting that arrow right where you want it. Ive been seeing the dedication you've got to be able to SLOCK a buck like that and get it all on film so I've started filming my own hunts. Great buck...but they are two different deer being called big louie...one is very wide several inches outside the ears and the one that was slocked is very narrow

Trying to figure out.. how there was an arrow sticking out of the deer, when the slow mo footage clearly shows the arrow passing completely through the deer?

Great video and hunt...ok the buck at 2:32, referred to as" big louie" , is clearly not the same buck that was killed at the end in the corn field? And you did refer to the dead buck as big louie?? It was an awesome buck, but the first "big louie" was much bigger! Nice to live in the land of the giants....

Am I the only one who noticed he did t shoot “Big Louie” like he claimed? The buck from earlier in the video had split G2’s, the one he harvested didn’t.

What was the score on that 9 point at the end, had a very similar buck on trail cam this past season. Only real difference was the one on my cam the beam tips crossed so had a negative tip to tip spread.
