Hi everyone! Just wanted to correct a mistake that was made in the video! A few years ago, the ‘TOP Torre 1’ skyscraper was completed in Monterrey and is currently the tallest skyscraper in Latin America (305m). However, it’s soon to be the second tallest because another skyscraper in Monterrey is under construction called ‘Torre Rise’ and the height is planned to be 456 meters! The skyscraper we showed in the video is currently the second tallest in Mexico, soon to be the third. One thing for certain is that if you like skyscrapers, Monterrey is the place for you! Make sure to check out our first Monterrey video if you haven’t already! Saludos amigos 😊
What a crazy mix of modern city and old world charm - and not to mention the mountains as well! Love it guys, Monterrey definitely just jumped up on our list of places to go!
@@krystalanderic oh dw lol, rusas are not alcoholic drinks lol, vampiritos on the other hand are, but they still taste really good without alcohol. should check them out if you guys ever visit
Don’t let those “barrios” fool you, those in particular are not poor at all. They might not be at the same level as their bougie counterparts but those people live a comfortable life too. Anyway, very cool tour/video.
You're right about rock music being important there. I am traveling to Monterrey from the US in a couple of days to see The Warning in concert at the Showcenter Complex in San Pedro Garza Garcia.
Nice! I remember you saying on our last Monterrey video that you wanted to see them in concert in Monterrey! We didn't know about them until that comment, and have been listening to them ever since! :) Great band! Enjoy the show!
Thanks for your positive outlook on Monterrey. So many travelers don't understand it's spirit. We are currently working on an inherited house here for an early retirement base and so excited to soon be immersed in the city.
Nice to hear from travelers who appreciate Monterrey as much as we do. Could easily live there! Good luck with the house and early retirement, you’ve got an awesome spot for it. Cheers!
Don't forget to go every Sunday at San Pedro to the Sunday mornings walk. Street name is Calzada San Pedro. They close the street and people go walking or bike ride. You can also have yoga classes and dance classes. Enjoy. Every Sunday from 8:00am until 1:00pm aprox.
Thanks for showing love for Monterrey! Honestly it doesn't get much attention by foreigners because it's not a "touristy" place like CDMX or Guadalajara, but having living here for my entire life I know for a fact that it has so much to offer to all travelers, like yourselves! I really enjoy seeing you guys enjoying your travels through México. Keep discovering this beautiful country!
@@BramMMA They are both really great cities. Queretaro's economy has been on the rise for the past years. Monterrey on the other hand has always been Mexico's economic backbone with a great quality of living. Honestly what I would recommend would be for you to try both for a couple months maybe so you can find which one fits you better.
Well said, completely agree! We were so surprised at how much fun it is to visit. Not just the incredible natural beauty but the city itself. Such a nice place with a great quality of life. You’re lucky to call it home. 🇲🇽 😊 Thank you friend, take care!
@@BramMMA Being from Monterrey I will be biased. These are my reasons to vote for Monterrey: 1. You will be closer to the US border 2. There are many American commodities here and you will not miss US so much. 3. There are many outdoor activities such as hiking and mountain biking because of our proximity to the Sierra Madre Oriental mountains. 4. Economy is booming, specially if you have something to do with manufacturing. However, in the summer Queretaro has much better climate as Monterrey will be scorching hot for at least three months per year.
@@BramMMA Both are great, but I will recomend you Monterrey, because: 1: It's more modern than Queretaro in many aspects 2: Has better quality of life 3: Monterrey it's like a "mini" USA, because it has many American companies, brands, stores, etc, so, you will feel almost like home 4: Is the 2nd most important city and is the industrial capital city of Mexico The only problem of Monterrey is its climate or temperature, it's almost extreme especially in summer.
Nice, yeah those mountains are really something. We visited Tijuana briefly back in early 2018. Would really like to get back and explore more of the Baja Peninsula. How do you like Tijuana?
@@laurenandseth Well, it’s a very large city and I gotta admit it’s not perfect but I knew that already. This place has an excellent nightlife though, great tacos, friendly people, low cost of living, and there’s more.
The horsetail falls is amazing! Great advice on blending in as a tourist, as a Canadian I’d be out in full beach attire, too hot 😆. I really don’t think mountains and Mexico, but that’s kinda ignorant of me considering where Mexico is. The mountainous area does have a Hawaiian look to it 🤔. Mercado market looks like a fast way to pack on some vacation pounds 😬, tons of goodies! You guys always find some interesting places to dine and choose great looking cultural dishes. I wish I wasn’t so picky, I’d likely starve while abroad. It’s great for comfortable you are with public transportation and not relying as much on taxis or even Uber. It really shows how much you trust Mexico and I bet that trust allows you so much freedom while on vacation. It’s funny how little I know of Mexico, San Pedro Garza Garcia is a wealthy location and I’ve never heard of it. Honestly I’m ashamed I’ve not heard of most places outside Mexico City and resort cities. Great video, happy travels!
san pedro is one of the whealthiest location of all latin america, From mexico all the way to Argentina, San pedro looks so similar to the game map of GTA5 Los santos downtown, its small but really beautiful buildings, small mauntains, and wealthy beautiful houses on the mountains... I know gta5 is Los angeles, but its so similar to san pedro. Now that you metion hawaii, you could visit Mexico Quintana Roo (Rivera maya) Its like Hawaii but instead mountains we have crocodiles, jaguars and many animals in the jungle, And the beaches, oh man those beaches are so CLEANN and transparent watter... Mexico, Quintana Roo is the second place most visited in the world after Dubai... Tulum is the most beautiful beach in Quintana roo, and in some rankings (not all) tulum is rated to be one of the 5 most beautiful beaches IN THE WORLD... There you could visit the mansion of Pablo Escobar the world biggest drug lord, and really cool piramids You dont need to go diving to see corals and big colorful fish, You have them right infront of you on the beaches So if you ever want to visit hawaii but dont have enough money you could visit Quintana Roo, Its the same as hawaii but cheaper... with 2.5k Us Dollrs you could bring 5 people, and its enough to buy food, transport, and nice hotel in front of the beach for 6-7 days I went to mahahual Q.Roo 6 months ago with all my family for 7 days, we spend 2 thousand dollars in total, we stayed infront of the beach
I'm from there, buy one because after some years prices go up like crazy because the city is constantly growing, we have a house we bought like 10 years ago for like 15,000 dollars and now it's worth like 400,000 so it's a good investment.
It’s a great one to visit! Puebla City, Oaxaca City, Merida, San Miguel de Allende, and of course Mexico City are some other great ones to check out! So many amazing places in Mexico!
Mexico is such a beautiful country. Chilaquiles are one of our favorite dishes! Monterrey looks like a fantastic area and it’s no wonder you keep going back! -S
You visited places that even I, being from here, do not visit and that are very popular with foreigners from other parts of Mexico who live here, like the area around market! A place that will grow and is still at a good price I acquired a property is Santiago Nuevo Leon which is a magical town and many real estate agents mention it will be the new San Pedro but keeping its picturesque touch so it is sought after. The new buildings under construction in areas such as Sta Lucia and Barrio antiguo are still in pre-sale at prices still relatively affordable. These areas are part of the rescue of the downtown. Sta Lucia for families and Barrio Antigüo will have its hipster touch. In 10 years it will undergo a dramatic change
Beautiful area, not that we have seen anywhere in Mexico that hasn’t been beautiful! You got some great views everywhere you went! Those mountains at the end were incredible!
Lauren and Seth, we just love y'all so much. This was another beautiful video that made us fall in love with Mexico all over again. Thank you for the work you do. It matters. Hugs from Florida. -Ben and Ang
Just wanted to complete what they mentioned about cabrito, it´s actually an acquired taste. Many people love to eat it from an early age, that was not my experience, I started to enjoy it until I was 18.
Thanks for the video. I watched your Monterrey videos before moving here and you helped me prepare. I really like Monterrey and the people have been helpful and friendly. I didn't like the Cabrito either lol, but maybe I need to try it in taco form. And I recommend Tacos El Chino Calunga, that's my favorite tacos is Monterrey so far. Hope to see you around, take care!
Awesome! Thanks for the tip, we'll try Tacos El Chino Calunga for sure. Adding it to the list. It seems like it would be a great city to live in for a home base. Glad you're enjoying it. Hope to see you when we're there next for sure. Cheers, friend!
Hey guys, great video Thanks for sharing We definitely have to add this to our places to visit 2 Canadians living in Mexico, Merida, sending support Cheers J&D
Good timing we're about to board the night bus to Monterrey! Also we only wear jeans and normal clothes in Mexico, walking around in shorts and flip flops makes you a target for crime and everyone also would rip you off hahha
@@ellvis6897 Chipinque it’s a short drive from downtown up the Sierra Madre, lots of hiking trails and awesome views, Cola de caballo in Santiago (shown in this video), Grutas de García (caverns about 20 miles west of Monterrey), La Huasteca, it’s a valley surrounded by mountains about 20 minutes from downtown
I like that in mexico they charge a fee to head to restroom. Someone in charge maintenance and keeping the toilets in decent condition it helps from people destroying these bathrooms.
Thank you so much for making this video! My English BF will come to Monterrey for the first time in a couple of months, and this vid serves me perfectly to show him what the city has to offer. :)
Thank you! Yes, Cafe Iguana was my favorite but I haven’t been to very many music venues in Monterrey yet. I love the atmosphere at Cafe Iguana and excited to see more in the city! Cheers!
A great video. What an impressive city and having so much nature nearby is unique. I have seen tons of videos on Mexico and what I noticied about this one, from the very beginning, is that you give the prices of different things, especially the bus fares. That is very important. We can see how inexpensive some things in Mexico are and how you really don't need a car to go to a lot of the interesting places. Good job. You probably already know this, but ganza in Portugal is cannabis. And it is more of less legal as long as you have a small amount and are not a grower or dealer. Wow, a large pizza for between 3.85 USD and 5.00 USD. Even in relatively inexpensive Portugal, where I live, it would be hard to find a large pizza for less than 10.00 USD, unless you buy it frozen at the supermarket. God, public transportation is so cheap even in a city with a relatively high quality of life and with the highest salaries in Mexico. In Porto, Portugal the lowest fare is 1.60 EUR and even with that they need government subsidies. How can a metro system even break even with fares of 0.21USD? They probably don't.
Thanks for the great feedback. It’s good to hear that others benefit from the prices being listed. As budget travelers, we are always wondering about prices in an area so we include that. We briefly visited Portugal and loved it, would love to come back. Yeah, and what’s really something is that many consider Monterrey too expensive, especially compared to other parts of Mexico. I found it affordable, like you said especially considering the great local economy and quality of life. Very impressive. The pizza was a surprise for me too. They have a lot of non-franchise pizza joints that are really delicious and average under $5. Crazy!
As a Mexican, I would like to thank all your points of view about that beautiful state of Nuevo León and the metropolitan area of Monterrey, I am glad to see that you had an incredible time on your trip and that you recommend such places as foreigners, it fills me with pride to be able to see how more tourists visit my country, great video and God bless you
Hi guys!! thanks for this amazing video of my beautiful city Mty :D i am glad that you like my city, and i like the way you explain everything so clear about each place you visited in Monterrey :D
Thank you guys for visiting my city, not many tourist come here since we don't have much colonial arquitecture, most of downtown is not touristy like mercado Juárez se you showed. Just one correction, the tallest building in Latin America is TOP Wich is in Monterrey county in the Obispado Area, the one you guys showed is the second tallest in Mexico and 4th in Latin America
Y'all are always finding the most awesome places. I didn't know much about Monterrey but it looks pretty amazing. I have learned a lot about Mexico from your channel over the last year. I loved the I SPY travel vlog game too!
Wow, great way to show my city. Very nice narration of every activity, I wish you the best of lucks, this channel will be top very soon, I am now subscribed.
Just found your channel, love the way you actually show the sights of the cities and not just talk about it. I am putting Monterrey on list of places to visit
Hey I'm from santiago I'm living on south carolina the next time if you thinking go back let me know I got my brother's there and they can't take you to very nice places! God bless
Thanks for the great video. Monterrey is a lot enjoyable from the suburbs, a lot of people like me prefer not to go downtown, there are many good restaurants and places to drive or to go around the city.
What a blast! I hope to go down there sometime soon. My parents are looking for a second home to retire at Palm Springs, but this seems like a superior option
Great video guys! As a native of Monterrey, really love to see that you guys went out of your way and explored some surrounding areas to get a better feeling of Sultana del Norte. Other nearby places recommended to check out are Matacanes (great water canyon), Grutas de Garcia (amazing cave formations), Boca de Potrerillos (archeological site with indigenous petroglyphic) and Arteaga (another Pueblo Magico). I currently live outside Monterrey, but seeing this video got me nostalgic :).
Downtown Monterrey is in the process of renovation. The tallest building is not Koi, that is only the second tallest building in Mexico, Torre Top Obispado located in Monterrey by the Obispado area is the tallest building in LATAM but Rise is already planned next to it which will surpass it with 200 m more. There are renovation projects and the city, if you have seen, has a lot of construction emerging new residential buildings with commerce. The ugly areas will be displaced to other parts and will change the face of the center. But MTY has many better ones.
Thanks for express a nice vribe of my city many other Americans just express the negative about not only my city but, all Mexico. hope you had a great time.
Thank you for the video. I’ve been to Monterrey once as a youth my ancestors were the founders of the city. The cabrito is what I remember the most. I live out side San Antonio Tx and I can’t find any cabrito like it’s cooked down there.
Monterrey, was born there and just went there to visit last month. There are some great affordable Airbnbs with all the accommodations. Uber is so cheap and if you combine it with El Metro, you can get anywhere. I went there for the City's Clásico. And later today there's going to be another 'Clasico" with Tigres vs América. Tigres is always a sold out event, and the energy is so intense. How I wish I was there.❤
You guys are no longer tourist. When it gets to 50 degrees here people are in shorts. I loved that face waterfall, never seem a waterfall like that before. Really cool how they give towns special designation. All the food you highlight is so good. In college I could have used that hangover preventer. How are the mask and vaccination rules over there? Starting to open up here. You guys are officially Locals since you use the metric system. Thanks for taking us around.
I’m so proud that people came to my hometown! Monterrey is lovely and people is so kind! I lived in Monterey, then moved to Puerto Vallarta (where I love it too), then moved to Dallas!
I'm from Puerto Vallarta which is a tiny Mexican paradise, hidden between mountains overlooking the pacific, you should come and visit us! I'm currently living in Monterrey and your guide is extremely good for tourists, me and my girlfriend will definitely visit Santiago!
XD XD ;)
Don't forget that Monterrey, NL is also an excellent city to eat international food, since we have Taiwanese🇹🇼, Vietnamese🇻🇳, Thai🇹🇭, Indian🇮🇳, Arab🇸🇦, Lebanese🇱🇧, Israeli food🇮🇱, etc. For those who really get bored of local food like me and prefer something exotic, but delicious. I recommend you take a look at Pholicioso Vietnamese Food in Distrito Tec and you will be delighted with its seasoning and flavor. This City has it all. 🏙️🌄 💯
Very true! That makes it so nice for days when you want something different. It's like traveling without leaving the city. We will check out that place when we're in town next for sure. We love Vietnamese food! Cheers friend!
Next time you visit you can go to Grutas de Garcia, Bioparque Estrella, Autodromo Monterrey, Cerveceria, Tigres and Rayados Stadiums, and many other things to do!
7:21 FYI Monterrey and all its Metro area are the Most Americanized City all across Mexico. As soon as you visit other parts of Mexico. You will notice the difference by far. By the Way 7:16 Esquites is the way of other southern parts of Mexico called it. In Monterrey we called "Elote desgranado" (Corn shelled). there is a lot of controversy as people from Monterrey wants to buy (Corn shelled) and you ask to the vendor "Can i get an Elote en vaso" and vendor shows you an amazed face and ask you back "What is it Elote desgranado" and vendor keep saying we know as "esquite" and you said but we're in Monterrey and we know it as Elote desgranado (Corn shelled).
So happy to see foreigners enjoy my home! In my family we celebrate mine and my brother's birthday's with cabrito. Since the best restaurants for it can be pricey we keep it for special occasions. The best part of it for us is the "machitos" which are the guts and I like to eat them with just lime and salt.
Great travel blog, you've got to do the zip line at the waterfall guys! Pretty pretty, pretty, pretty natural landscapes, the city of Monterrey looks bustling too...will visit one day! Can see why you keep going back! Santiago at least I think it is Santiago is a real place of prominence for art...I'm sure that's where Frida Kahlo spent time with her lover....my memory is failing me a bit. Anyway it just looks so lively and vibrant! The food looks great too. Thanks, you've swayed me to visit one day.
Thank you amigo! Yeah to be honest, we didn't know about it until a year or two ago ourselves. It's crazy how many underrated cities are in Mexico! Growing up I really only knew about Cancun, Mexico City, and Tijuana. :)
