Imagine if you or I had an opportunity to help test and tune a headphone. Good on Moondrop for allowing one of the best IEM reviewers on earth to help tune a new product version.
Jokes aside, the fact that Moondrop has come out of there way to include ACCURATE measurements of their earphones in order to help the customers get a true reference point for the IEMs, is very impressive. It just shows how confident they are with their products and we should really speak highly of this level of transparency.
It's not a unit specific FR, at least I am pretty sure Moondrop just doesn't do that. It is truly amazing that they publish their own measurements on their own site however. Almost no other manufacturer does this, and it should be standard
I own the Blessing 2 and have really enjoyed their sound signature. However, I was thinking of trading up to the Thieaudio Monarch or Clairvoyance. Yes, the bass on the Blessing 2 is a bit weak, thus the reason for the Dusk, but for $320, the Blessing 2 is worthy of all its praise. So, before I sold my Blessing 2 in order to spend up for one of the Thieaudio cans, I decided to do some tip rolling. I tried numerous foam and silicon tips; I will spare you all the details of each experience. But using Spinfit CP100 tips with proper insertion and fit (XL for my ears) changed my Blessing 2 IEMs dramatically from stock. I now have deep but clean and balanced bass to go along with detail and tonality. I now have saved myself a bunch of money as for me, my modified Blessing 2s are extremely satisfying and a keeper.
There's also the Spinfit CP145 since I got the CP155 before but was too exact to the diameter of the nozzle and would be too loose. The CP155 would sometimes get stuck in my ears, the CP145 wouldn't. All because they add an extra space between the nozzle to the ear which helps from fatiguing.
Your reviews are on point & informative. Also the fact you talk about Metal & more complex tracks is amazing 🤩. Many reviewers don’t mention metal music for iems.
I would prefer the dusk if not for the changes in the mids. I like my sub bass but I wanted the rest to remain the same. Also the original blessings 2 have better choices for engraving of waifus😋
Don’t worry Andrew, I got the original B2 a couple months back and also noticed that the ‘s’ and ‘sh’ sounds stood out more than I’d like. I guess I’m sensitive to that range of frequencies as well.
I was pondering between Dusk and SA6 and went with these. Even tho I listen to lots of metal I also need a punchy & slammin' bass. I was a bit sceptical of SA6's BA bass actually being that punchy (and Chrono said it wasn't quite) so the choice was made. Also a bit of push at 3k isn't usually a big problem for me. Anyhoo, damn I just flippin' love the Dusk to bits! Punchy, smooth highs, lovely mids and a nice fit for me. Cheers once again for steering me in the right direction!
I loved my SA6 (sold em) absolutely amazing for electric guitars. But it totally lacked in sub/kick bass to me. I'm waiting for my Dusk to ship now. We'll see how they compare!
Was looking for a decent, all-rounder (but mostly for listening to music) iem and decided on these after watching a ton of videos and reading a lot of reviews. This review was very thorough and informative.👌 Can’t wait for them to get here!
Thank you for the very informative video. I personally do care a lot about the 5-6k peak as the resonant frequencies of some of my headphones also occur in this region. They sound intense and definitely take away some of the soundstage, hopefully dusk can balance it with mid and lower frequencies. Trying to order one at the moment.
Hi Andrew, I wonder how the Fiio FH5 for $259.99 compares this. In looking at Crinicle’s frequency response graph for the FH5, it appears the tuning is somewhat close to the Monarch. I really wish you guys would review the FH5. Have you guys ever heard it?
Great video! What si the "Best" iem for listen rock, metal, j-rock and more subgenres of these. And, a little bit classical, instrumental music. Please recomend me. My conclution is the dusk is more dynamic, more versatil. Do You think is the best option un a range of 300-600 usd? i'll appreciate your feedback.
As good as sounds goes I need to mention that the fit is a challenging issue for me. Beware of what doesn't fit your ear before purchasing.. that aspect alone can be a deal breaker.
Currently fighting over the Dusks and the Kato. Would you say the Dusk is worth the extra $130 compared to the Kato? I currently use and love my HD 6XXs, so I'm wondering if the Blessing 2 Dusks will give similar vibes to the 6XXs but in IEM form. This was an informative and great video btw!
I had the original Blessing 2 and the treble was a bit bright, maybe it was the fitting since the nozzle is so big it was uncomfortable during longer listening sessions, DMS did a review on the dusk and said the IEM needs deep insertion to alleviate some of the harsh treble. I've tried every tip size and couldn't get a proper seal. Hope the blessing 3 makes a smaller nozzle.
I've been enjoying the Blessing 2 Dusk with my portable setup ( mojo 2) for about 6 months. The performance is outstanding for the price and the tonal balance is perfect for me with no EQ. It positively changed my opinion about 'in ear' headphones, since I've always invested much more in my desktop setup ( Roon-HQplayer-ifi neo stream-Hugo TT2- Audeze LCD-5). It makes me curious about how much extra performance you can get when looking for more costly options. In your opinion which 'in ear' headphone would be the next step in terms of resolution and overall performance, with a similar frequency response?. Also curious what would be the endgame 'in ear', and if you invest in that top of the line what would be the most significant difference over the Blessing 2 Dusk?. cheers!
I have small ears and use the Small sized Marshmallow and Comply foams on my IEMs. For reference, the KZ ZS10 Pros fit me perfectly. My higher end IEMs don’t fit as well as those because of the bigger spouts. You say the Blessing 2s have bigger spouts. Can you compare to something like the ZS10 Pros? Just trying to see if these are with my time from a fit / comfort perspective. Thanks!
The only IEM's I've tried are apple the airpods and airpod pros. Can someone tell me how much better the blessing 2 dusk sounds? The problem with many IEM's is that there isn't a place to try them all to see decide on the one I want to buy.
Anyone know why my audio is inverted? The earbud with the image is put on my left ear and the logo earbud is on my right. I tried putting the logo earbud on my left ear but it just doesnt fit
I wish someone sent you tin p1 and p2. 😁 I just want to hear the detail retrieval comparison of p1 done by Andrew. Wanted to say this during review of Crin's iem. Because many reviewers stated p1 had detail level that's a lot above its price point and crinacle said it had underwhelming micro detail
@@Abhi-wn7sw I never listen to it without hip dacs Xbass. And since it's the only iem I own. (and only gear except that I have is koss kph30i so of course I can't compare details). I was about to buy 400i 2020 but bought p1 since it was on a deal, I wanted something light and I wanted to save up for higher end heapdhone. Love my p1 but I'd love to hear Resolve's opinion on it. 😁
@@Abhi-wn7sw the treble of p1 doesn't bother me even as much as koss kph30i. (on Fleetwood mac's Rumors album). It's mid forward with intimate vocals. I can't judge timbre as I'm still a noob.
@@Abhi-wn7sw if I had gotten 400i then, I would've bought a closed back heapdhone or a 500 dollar iem. Since I bought a low end iem, I will buy a full size high end headphone. Had too many choices but could buy only one at a time.. 😂
I really like your reviews but usually they are about iem price level which is still tough for me. Today I am quite happy - I got the Ikko OH10 and the Blessing 2 Dusk. So, I am still far away from any statement on what is what and how but... I would love to hear your judgement when comparing these two, especially in the mids and highs. Hope that is interesting for you and others.
Do you think it’s good idea to get the OH 10… how do you like them… I am enjoying Tanchjim O2 these days… it’s great Ilove the 3D presentation wonder if should still get the ikko’s✌️😁
@@jaroslavfricek7772 0H10 has very similar frequency presentation to Tanchjim 2. I am not sure you would like that. So, my rec is do a slide change, go for upgrade to 7hz Timeless (3D, clarity, very good timber) or Blessing 2 Dusk (a bit more airy, very very well tuned iem). If your budget is around $200 than 7hz is veeery good choice.
This is 1 year late but I wish you can help me, I own the OH10 and love it, except some peak here and there. But I want something more neutral with a bit sub bass and I am really interested with Dusk. So is Dusk safe without any peak? I tried og B2 and found some peakiness, and wish it is different with Dusk. Pls pardon my English.
This seems like a general clockwise tilt compared to the original blessing 2. I wonder if it's possible to change tips to change the tuning from one to another, though even with a clockwise tilt, the ~200hz area of the original blessing 2 would sound a little more bloated compared to the blessing 2 dusk.
@@abyss-yt think I’m going to get the original B2. For one, it’s already a good IEM from what everyone has been saying, & it’s available on Amazon w/ prime shipping. I think why a lot of people are conflicted on which to get has to do with the fact that a lot of ppl are saying there’s an ‘improvement’ (for some) on the dusk & confusing the ‘improvement’ for ‘fixing’ when there isn’t necessarily anything wrong with the B2 to begin with, since many of the reviews for those were great.
Dont know whether its the right question to ask or not, but is it possible to eq the B2 to sound like dusk and vice versa? since both of them consists of the same drivers, it technically can be eq-ed?
I think crinacle answered that question on his last stream , he did a couple of streams so far on his iem rankings. Hope this helps, he answers a lot of questions from the chat.
question: What are the sound differences in (any) full sized headphone using an amp only vs using an amp+dac? Because i have several amps but no dacs (i use my phone or ipad pro).
Why do all these mid price IEM’s drop off like a rock after 10 K ? Why can’t they at least get up to 15 K flat. If you heard this on the loudspeaker it would sound really dull. Is anybody out there ?
Can anybody tell which shell us left or right? Is it marked on the shells. How about polarity of the cable... How to put it in? And the filter, is if glued on or put in the nozzle?
Abit of a question, is it worth it to spend $330 on these? I’m a somewhat new audiophile (since 2020) and I’ve had only three cheap in-ears, all of them KZs (ZSX, ZST X and CRN). I’m curious if it’s actually time to take the leap to the more midrange lane now that I’ve slowly started to move from the budget lane.
While I haven't heard the Dusk myself. It should definitely be a large step up from those KZ iems. If you like the CRN then it seems like you already got a taste of Crin's tuning.
@@HalationSnow3535 after learning from the whole KZ gate thing…I feel kinda fucked over tbh but I’m guessing I’ll save up for a midrange like the Dusk to avoid going for brands with fake/non functional drivers…
@@WildWildWeasel Yeah it's very unfortunate to hear about the whole KZ situation. Pretty damn shady of them to be doing that with their IEMs. Their response didn't feel like much either tbh. Anyway, I guess as long as you didn't begin to start hating Crin after this whole ordeal (since Crin is involved with tuning the Dusk). I'd say saving up for something like the Dusk is a decent idea.
@@HalationSnow3535 @Russell Domingo I don't care much about Crinacle's personality since he takes his work seriously and that's all I care about tbh, I don't jump in the hate bandwagon as most of the people who hates him are also arses worse than what they complain about. As for Crin being "at fault" he never checked the whole crossover and drivers deal, he just cared about the FR and the goal was met, the KZs sound real good for their price so even with non-functional drivers they're still good sound for value if we're realistic about it. Also was there a response from KZ about it? I haven't seen one at all so far.
@@WildWildWeasel I feel the exact same way haha. I truly don't think either Crin or HBB was aware about the whole driver thing. I got a bit annoyed in seeing all the comments by people saying that there's no way Crin or HBB didn't know about the non functional drivers. Even though both Crin and HBB made it pretty clear that they don't handle the drivers and crossovers themselves. KZ's statement I think you can find on their facebook page.
Yall realise this waifu shaifu stuff is childish and asinine right? Is it only me that's laughing at this stuff ironically or are people serious degenerates now?
its a thing that moondrop does on their packaging, other moondrop iems also have some kind of anime art on the box. consider it as a different presentation method ig. the product itself is not meant to be anything about anime as such afaik. bit weird yea but in the end who's looking at the box after taking the iems out anyway lol
Just got it after a month of waiting, sounds great, but the bastard theives in the post office stole the slip cover that comes over the box. I'd have liked that slipcover
