Doubtful. The plaque says "Chamran Knebter" -- which is an anagram of "Merchant Banker": hardly likely he was actually scripted to say that. I suspect this anecdote has been transposed from "...Holy Grail," where this *was* in fact the origin of "There are some who call me ... Tim."
Grunge rock bands are also known as garage bands, mostly coming from New Jersey, very similar with the Bay area thrash metal scene in Frisco early 80's with garage bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Heathen, Testament, Exodus, etc. but grunge was a completely new sound, they mixed Black Sabbath with more modern sounding rock and pop. the main goal was to sound non commercial but back to basics of rock and still get your attention, incoporate different things in the music, very similar to Stoner rock, bands like Monster Magnet, Kyuss or Fu Manchu. check out Monster Magnet's Spacelord
