MOOER PREAMP LIVE Tone Capture with PETE THORN 

I have been so impressed by these videos that I bought one a couple of days ago. So far, WOW!!!! I very much recommend this gear to every guitar player. There are many sounds for every style. So simple to use as a stand alone unit. It’s a bit tricky linked to a computer but better than others that are out there. Yeah, this is the new wave of equipment that is new with something to offer.

Pete's usually a very genuine dude and he doesn't seem too excited here...

I just bought one of these pedals and have played out twice with it going direct in to P.A. and using in ear monitors...it's a really great sounding pedal.

Pete doesn't seem al that enthused with this. I'd like to hear him do a demo from his home studio - they're always brilliant; especially when he gets inspired enough to compose a tune around a piece of gear, like he did with the Headrush board. Nice demo, regardless. On my 'must buy' list now.

I just pick up one of these units and I use it with an Orange Baby power amp into a 2x12 with Gt75 speakers. Some preamps sound better then others as in all modelers. Its not a bad unit for the money. I also have a Helix LT. When compared to the "preamps" on the Helix I would say the Mooer takes less tweaking to get a good tone. And there are no drastic volume level issues when switching to other preamps like the Helix LT. I find always needing to add an EQ after the Helix preamp to help shape. The Mooer doesnt need that help, it doesnt have that option anyway. Just the basic controls do the job for the most part. If you work at it and dont mind the tweaking, you will get a better tone from the Helix preamps. But the Mooer is still a very good option.

Does this pedal use the USB as a Audio interface so you can you re-amp digitally etc

I consider stock Vox Ac 30 in the pedal, was closer then the captured one !!

Please introduce some sort of eq or at least low and high pass filter in the next update.... this pedal is awesome and some sort of eq will really will make it only better.

Is there a gain knob for the tone match amp?

Is it noisy when recording direct into a studio Daw and is there any tone loss?

Is there a way to tone capture if your amp does not have a fx loop, like my orange micro terror

Lets get this straight, this pedal is only capturing the eq of the 'real' amp, its not like a kemper that actually captures the actual sound. but hats off to mooer for getting the amp model sounding pretty dam close as it is.

tried to upload Pete´s Capture preset into the preamp live, but the Preamp Live software doesn´t show any files when opening the "Thorn" folder. Two ".mo-files are in the folder, how or where do I have to copy these files?

The tone capture is very impressive and will get you 95% there, tweak away for the other 5%. The only issue I have with the tone capture is that you need to save the capture on the same preset you are working with. So if you liked the stock JCM900 preamp and used it for source in capture, you will lose that JCM900 stock preamp when you save the new tone capture. I wish this unit gave me some empty banks to save to so I didnt have to save over the original loaded preset.

The tone capture They did on that vox amp Is very interesting but I definitely do not think that it’s the same tone as that amp. It’s pretty close, but it doesn’t break up the same doesn’t sound as organic

Really close to the original tone! Incredible! Thorn doesn't seem too satisfied because he is annoyed that his ac30 is outrageously priced than the Mooer and the sound is very plausible: that's why he doesn't seem too enthusiastic.

Can you save and export the tone? Or importante from amps and other pedals?

Why didn't Pete tweek the knobs????? He would have done a better job in matching the tone!!! Not only the digital version had more gain, but it was much louder and we all know how human ears receive frequencies differently at different volumes

Just listening through small headphones and I can't really hear a difference between the amp and the capture. Judging by Pete's lack of enthusiasm I'm guessing the difference in sound is much more apparent in the room there. For the price I'd like to try it though.

Ok, this explains a lot. So this really IS a preamp modeller. And not an amp simulator. So it sounds great with the power amp and the speaker of a real amp. But it won't do instead of a real amp altogether.

The most important thing in this kind of product video is THE AUDIO. This video sounds like ass. Did you record this with two lavalier mics panned hard left/right or something?

Pete its a great guitarrist and makes great videos, but this one its horrible, the sound its anoying, not because of his playing, but because of the quality

A terrible product. It does sound good, but it is absolutely unreliable. After a week of buying it, it stopped working, luckily under warranty so I got it replaced. The new unit, after a year stopped working again. Unfortunately not under warranty anymore. I lost my money. I was able to record a couple of demos with it and that's all. Also, they stop developing the software. Don't buy it!
