Today is a big day for Nav Canada and Mirabel airport as the airport transitions from FSS (Class E airspace) to ATC controlled (Class C airspace). I am delighted to share this historic event with you. Nav Canada switched Mirabel airport to FSS over 10 years ago but as the airport has grown, the demand was needed to upgrade the airspace to be controlled.
Big thanks to Nav Canada for the invite, and I wish the controllers all the best in their new environment! :D
ATC at Mirabel will only operate from 6:00am to 10pm, afterwards the airport will return to FSS (from 10pm to 6am) and then switch back the following day.
