@@steveaustin2686 well, I don't know. The way I interpreted the show, it seems like Khonshu was always in control. Arthur learned about Ammit when he was Khonshu's avatar, and Khonshu also just let him go for unknown reasons, as opposed to Marc where Khonshu seemed to have Marc trapped. Also, the bird bones in episode 5 indicate that Khonshu's been prepping Marc for a long, long time. I think Khonshu essentially pointed Arthur at Ammit as a decades-long gambit, knowing that Ammit could take down the other gods and that he and Jake could then take down Ammit and Arthur. He also pretended to be far weaker than he was: Ammit commented on his mummy-like appearance, saying that "time had not been kind" to him. But Khonshu was still able to grow to Ammit's size, and afterwards, in the end credit scene, he was wearing a suit. I think Khonshu was never actually weakened, and in fact may have been more powerful than Ammit all along but just held back most of his power from Marc until Jake came out. I'd bet he gets power from every sinner his Moon Knight kills, just like Ammit gets power from the souls she eats. Because at the end of the series, he has quite literally everything he wants: the other gods are without avatars, and he's presumably powerful enough to prevent them from getting new ones if he wants, or if he doesn't want to go that route he can probably swing a reversal of his exile, considering he "saved" the mortal world from Ammit. Sure, there was a risk he'd stay imprisoned in stone, but he knew how resourceful Marc, Steven and Layla were and he also knew that Arthur would eventually be going to the Pyramid of Giza to take on the gods, so at SOME point there'd be a perfect opportunity for them to free him. He maybe didn't expect Marc/Steven to die, but then again it's not like that changed anything, and he would have known that they could come back. Khonshu is a trickster god in mythology, and I mean, MAYBE he's just dumb but lucky in the show. Or maybe he's an absolute manipulative genius. Loki eat your heart out.
@steveaustin2686
@steveaustin2686 2 года назад
@@joshorton9061 Eh, I disagree. Growing in size would be a function of his power, not his intelligence. And Jake was out the whole time and was really Khonshu's avatar, with Marc as the front man. Khonshu could be wise, without being smart. I don't think it was all some gambit, but Khonshu muddling through.

As odd as it may sound, I like how Harrow tears up when he says "This is the face of a good man". It shows that he genuinely believes in what he preaches, almost like a proud teacher when a student gets something right. The more I think about Ammits cult, the more I kind of get why people would be attracted to it. Most religions say that you'll face judgement when you die, so there must be something extremely comforting to have a God affirm that you're a good person.

The thing with Marc and Steven being 2 people in one body is actually a real world mental condition, its called "disassociative identity disorder" and it is effectively a case where the brain starts running a second human mind in parallel with the original, generally as a coping mechanism. It used to be called "split personality syndrome" but that term has fallen out of favour due to being kinda inaccurate. The different identities aren't just "alternate personalities", they're generally entirely distinct and independent people who happen to share a brain.

Some facts about Moon Knight so far: For episode 1: Marc suffers from DID (dissociative identity disorder). However, his alter Steven thinks he's sleepwalking. That's why he chains himself to his bed, surrounds his bed with sand, tapes the door, and tries to find ways to stay awake. For episode 2: When Steven is wearing the suit, he's known as Mr. Knight. He looks like a Kingsman Deadpool. Manners maketh man. For episode 3: Director Mohamed Diab fought for Layla to be Egyptian. May Calamawy is from Bahrain but has Egyptian-Palestinian roots. People are gonna know her more thanks to Marvel Studios. While the story takes place in Egypt, they actually filmed the desert scenes in Jordan where Oscar previously worked on Star Wars and Dune. They also built sets in Budapest, where they previously filmed Black Widow. And lastly, Anton Mogart/Midnight Man was portrayed by French actor Gaspard Ulliel. Unfortunately, he passed away when he had an accident at a skiing resort in France back in January. Moon Knight was one of his final projects released posthumously. The third episode is dedicated to him.

About your question about how can Stephen have a life of his own, well the short answer is he doesn't. People with dissociative personality disorder in most cases don't have personalities that can meet to an agreement, most of the time they don't even know that there are more of them. Since all of them want to have a life, and there is only one body, there is not enough for everyone and that only causes disaster in the body. A common symptom of the disorder is the lack of sleep because just because one of them goes to sleep doesn't mean that the others do too, so the brain never really sleeps.

Marc/Steven are part of a System, as defined by Dissociative Identity Disorder. It's a way for the brain to compartmentalize ongoing, traumatic events in a way that allows the whole to survive. There's a woman here on RU-vid (braiDIDbunch) that is part of a System and she has some reactions to Moon Knight from the perspective of someone with DID and how the media portrayals of it have usually been problematic, and how this current show gets some things right/wrong.

The only issue with her reactions is that she completely misunderstands parts of the show. Like she thinks a god possessing a character is DID, which isn’t true. Problem is that they used artistic license to try and get a general understanding of how it feels and therefore would confuse ppl who have no idea what DID is. The mirror thing is entirely a visual part to show how divided they are and allow more interesting shots and expressions. But as we see by the end, they don’t need a mirror. It’s just a way of visual representation, which I’m sure might’ve given ppl the wrong idea.

Moon Knight is my favorite marvel series! I’m a lover of Egyptian mythology to begin with so I fortunately wasn’t dependent on the show explaining everything and could even call some things but I really wasn’t prepared for this awesomeness!!!! Oscar Isaac is a MENACE for this entire series, he better get an Emmy for this.

After watcing New Rockstrars observation videos, rewatching the series makes it easier to notice the things going on. The date, the ultraviolent alter, stuff like that. Also, it's "obvious" that the villain is wrong, but for those who think "Thanos was right," the problem is that it implies the potential good that happens between when they are judged and when they sin doesn't matter.
@ma.2089
@ma.2089 2 года назад
There’s also something that doesn’t make sense when we consider how they’re judged. Perhaps it is 100% accurate that she can tell who will commit a crime (without room for error). But if she does, does she take into consideration telling someone that they’re good and how that might alter what their future is like? After all, a lot of ppl convinced they were good did horrible things.

There are pretty deep connections between this show and the Egyptian film industry. The showrunner and the composer of the soundtrack are both Egyptian, most, if not all, of the Egyptian characters are played by Egyptian actors, but the Egyptian scenes were shot at Wadi Rum in Jordan. I have an Egyptian friend who used to work in the film industry there and he was complaining to me about how Marvel Studios approached the Egyptian government about filming there but were turned down. No idea if that's actually true, just something a friend told me, but he mentioned a pattern that I've noticed of Western film and TV that takes place in Egypt actually being filmed in either Jordan or Morocco due to the governments of those countries being more accomodating to foreign film crews than Egypt's so it would make sense.

Mr. Knight looked awesome in this episode. Another great episode. The back and forth between Steven Grant and Marc Spector was my favorite part of this episode. Khonshu looks terrific in this series. Arthur Harrow is a great villain. I love the visuals in this show. Arthur Harrow being a former avatar of Khonshu was an excellent twist. Arthur Harrow roasting Khonshu was cool-blooded. I'm also enjoying this show. I loved the interaction between Steven Grant and Arthur Harrow in this episode. Khonshu has no chill. What you said about Harrow is actually what makes him an interesting villain. He's hypocritical in that he wants to free the world of sin, but he wants Ammit to forgive him for his sins. He once enjoyed bringing pain to those who sinned, but changed and now he blames Khonshu for making him do those horrible things. *SPOILERS* In episode 6 he was willing accept Ammit's judgement regardless if his scales were balanced or not. But he secretly hoped for a second chance. In my opinion, he's one of the best MCU villains, and I love how he can't see past his own hypocrisy. He's able to recognize his past flaws, but not this one.
@ma.2089
@ma.2089 2 года назад
He never stated that he wanted Ammit to forgive him for his sins ever, just that he believes strongly in his cause. He blames Konshu for manipulating and abusing him, which is what he does to Marc as well. He outright says he DOESN’T want a second chance and there are better people out there for Amit too. He might be morally wrong in your opinion but his only moment of hypocrisy is when he kills the homeless man w/o judgment.
@Cinemabu11
@Cinemabu11 2 года назад
@@ma.2089 In the 6th episode Ammit says "Your scales lack balance." He says in response "I had hoped my penance might correct my imbalance, but I see now that is impossible. I accept the scales regardless of the outcome." He basically said he hoped Ammit would forgive and spare him. He might have said he didn't want it, but in reality he did. His blind belief in Ammit, can't allow him to see that he's hypocritical in his claims. Also he does kill the homeless man by judging him.
