I hope the end of the Renovation Saga will restore peace and reading equilibrium for you, Mike! Yes, let's get together to chat about One Piece if you're up for it. I'm reading Alabasta now. I'll be in touch!

Your Dune sequels video made me reconsider my thoughts after reading books 2 and 3 ~15 years ago. So I bought the beautiful hardcovers and I'm ready for a re-read with your inputs in mind.

I loved the ending of Shogun, and I say this as someone who didn’t love it as much as most seem to. The book was never really about the action, it was about the characters and the scheming , and the ending showed the culmination of all the scheming.

I loved Blackwater so much. If you ever feel the itch to read more Michael McDowell, The Elementals is quite good as well. It’s certainly scarier than Blackwater, and shorter, and not near as epic, but all the other hallmarks are present. The characters. The family dynamics. The great dialogue. There is a unique, warm, and hilarious father-daughter relationship in The Elementals that is just wonderful.

I am sorry the restoration caused you unwanted stress but I hope you and your family and enjoy the new space. You also made me feel better since I bought my first home and I didn't realize the stress of moving and being surrounded by boxes would throw off my reading. FInally moved in and working on my space. Here is to having the peace to read again in the upcoming months,

I found your channel back in October or November when I got back into reading after over a decade of not really doing so. I keep watching your videos and adding to my list of reads to go through and love all your content. I binged a lot of reading in the September-November getting about 25 novels in, then took off through February. I read 6 novels in March, and The first two Burning Books by Evan Winter were my favorites of the month. I read them both in 3 days so hard to pick one over the other, but I liked them a lot. I'm working on the Codex Alera for April, and will probably get through that series this month. Thanks for all the great videos and recommendations!

I've got Blackwater on my TBR now, excited to get to it when I can. I, like others, never would've heard about without you. I did some pallet cleansers of fantasy this month reading more of the Johnathan Grave books from John Gilstrap, such a fun action packed thriller series, I'm finishing up book 10 right now. I'm about to dive back into the Cosmere because I've been away from it for too long. I've read all of Mistborn, both era1 and era2, and a few of the novellas, but I want to get back into it and read some of the standalones and get into Stormlight. I might end up doing re-reads on Mistborn Era 1 because I haven't read it since probably 2010. Not sure why I stopped with Sanderson because I love his stuff, I guess just got caught up in a bunch of other book series over the past several years. Either way should be exciting since there is so much of the Cosmere to dive into now.

Your March was my February, had floor replaced in my house and some of the subfloors needed to be replaced so it delayed it for a second week, got rona one day before the flooring guy showed up along with being only half done with the prep. Only read 1 book, I’m trying to forget that month even happened.

Read Dune this year before watching both movies. I actually prefer the movies over the book. But there were definitely things I wish were added to the movies. Unfortunate what happened with the One Piece read along but I really was enjoying each one. Hope at least you and Philip can continue something.

I enjoyed you Dune pt. 2 spoiler video you did with Christopher Ruocchio. You both had some good insights on the movie. For my own reading, I’m still making my way through the Dune Encyclopedia. I’ve also been reading Titan’s new Conan The Barbarian and Savage Sword of Conan comics. I read a reprint of the movie adaptation of Conan The Barbarian by L. Sprague DeCamp. It was a fun reread. This will be a big Conan year for me. I pre ordered Mezco Toys King Conan figure. I also plan on reading Conan of Venarium by Harry Turtledove. It’s the only Tor Conan book I didn’t read. I think it was the last Conan book Tor released. I’m also thinking of jumping back into rereading some of the Star Wars EU. Always liked the Clone Wars era books. I’ll probably start with the Republic Commando books and go from there.

Glad to hear things are looking up Mike! I’m raising a glass to a fulfilling and significantly less stressful April. I have to admit, I think my book of the month was The Great Hunt, something that surprised me. I also really enjoyed reading Sniper, detailing the events of the DC sniper case. This case is especially interesting to me as I was about four at the time and have some vague memories of running in the grocery store and having soccer practice in a gym. I have also joined Jake Bishop and Read by Kyle’s read through of Vorkisigan series. You’d like this I think Mike. I’m reading in publication order. There is also a chronological order you can read instead. Happy Reading!

I really liked the Blackwater review. You convinced me to buy a copy. Library's got a kindle copy available but I'd like to space it out like you had. I'm excited to read it. Had kind of a poor reading month myself. Started with Fathomfolk which was awful. Then read Plague of Giants which had a good story but the pacing was really off. I'll read the sequel though. And I started Dead Things (book 1 of Eric Carter series). Hopefully, some urban fantasy gets me back in the swing of things.

Black Water certainly sounds intriguing, I'll have to check it out sometime. I managed to read 4 books and 1 comic book in March. All the books were between 4 and 5 star reads. Books: Winterset Hollow - Jonathan Edward Durham Golden Son - Pierce Brown Eversion - Alastair Reynolds I Shall Wear Midnight - Terry Pratchett (which was a re-read) Comic book: Rat Queens - Volume 3: Demons My book of the month was Winterset Hollow. It was very close between that and Golden Son.

This has been my worst book reading month in a long time and that's because of the video games Helldivers 2 and Dragon's Dogma 2. You would love those games Mike. Helldivers is the Halo ODST sequel you wanted and Dragon's Dogma 2 is the most immetsive fantasy game since Skyrim.

Excellent, I am getting Blackwater next week. If you read Tai Pan and Noble House from Clavell those also would be candidates for book of the year. Actually i like those two more than Shogun. Eh, regarding the Dune movie, I was really disappointed. It was masterfully done, just the tone was not Dune for me, and I personally don't agree with the changes. Maybe it was the case of too big expectations, but either way, I left the theatre really bummed down. I mean, I responded the best to the stuff not in the movie, that I knew were in the book in that particular moment.
