The Ampero 2 Stage has a disadvantage when it comes to splitting 2 outputs to one with Cab/IR and one without, it doesn’t leave much room for other effects in the chain. The cool thing if one wants it, are parallel effects. Amp models and drives are not bad in the Mooer, can also load custom profiles into it, but their Cab’s/IR’s are most probably not on pair, they do support 3rth party IR’s tough. The thing I like the most with the drives on Mooer units is their EQ, instead of just getting a tone knob all drives have a 3 band EQ regardless of the original stompbox version. One cool thing with the GE1000 is that they finally added an output mixer. The Ampero 2 seems to have better delays and reverbs though, like one can mix more in of them before they sound to much. To be honest though, I really like the NUX Amp Academy amps with custom IR’s though, so considering to get the Ampero 2 Stomp if all effects have a dry mix knob, mainly because of it havin a ToneBender, and chain it via the 4 cable method, should leave a tad more resources for other effects in the chain, since all these new cheap multi fx products seem to be plagued by lack of hardware resources. I wish BOSS would come with a smaller version of the GX1000, since I only need the effects, a dry mix on all effects, parallel fx, the ability to have more than one drive in the chain and an fx loop, thing is going to sit on a rackshelf, no shoegazing here. Maybe not the most exotic effects in 2024, but they do their job, plus that BOSS’s own Fuzz sounds pretty radd too. Never had or seen any of their boards go hairwire either.
Just had a deeper look over the Ampero 2 specs, no dry/wet mix knob on most of the effects. 🙁 So for my demands the GT-1000 Core seems to be the best option.
Can live witout updates👌. In the end, this is all about the music and sound (not the computers, updates, programms, an little improvements in every next update, - like in phone). We hav forgot, that our old analog pealboard never has update of the soft ,a nd stil rocks 😊
@@raiviste4187Updates are essential for this type of units as they provide new amps, cabs and effects. Sometimes even new features and functions. It's way more than simple bug fixes (which if you're using a similar unit for playing live is also essential).
Unrelated to this vid, but do you think the ToneX could capture the sound of a Lichtlaerm Medusa into a modern high gain amp to get a modern tight chainsaw tone without having an additional pedal?
Old stuff, old sounds in new case with new pricing. Will they support this new device with firmware updates and bugfixes? Or they gonna drop support like for e.g. ge 300 and 300 lt?
I was just saying recently this would be ideal: big enough to have several channels via footswitches + vol/wah, yet not battleship size, ability to capture (not seeing capture instructions in the manual but I'm not familiar with mooer's GE Labs); nice touch screen/visual display; around $500; nice stock amp list; XLR outs. Only other negative might be if it doesn't have some bass amps (not seeing any in the manual), but everything else checks out! Definitely on my radar. Can someone answer - can this thing capture or not?
Be nice to have a GE300 equivalent to this, maybe minus the synthesiser? I guess this and the wireless foot switch would be similar, but knowing me, I would loose/break/forget the foot switch. A Boss GX1000 would also be nice, but that's a whole other thing.....
16:37 That feature is a game changer for me, happens the same on line 6 Pod Go, if you turn off IR block on different outs, everything before that is disabled by the system. Kinda sucks
So here's the big question in my head about this. I just bought myself a guitar, and I'm waiting on a Kemper Profiler Player purchase (thomann is out of stock, it'll be out in a couple weeks). Now looking at this, and checking the price, I saw that this is £477 as opposed to the Kemper's £599 price tag. It's got a touchscreen, 18 signal path nodes, 5 buttons instead of 3, expression pedal built in and it's wireless. Is this then, a more sensible purchase? Would I be better off getting this instead of the Kemper?
The features on this are actually really damn good! Im impressed, But i'd be waiting to see some reviews on it first before a purchase. The headrush was a similar concept and that just turned out to really be a toy rather than a professional piece of gear that artists were using. Although that being said im a ToneX user and i sold of alot of my gear after owning Helix/Fractal/Kemper. I can see this new technology is soon going to become that good you're really not going to be paying a lot for it anymore. The future is here now
@@WillyhoweGuitar Yeah I was between ToneX and Kemper. I'm going Kemper even if it's double the price, because I don't want to buy any more pedals (except maybe a wah). With the ToneX I'd still need a delay, etc... I did think of still getting the ToneX PLUGIN, though. Don't think I'll need it. It'd be just to have a solution for situations where I might not have the Kemper with me (like bandmates borrowing it lol).
Its all a bit of a con really. Manufacturers telling players " YOU NEED THIS, or you'll be left behind. " As if everthing thats come before is obsolete. Majority of users will play at home and don't need choice of 60 overdrives, Choruses, Reverbs, or 100 cab simulations. What happened to less is more?
With custom ir you can make it to sound good. But yeah, it's propably the same hardware (dsp cpu) that was in e.g. ge 300, but with touch screen, so it's nothing new.
idk. its pretty standard w/ a few small unique changes. UI looks great but sound other than the IR sounded really muffled. Im sure it can be adapted which is of course the point. To be used more as a creativity tool. like the rechargeable feature. Price is good but theres a lot of other affordable pedals around as well. Good review. Mooer is def a promising multi-effect builder.
As a Mooer customer I'm pissed that Mooer modus operandi is just pumping products out of the door, pay youtubers for the ad and then MOVE TO THE NEXT PRODUCT, so there is NO POST-PURCHASE SERVICE whatsoever. The Mooer GE300 doesn't get an update since... more than a year. So I assume they move all those engineers assigned to the GE300 team to the GE1000 team and guess what, it's not that great! IT has less buttons, almost same sound, still no dual signal, still no scenes (that's kinda compensated in GE300 having more buttons), no mic placement and parameters, and I keep going... The GE1000 is just a GE250 2.0, it's not successor to the GE300 and they still don't give updates for that unit. 12:05 even Taylor says "they kept the sounds intact... so... yeah, good stuff...", even he notices this is kinda lame, but he's payed so can't say that! so what's the matter then? why not update the firmware to the GE250 if this unit is going to be in that price range? edit: it doesn't even have the synth module
I feel the same way about my Prime P1. Decent little unit that could be great if they just worked on adding features and updates. The companion apps are pretty awful as well.
Chinese products are usually fire and forget products. If you want a modeller with long term support, buy a Helix or (if you have the money) an AxeFX. 🤷
@@TheGuiltyguitar yeah, I'm not gonna lie, Mooer release really good products BUT they could be great if they update them to achieve their fullest potential. And one of the updates they could do without touching NOTHING of the hardware is the companion apps, yikes! they are really luckluster, kinda ugly to the eye (I think the ge250 has the better one) and lame, like... I can't even scroll with the mouse wheel a parameter or a bank list, nope, you have to click and click and click everything...
@@TheGuiltyguitaryeah I love my P2 but for the love of god I still can’t find the app that goes with it! And all their marketing and what not has typos and Japanese jargon. It seems like smoke and mirrors to me. But I love my P2 to just jam before bed with headphones. Just push a preset and fall asleep
I never fail to have fun when messing w pitch shifters, lol. Either it sounds super great or it sounds so weird it makes me laugh. Fun either way, can't go wrong.
Agree. I switched from Mooer GE250 to Helix Native and the effects and reverbs are so much better, not even comparable. Mooer amps are good though, I even miss them a bit in Helix.
too bad Mooer forgets about it's previous devices as soon as they released a new one (not to mention non-existent support)... my GE-300 was the last Mooer device I bought
Great video. I have been warching a lot of your amp modeller pedal videos lately am thinking of getting this or the GE3000 as an upgrade from my PODHD500X. Does anyone know if either of these MOOER pedals have a vst or plugin software that you can use or open inside of your DAW in order to record a dry and wet signal and play along to and listen to it wet?
Too bad they didn't launch a wireless version. I'll stick with my PodGo for now until they release the wireless, but this is certainly tempting at the price point.
it has Bluetooth! Q: Can you tweek it with a phone app like the Mooer Prime and SD30i, or is it touch pad only? the only other Multi effects with blue tooth are the Line 6 fire hawk and the Headrush . I wish The HX Stomp had bluetooth . getting settings to save with a phone app is so easy no knobs or even touching the unit
What do you know about the battery one. I havnt bern able to get an answer. So if the battery craps out....can uou6plug it in and kerp going? Nothing gas been said of this. So of course would like to know this. If you hapoen to know.
Not much new compared to old generation in my opionion. Shame they didn't develop MNRS further with dedicated units that can do captures so that you don't need an iOS product etc.
Thanks for the video!! Makes me laugh how we all want over new gadgets! Also funny how people compare this $500 gadget to the sound of a $2000 gadget. I am not quite convinced to upgrade yet though. 🤘🏽🎩
Mooer approaching 600-700 dollars is a little much. Would you say the effects in units like this are as robust as something like a Stomp? I trust the modeling tones of Mooer but I'm not sure they have such a great effects choice, but maybe I'm wrong.
You're the reason I got my Mooer GE200. Now it's outdated fml I really like the GE200 though, it has a Jet City 100H in it, and it sounds suuuuper close to my real 100H. The modeling is pretty damn good
Wow! I had one of mooer's ge-300 (I think it was) and it was insanely good for its price, tones and functionality....that was 4-5 years ago....I can only imagine how this version is better.
Boss...everything they make is rock solid. The ME90 sounds amazing also. It is old school knobs though and has a learning curve. Then again their is always Boss Tone Studio.
I’ll answer myself for anyone who’s looking for this info. Yes, you can add 2 or 3 amps and then change between them in stompbox mode. Pretty useful since it’s lacking the “scene” or “snapshot” option.
I also own the GE300! I use it exclusively for recording and gigging. I'm excited by the Mooer (former boss GT 100 and line 6 pod go owner), and it's the best (IMO) up the $1000 price range. You can literally get the sound you want. I would like to know if the tone of this 1000 unit has quality differences from the 300! A comparison video would be nice!
I try not to say what sounds better because it's so subjective, and everything sounds good anyways. It's more about what features you need, and what workflow works best for you IMO. Both are similar, but this has a built in battery if that matters to you.
@@TaylorDanley Thanks for the answer. I'm looking for something heavy metal, but that eventually touches on a different genre. Something that only requires the equipment itself, or at most one or two pedals. And it's easy to setup...
Maan sick video! I`ve seen your GE1000 and Ampero II Stage and i`m in doubt about those two.. analysing both videos i guess for High Gain with pinch harmonics/pitch shift/metal stuff, Ampero II wins right? At least based on those videos thats what seems to me 😅 And that expression pedal, will you make a video about that little guy? Thanks!
Looks cool but to be honest sounds terrible at least the distortion patches you ran. Would have to hear more demos but so far this sounds like a bottom tier multi effects worth passing on for something better.
