Monsters of High Gain '13 - Orange TH100 

It’s nice to see Ola washes his hair when he’s on RU-vid these days.

I us3d to not like orange due to their over simplicity. Now, this is the exact reason I like them. No hours of “tweaking” to get the tone.

I have a TH30... I was slightly put off by the 1 shape control, but I can tell you... it's all you need. It does the job. You can do Van Halen to super saturated death metal.

As much as i like the other amps, it's almost impossible for me to beat the Orange. Love this amps so much.

In my experience, Orange amps sound best when the power section is really being pushed. With the volume only at 3 you're not really getting the full effect of what this amp can do.

Orange Amps just sound RIGHT.. .all the way down to the tiny terror/dark terror. Those little amps are one trick ponys but they sound GOOD for that one trick. I would love to own this head!

I love how simple this amp is.

ive got one of these, the sound only comes across a tiny bit on this video. its a beast. i always use a EQ in the FX loop which i have constantly on to dial it in perfect. the single eq knob gets u to some nice tones fast but find tuning is impossible without EQ.

I play this amp through a Tele Deluxe. Its one of those amps that really depend on the guitar you're playing. He's got some really sensitive pick-ups. I was able to get a really good "modern metal" tone out of it

I once played an Orange Thunderverb 200 (200 meaning, Watts RMS) through an Orange PPC412HP8 'High Powered' Cab loaded with four 100 Watt Celestions (not belonging to me) using my black Fender Telecaster '72 Deluxe loaded with two The Creamery Wide Range Pick-Ups, Heavy Gauge (four wound) strings Drop Tuned to 'A', lots of High Gain, pretty much all the way, and lots of volume and it was... Lets say, it's what it would be like if you knocked over the Devil's pint... Insanely brutal.

@Jake Pow Using an overdrive at 100% volume & 0% drive/gain is a very common practice in heavy music. So I'd think it would be fair to demo the amps with and without an overdrive.

all the demos in this series are great..i dont think you can go wrong in purchesing eny one of these high gain monsterz.i think the marshall is the best bang for your buck though, its more versitile than the others and holds more tones. thanks ola and premier guitar.

i had the Engl and it was awesome, but it lost something on stage (tone) so i sold it and bought the EVH 5150 III halfstack and DUDE, what an amp!!!! the Engl sounded better in my living room, but live it turns into a BEAST. i picked up the 100w version used for $1850 (head and 4x12)

The ONLY thing I don't like about this amp is that it has a tone shape knob instead of a 3-band EQ. But obviously you get extremely good tones out of this amp anyway, I would use the crud out of this amp if I had it.

The TH100 has a nice warm tone to it, me thinks it would be great for hard rock as well as metal.

If this amp had better eq options and 6l6 power tubes it would be my favorite one in the shootout. I personally really like the tones that these can get, just a little fizzy for me. I do play relatively low gain tones for metal though.

I own the TH100, and it's pretty cool to have that limitation of controls. Instead of noodling around 10 eqs, you just dial in someting cool and play, and you don't have to worry if something moved a tiny bit. My Diamond Nitrox is a nightmare to dial in if the settings are messed up.

I love me some Orange tone... I personally like the Thunderverbs a bit better for my style. Had no idea the TH could be used for Ola's style of playing. I'm sure a lot of people will be like it's fuzzy and sounds like shit...but hey Orange is known for their Crunch and unique tone. Not the sterotypical 6505+ or sound you get from Mesa's.

My thoughts exactly. Like you, I could work with it. I certainly would take it for free. But, the blackstar and the Engl were beasts! that's what I want for that kinda doe!

I like to watch a lot of the amp/head demos and I've come to the conclusion this guy is the only guy who does them right. Most of the time, the videos "feature" some dickweed who doesn't know how to play and is just screwing off. This guy knows what he's doing!

That's one sick amp. It has 4 EL34 tubes though (and that's what makes it so awesome) not 84's. Refer to the Orange website in case of disagreement.

also isnt there ways to make an amp like this tighter? like putting an overdive pedal in front of it or something? I love the loose sound as well though

Add a BBE Sonic Stomp to this baby and you have an awesome sounding Amp ! It does Metal (all kinds ! I swear) / Hard Rock / Punk and even more. Very good job from Orange

This and the EVH 5150 are the top 2. Diezel would be in that list ,but the price is utterly crazy! the EVH can do everything that it can.

Oranges have a really thick, dense overdrive sound. EQ'd right, it sounds amazing for metal. Just like it does here. It doesn't sound as focused as the other amps which gives it a very open midrange. That was pretty much all he was saying. Oh wait. I forgot to read your username. Carry on.

Wondering why this was done at half power? The difference in tone between 1/2 and full power on my TH30 is HUGE! The power reduction ability was a big feature for me when I bought this, but whenever I play it at anything less than full power / 4 tubes I find it sounds thin and grainy. So it's a feature I don't even use. I love my TH30 though... I guess I like that I can play it cranked all the time. Wouldn't be possible for my situation if it was 100 watts. At full power it gets nice & thick.

Classic british sounds for me. It sounds brutal for rhythm riffs with deep lows and excellent for metal bands.. I want to get it! I love it! I want 2 TH100 heads with 4 cabins 4x12, please. Right now!

Never palyed the TH100 but the TH30 rocks, the combo sounds boxy, but the head, through a 412 is awesome

this is how metal should sound. dirty, sludgy and raw. full of life and emotion. Not some over produced and fake sounding digital bullshit like most modern metal bands

this one is actually affordable since it's made in china. it's like 800 bucks. getting an OR15 soon myself, recently fell in love with orange, but can't afford/justify a rockerverb.
