Brandon Montour discusses going from winning the Stanley Cup with the Florida Panthers and celebrating at the parade Sunday to signing with the Seattle Kraken and moving across the country right after.
Brandon has been one of my top favorite Panthers. When Seattle comes to play at Sunrise, I am willing to see a thank you message displayed on the overhead screen.
I'm a Panthers' fan and Monty was one of my favorite players. It was pretty much a foregone conclusion that he was going to be gone at the end of the season due to Florida having to deal with Reinhart's extension first and foremost and making sure that they didn't go over the cap. He is a great player and had a great three year run (21 - 24) with the Cats. That being said, the Kraken grossly overpaid for the privilege of signing him. He is 30 years old and has 80 percent of his best performances behind him. In addition, he missed 20 percent of Florida's games las year and you never know when that starts becoming a trend. There's no doubt that Florida would have preferred to keep him but only at something like half the AAV that he got from the Kraken.
Why the Kraken? Money. Let’s be real. Money. Two years in the Finals, a Cup, and a Presidents Trophy. Homeboy wanted the cash, which I get. Just funny that he couldn’t even remotely BS his way through this interview. Dollah dollah bills in his eyes, bruh.
I absolutely love this guy, and I'm sad to see him leave the Panthers, but this is a massive overpay by the kraken. I mean Christ, Reinhardt only got 8 at 8.6
Never understand when there is a group with success.. and winning.. and then why not sign for less to repeat.. is one cup win enough? It happens all the time...thats wht penguins, blackhawks and tampa could keep up.
His reason for leaving the Cats is bullsh*t... he said in another interview that he wanted to go to a team that wanted him and that wants to win 🙄 ... C'mon dude, you wanted the money !!!! Be real for once... you could tell by the way he was laughing he was full of sh*t... Whatever... Panthers will find a replacement and one who will probably over-achieve.
Agreed. Mild year round, very rare extremes in temp and it doesn’t rain as much as people stereotypically think it does. A lot has changed weather-wise up here the past 15 yrs or so.
The funny thing is that if you don't take into consideration the Seattle Metro Area, the state of Washington is about as deep red as Florida. The answer to the question then is don't live in downtown Seattle if you play for the Kraken.
