Do you or any of your viewers know any way to move the handlebars, or at least the grips, back toward the rider about 3 to 4 inches so the rider can sit up straight instead of leaning forward? I have a 2008 R1200RT. Thanks!

Thanks for your question James and it's a good one. I am not aware of any 'Bar Backs' made for the R1200RT. Maybe one of the viewers has an answer to your question. I'm assuming here that you have the same handlebars that I do which are forged aluminum and not the tubular handlebars because I have seen tubular handlebars installed on RT's in some countries. There are many 3rd party vendors selling Bar Backs for tubular handlebars so it would be easy to find those but I don't know of any Bar Backs for the forged aluminum version. Sorry that I couldn't be more helpful. If you should find a vendor or a way of moving the handlebars back please let us all know. I think many of us would be interested in this information. Again, thanks for your question and good luck in your search for an answer. Cheers.

As a follow-up to your question and an FYI...... I found that Ilium Works does have a set of bar backs for the RT. Here is the link - iliumworks.com/BMW_Motorcycle_Accessories.cfm?pn=30%2D500&pID=103. Ilium Works has a RU-vid channel and I found an old video on how to install these bar backs. However, I don't think they provide the 3 or 4 inches movement back towards the rider that you want without having to change out the brake lines to the reservoir.

thanx for sharing ! I am gonna take a look at that seat cushion. Are you pleased with it ?

@STOPsignforRT 2 года назад
You're welcome Jurgen. I don't use the seat cushion a lot (mostly on longer road trips when my backside starts to get numb or hurt) but from the times that I have used it, it helped me ride a little longer and reduced any pains or uncomfortableness. The factory seat is pretty comfortable so I use this sparingly and only when needed. I agree with what most say about this seat cushion and that is, you don't want to fully inflate the bladders because that will make you feel like you're floating above the seat and you lose the connected feeling with the bike. Just add enough air to just get your body off the seat and that should be enough. When not in use, I just store it in my top case. Overall, its far cheaper than a custom seat and looks better than s sheepskin pad so yes, I have to say I am pleased with the purchase. But please get other opinions before buying and don't take just my word on it. Good luck and ride safe. Cheers 🥂/🍻

Thanks for sharing… what brand/make of “crash bars” did you install.

The engine crash protection bars are from Wunderlich America. The side case protection bars are from Ilium Works. Hope that answers your question. Cheers. 🥂

Thanks for sharing. What is cost on these additions?

Thanks for your question. This may take a little time to answer since I will have to find receipts / electronic transactions for them and some I will not be able to find at all. I'll do my best to get back to you with answers in another reply to your comment. Thanks for your patience.

you can't be very tall as that seat looks as thick as a dinner plate :)

:) On a Good (wishful thinking) Day: 5'8". On a Bad Day: 5'7". I need all the help I can get riding the RT. ps- I bought some BMW riding boots that give me some additional height so that I can flat foot at stops now. Yay.

@@STOPsignforRT I have a 2010 RT and I'm 6'1" and I can't get comfortable on it, as the seat to peg distance is so small. 3 seats later, still issues so I may have to look at the new GS.

@@MrHugawa I hear ya. I get cramping in the knees after awhile in the saddle on a trip and I've been thinking about adding lowered footpegs or highway pegs. I don't own a GS but I understand the seat/peg distance is much better than the RT so I think you'll find it a better fit for you than the RT. Best of luck with finding the right fitting bike.

Hi, I like the small size of the tank bag.What model is that?
@STOPsignforRT
@STOPsignforRT Год назад
Hi Carlos, The tank bag is a 'SW Motech Micro Tank Bank'. I believe it's the smallest tank bank they make. I evaluate and go over how to install this bag in another video, link follows: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GvzeQRza2AM.html I only keep small but important items that I need quick access to in this bag when I am on the bike. It is minimal and does not draw attention to itself which is another reason I preferred this model to the rest. Hope this helps. Cheers. 🥂

@@STOPsignforRT thanks for your answer. I liked it when I saw it in your video because it doesn't look intrusive. Cheers 🥂
