Monsters of High Gain '13 - Engl Amps Fireball 100 

Its called "Monsters of High Gain" and you guys are complaining about high gain.

This is probably the best sounding head from this series

Ola has come a long way sense this video.

I still own the ENGL Fireball 60 and along with the Fireball 100, these 2 can be considered enraged beasts in every sense of the word!

This is the best metal tone of all this serie's video, to me. That amp truly grolws, so nice!

actually, ola has one of the best tones on the entire internet. he's an audio engineering wizard. and in this vid the amp was probably also set to a sound he would use in a mix, that's why it doesn't sound too good. have a look at this, a mixed demo of the fireball made by him:

The clarity overall of The EVH is better, but the solid presence of this amp is amazing. I give this one the win myself. The mid range is nicer here.

I have been using the Fireball 100 for 7 months and this amp just kills everything that's more expensive. Some people say that ENGL amps sound muffled. Actually they do if you keep the Presence knob under 12 hours. I use it with a mxr 10 band EQ and it cuts nicely through the mix. As for the "only two channels" thing. A boost pedal in the clean channel and you have a beautiful crunch. 4 channels ? Don't see any usefulness for my use (I play in a Prog Metal band so no, I'm not using only the lead channel). Great amp, great quality and not overpriced like Mesa.

I love how they specify the Bright switch is for the clean channel only, yet they feel the need to specify it's position on the dirty settings.

I like the rawness of ENGL amps from what I have seen but need to try some out.

Not sure about the fb100, but the fb60 features red LEDs, so it may only seem that way.

Didn´t know about this ENGL´s amps..Great demo...not too much talking, but great nd clear playing and testing... Love A deep low tuning! D tuning is like Pantera´s sound!

If you are considering getting the Fireball 100, don't. At $1800, you might as well wait another month or two to get your extra $500 needed for the Powerball 2 and get that instead. It would be better in the long run for twice the channels, and twice the knobs.

so i was told to trade out my jcm800 because it didnt have enough gain.. for this? im like 100% mine is incredibly more gainy. I prefer it for thrash anyway.

can this amp get a good modern metal tone at bedroom volumes? not necessarily whisper volumes but low enough to keep from killing every one else in the house.

Okay, is it just me or are those tubes biased WAY hot? The tubes of my Mesa Rocket 440 are slightly orange and I've been worried about them. These are straight red.

All of them sound killer, it's a matter of personal taste.

So? The 6 string is this video is not tuned to drop d, it's tuned to d meaning all strings are tuned down one step.

I liked this and the Diesel most. The Randall sounded decent, but in the video seemed as though it lacked head room. Just my opinion. The orange didn't sound too bad considering.

These amps are all great but you can buy a Peavey 6505 combo and stick a V30 speaker in it and it's just as good for a lot less money.

I have this amp and it is insane!! The cleans are good but thats not what you want it for. You want it for in your face METAL!!

I'll tell you guys what I do to get this amp to compete with any $3000 amp crunch tone-wise....a subtractively eq'd mxr 10 early in the fx loop to get some of the nastier resonance out and a wide open ts-808 out front (I also use a ts-9 to get that extra push over the cliff for leads)...keep the gain lowww...these things have way too much gain...that set up gives me the most brutal, most MUSICAL metal tone I've come across in my 20+ years of playing...I won't sell this thing because of it
