thank you so much for posting just this clip. i need to play this a billion times a day. we Americans talk so much trivial junk, but because it's coming out of special *Us* it is to be revered. this whimsical, intriguing insight truth we are about to tell ourselves we laid down for someone else's edification. the other one is: "like i was telling [some other bozo]." we think that reinforces the merit of whatever we happened to say.. geeesh!
when you die, instead to go at the end of the tunnel, take the door at your left, go down the hall, there will be a secretary who gonna give you the paperwork, don't forget your C.V with some good reference. then there is a test and then you wait in the purgatory , they gonna call you back . usually they call you within a century or two.
I agree with Death. What I believe this presents is a profound statement on the nature of enlightening commentary versus the constant drive to be heard and the center of attention. In just a few terse words here the Grim Reaper is telling us that, as Americans, we tend to overanalyze and overthink things that have simpler explanations. Thus the Reaper's scythe is a metaphorical opposite of Occam's Razor. With that in mind, Death has the upper hand in this philosophical debate.
Being a Brooklyn native (NYC being probably the most American of all the Americans when it comes to "talking and talking", we love to f*ckin' talk lol), this made me laugh my ass off. We hate our government yet we are just like them, we stick our nose *everywhere.* lol
I have spent about 90 minutes in the U.S. of A. At customs, a guy in uniform with a gun said "let me tell you something and I just wanna say this; it costs 5 dollars to enter this country." "Ooh, that does seem an awful lot. What do you think, darling, is it going to be worth us paying 10 dollars?" I asked my wife. "What's that in pounds?" was her reply. "Do we get our money back if it's not very good?" I asked the customs officer. Another guy intervened; "now listen, dude, let me tell you something and i just wanna say this; the United States is the land of the free and the home of the brave". "Did you say, home of the grave? It sounds a bit grim", my wife chipped in. "BRAVE, BRAVE, the home of the BRAVE" replied the first customs guy loudly. Another voice boomed behind us: "Let me tell you something and I just wanna say this say this; if those goddam limeys waste any more time, I'll show em where to go with this". "Oh, well, alright then, i suppose we can try to be brave too and give it a go", i told the customs guys. Without looking back we paid up and hurried on over the border. We were surprised to soon hear Elton John singing Rocket Man and to see a cabin with a Welsh flag on it, and then.... But that's all by and by cos the moral of this tale is that DEATH is always right. (Englishmen being pompous and short of cojones, that we all know already.)
@Koolcat527 Well I do mean the English by far. I've been among many Scots and they were a friendly and generally non-condescending people for the most part.
