@@theshade6176 Yeah clearly Marc and Steven accept eachother hence the happy embrace. Jake is the one who keeps forcing himself out to do violent things to protect them, knowing the other 2 won't go that far.

The hippo god at the end is Tawaret. She's the god of fertility, resurrection and rejuvenation. The rejuvenation part is supposedly her ability to clean and purify the dead so that they can pass on safely into the afterlife. Though most likely, she will be used in Moon Knight to resurrect Marc. Also, the panther statue at the entrance of the tomb is supposed to be Bast, the panther god. In Egyptian mythology, she's known to be the goddess of protection so that's why she's at the entrance of the tomb. And of course linking Moon Knight with Black Panther. In Marvel comics, Bast is actually part of the Ennead but the Ennead gods basically don't like each other and sometimes don't bother attending important meetings.

thannk god someone loves mythology. I though expected her as Osiris and Anubis would be the ones that would show up if he was gonna go through the gates of the Underworld. Still its a bit confusing coz Osiris is also the god of Resurrection but i guess Twaret has more control over the abilities compared to him. at this point idc, i just wanna see Anubis as he is one of my favorite god. Ofcourse Ra, Thoth and Horus as well but not as much as Anubis. I came to love Horus through Assassins Creed Origins. You have to play that if you love Egyptian Mythology

@@truehuman1709 Anubis is awesome. I'm not too familiar with Egyptian mythology but I love their look, as far as the type of clothing they wear. I'm not too sure but I think that's where the design for Kang The Conquerer comes from or at least inspired by.

So Marc went into his Headspace at the end. A mental world where people with DID can manifest their alters. Him being shot caused him to be sent there, I guess.

@@loganbigmo You’re probably right, was mostly basing my answer on the hippo goddess at the end. Who was not seen in previous episodes. In the comics, khonshu mentioned that overvoid is where gods resided and were trapped. As well as konshu being the only one not there because of his banishment. Idk interesting to say the least and we’ll find out more next week.

14:07 Well that was rude of them. 14:20 Which is exactly why Taweret the hippo goddess was the perfect protective goddess for childbirth and fertility - she's is very protective over those who need protection and if someone endangers or threatens those she's looking out for she gets angry and ferocious, same as any mother would.

I think when he got shot he is either dying, and marc and Steven are trapped in his mind, or a diffrent personality is in control of marcs body and marc and Steven are "trapped" in his "mind". Ethan Hawke says (as the doctor) something to the effect of "our reality is in our mind" and starts talking about "the pen is a writing utensil to me, but to a dog it's a chew toy" pretty much explaining that reality or more specifically our perception of our reality is "in our minds". hinting that the "hospital setting" they are "trapped" in is inside of marcs mind and not actual reality.

@28:28 The "blackouts" in the first episode was because Jake was taking control. Marc was still passed out from falling out of that window. Jake was the one driving the car for Steven and killing all those people. It makes sense that the show wouldn't want the audience to figure out that that what was happening because that's how you build mystery and intrigue and wanting viewers to keep watching the show to figure out what's going on (also they didn't want to spoil a third alter with Jake existing as well). And also the audience is put in Steven's POV, and since Steven doesn't know what's going on, the audience should also be put out of the loop. There's no more blackout when he switches bodies with Marc for the rest of the season because we the audience already know that Steven is switching bodies with Marc, thus it wouldn't make any sense to do the blackouts anymore. You even bringing up the topic of Layla saving herself is exactly why it's important that more female characters (specially ones that have proven before to be able to defend themselves) are able to save themselves in the end, because the more scenes like this happen on screen, the more common it will be and the audience wouldn't even be distracted on thinking about the "politics" of the current time. And also the writers needed to find a way for Layla to find out the truth about Marc's involvement with her father and Marc couldn't be there for that, otherwise he would have stopped Harrow from bringing up the conversation like how he did last episode.

I hated it, I feel like they were trying to do something profound and stylistic with the ending but with not a single hint of story progression it was just all chaos and it fell flat but that's just my opinion.

14:45 Achara, the different alters can work together but they can't really "integrate back into one" since they're not a fraction of a person but their whole person (that's why 'split personality' isn't used anymore).

Now that Steven and Marc are more connected, it is getting easily to switch between the two. However, the fight scenes are between Marc and Jake or Steven and Jake. That’s why it is a harsher takeover.

Or maybe its just consistent with Layla's character that she can save herself. Think about it Jab, the issue is that media always portrayed women as weak which necessitated them being saved by men. However, if you make the female characters strong you can organically have moments like we did in Moon Knight where Layla kicked ass all by herself and have it not be weird or out of place as it is IN character for the role she is portraying.

The hippo girl is so cute because she's the Egyptian goddess of birth, Taweret (different writing depending on language). She's very nice BUT I'm not very confused about the situation at the end. She's usually in the Egyptian underworld and helps the spirits that lost their way and can't get to the afterlife (basically like an retirement home because the spirits there have lost themselves, memories about their life and who they are). It would make sense why Marc and Steven are separated, because they're two different spirits. But WHY THE F ARE THERE SO MANY OTHER PEOPLE AND MOST IMPORTANTLY ARTHUR???? I had so many good theories until Taweret showed up😂

He is assuming he is the primary (& only) personality & takes priority not only over his other personality (personalities) but also about each of their relationships, partners too?

People with DID prefer to refer to their "personalities" as Alters as they are alternate people of the same body and "personality" is a vague term and could refer to the change in personality of even a normal person. Just fyi , no hate.

Also yes you are correct if multiple alters want to date the same person...or if an alter falls in love with another person that isn't the person the body is married(In a realtionship with) to out in the IRL world everybody needs to consent for that relationship to happen. It creates resentment and broken trust and would be considered cheating otherwise.

I think if they leaving the third personality there then the third personality will end up becoming the negative version of moonknight . The part we're after kissing, when Marc punched himself was hilarious 😂. I think konshu is also held up there in the headspace maybe and they will try to escape. Maybe in order to escape they have to learn a lesson or a test .

The hippo goddess is the same woman (avatar) that was in episode 3, Taweret (played by Antonia Salib). She's entered Marc/Steven mind after he got shot and fell in the water (portal)

Marc could not reach through during the fight in the previous episode because of Konchu.. like was previously mentioned who ever is in control of the body has a stronger connection to it through the suit/konchu. He obviously was able to take some control this time because.. konchu is no longer with him.

the ending is based on MOON KNIGHT lemire run where he woke up in some sort of asylum hospital and trapped dont know how he got there and thinks if moon knight and khonshu are even real?..he went back and foward in each of his personality life he got confused sometimes hes steven grant sometimes hes jake sometimes moon knight...and after he killed khonshu he is finally free...its wild but i dont think they will follow the comics i think they just took some element of it and after that he'll get revived and get his powers back

This was such a confusing and chaotic episode. The last 15 minutes at the mental institution reminded me so much of a Buffy episode from season 6 (Normal Again, it's called), but thankfully it wasn't as traumatic or depressing. It was really good as well, though. Can't wait for the next episode. And Layla is such a boss, love her.

This episode was the exact implication of the 2016 moon knight comic. Where Ammit imprisons Marc and his relatives in a mental hospital, but he finds out its not a hospital and it's actually under the Ammit's tomb. And most of it happening in his own mind space.

I absolutely love the Indiana Jones/Uncharted/Tomb Raider inspired scenes in the crypt. I don’t care how old you are, you never really out grow the allure of uncovering the mysteries of ancient ruins. But I’m really hoping that this show doesn’t do the whole “You’re actually insane and the villain is trying help you, but in reality it’s an illusion and the villain is just trying to get something from you” trope. Mostly because I want mental illness to be shown in a proper and respectful way. And from the look of the Egyptian goddess of fertility Taweret showing up at the end I hope it does something new.

I really really hope they don't go the "evil alter" route...it would absolutely ruin the GOOD representation they have created so far. Because evil alters DON'T exist IRL. It a purely Hollywood trope...and it's very harmful to people with DID to have that in the media as representation of their disorder.

26:53 Yeah I thought in the same way too. But there were some hinting that the asylum thing is not real and everthing before that, was real. Marc found Steven so it has got to be in his mind cuz' Marc cannot find Steven as a real person right? And Jake's identity being teased just like Steven was in a sarcophagus should be possible only when its in his head.And at the end him seeing a big Hippo Goddess, is maybe tellings us some Egyptian Goddess is helping while Marc is drowning or.... something like that. Or........... it hurts me to say, .............. maybe Marc made it out the first time he died - Konshu saved him but DID has gotten him the need for therapy, a lot happened that was kind of in the dark area for Marc and us viewers and he's just hallucinating in the influence of a drug or something and is really in the mental hospital. Now hallucinating is also something that happens in the head, right? So I had to include it as a possibility.

He’s in the overvoid which basically combines all of your theory’s since it’s very hard to tell what’s real there and what your wanting to see but in the comics it’s hard to tell if that’s real but since we’ve seen Jackles appear in real life I assume the overvoid is real to

Why didn't Marc kill Arthur, but kill his henchmen? And if Arthur could sense this thing about Lacey's father, why couldn't he sense whether Khonshu fractured Marc's mind or not?

Btw that hippo God... I read somewhere.... Its connected to life, regeneration, rebirth. Thats why marc and steven are separated and alive as well. No idea about the third one yet. And the hospital so white... Must be as harrow said "heaven on earth"

Yea, the hippo is the goddess Tawaret, of, as said, rebirth and life, and the ending must be set in the, I think, House of Rest in The Duat, which is where the gods go to die, my Egyptology is rusty, but I think that’s what it is

Mental hospitals used to be very white and bright...they aren't anymore...but they used to be. That's probably why it is so white. As a reference to old mental hospitals.

At the end you were asking are those blackouts going to continue to be a thing? Where do you draw the line? Well, remember even in episode 1 when Steven had the scarab and was trying to give it Arthur Harrow, someone had control over Steven's hand, arms and even marched him away from the confrontation. Only when Steven was outnumbered 4:1 and lost the scarab did a blackout occur. So we have seen some overlap from the very beginning.
