Fantastic demonstration of calm firm polite collected assertiveness! This would be a great training for assertiveness especially on a topic or situation you feel strongly about! You came prepared!

Perfect demonstration of how to use magic in your daily life. You don’t have to yell and scream, cause you were already wearing your crown of success. I’m such a low magic hoe, and this was a brilliant example of how an experienced practitioner does their work.

When you pulled out the information during the cat drama part of the video, I had to pause to collect myself from how badass that was!! Amazing video!!

I’ve worked in rescue for more than a decade. Before I even watched the video, I knew you weren’t getting the cat. As soon as the foster decides that they want the cat, the shelter will always side with the foster. I’ve seen it happen many times. 😕 But, with that being said, I’m in Virginia. We have so many cats we can’t pay people to take them, much less have someone fighting for one. I’m sad this happened to you, but the best way to look at it is sometimes rejection is divine protection, and there’s a better cat intended for you. 🖤🐈‍⬛

Cat rescue coordinator here and you handled this situation beautifully! The director there seems pretty knowledgeable, but with the workers/volunteers it sounds as if the left hand has no clue what the right hand is doing as the old saying goes. I'm in a rural area so SOMETIMES we're able to get a full history on a rescue, but for the most part as that director said, there's no way to know for sure whether a cat is dog/cat/child friendly until they're actually in that situation for an extended period of time. Volunteers telling potential adopters "oh yeah this cat is totally fine/not fine with other cats" just based in a short observation could really make or break an adoption and ultimately put the cat in a not so great position. Sounds like they're working on things and that's great 👍 Bane is just beautiful btw! He seems like a real "velcro kitty" and very attached to you, so there may be some separation anxiety happening (should get better as time goes on 💜).

The situation with the cat adoption is so appalling. There were clearly multiple screw ups or outright falsifications. You are amazing for keeping calm and clearly explaining what happened. I’m glad you were able to go out with your friend after. It’s great that she was there for you. I hope that the situation gets resolved. Also I love the cemetery shots.

All in my own speculation .. I feel like the foster person is cozy with one of the team members at the shelter and they decided they wanted to adopt the cat and basically undercut you like you said there’s plenty of cats and it’s hard to let go of you becoming attached but as an animal fosterer you need to make sure you don’t and if you do you don’t under cut someone who already has a hold on the animal they should have gone though the correct way and hoped the person who had the hold may change there mind obviously in this case you would have adopted but that’s not the point it’s wrong and I really hope things will resolve and and the foster family do the right thing and that the shelter put some new precautions in to make sure this doesn’t continue to happen 💚

That cat is in fact your cat. Legal action should be taken unless they retrieve him back from the people who have him. Those currently adopters could also take legal action against that shelter. Do not give up

My former sister-in-law worked as a foster for an independent rescue org/shelter (and she was also an animal hoarder which they knew and ignored and kept giving her more animals), and in my experience a lot of independent rescue orgs are notoriously unprofessional and nepotistic. If the foster wants an animal, they will just do whatever they have to do to give it to the foster, even if that is lying outright and falsifying documents. Honestly, the stuff I saw with her situation turned me off independent animal rescue orgs in general. It was appalling. Anyway, sorry this happened to you. How frustrating. And you did a great job of keeping your cool. It was a masterclass is covering your ass and standing in your strength.

Meanwhile in my country you can just fetch any animal you want from the street 😅 this has been roughest retrograde indeed 😩 I hope the kitty will find a loving home and you can set intentions for the right cat who wants to live with you to choose you or come to you if you havent already it doesnt need to be cat specifically too. It worked wonders for me each time ❤

This sounds like the hell when through when I had to kennel my two dogs and the adopted them out, then when I went to pick them up at the kennel/shelter. I was told that they got adopted. Then I asked who adopted them. One was shipping off to the other side of the state, and the other one was adopting here, and I know this because I saw the adoption page put up for here and said adopted. Yet the stupid shelter conveniently didn’t have records of anybody adopting them or them ever been kenneled there. I told them I wanted them back. I told them I was gonna sue if they didn’t return my dogs. Then I never heard back until one day I got a call telling me that they were both passed on. I was so furious! It also doesn’t surprise as the director got fired for embezzlement.

Olivia, it means nothing but I'm sending you my blessings. I really, really hope that you get your other baby. It enrages me that this has happened to you guys. Your confidence, energy and ability to deal with that situation so calmy is very inspiring for such a hot head witch like myself. Thank you for your whole channel. I'm constantly on awe.

They always scream adopt don’t shop and then pull a stunt like this. Honestly they need to be sued so they can learn a lesson and understand that they need to honor their contract. I almost feel like there need to be oversight groups for these agencies as well especially since I don’t feel they vet potential fosters and adopters well. I was holding a piece of shattuckite between the palms of my hands . I just brought this piece home (was sound cleansed at the store) and was writing it up in my journal, adding it to my kit list. I stopped writing as I was drawn into your story about the cat situation, the in person part in the shelter, and then when you were talking about Bane's needs. I got a sudden pang of pain in both my throat and my heart and felt your truest emotions at that moment when your were hurting from Bane's need. I could feel your pain for him and your need to listen and give him his best life. It was beautiful, but the pain I felt... made me set the rock down. What I also know, that the throat pain was your need to be heard and to make a positive change... to make things better. Not just for Bane, and all the work you did to find his family, but to make things better at the shelter as well. The level of professionalism with which you handled things: going in prepared and able to speak in a clearly legally informed get grious and non- threatening way was beautiful. You would make an excellent advocate for a cause your are passionate about. You have strong communication skills. Can I suggest a video topic? You are so beautifully in tune with Bane. You could see this clearly in his communication with you...on screen and your connection energetically. My topic idea is... that process you went through... what your criteria were... how you found the vibe. What you looked for energetically. What pulled you in and let you know. Just an idea because that's where my mind went when you were explaining the work you did. I would, personally love to see what steps you recommend for others perhaps, wishing to bring the same level of intention to their choices. I would not ask you to share anything of too personal a space, but rather how others can honor their attraction of the right fellow earth bound companions. I miss having animals in my family. As a nomad, kind of hard. But I'm learning to enjoy wildlife interactions more sacredly.

I really hope you get this cat too. I used to foster kittens and my best friend used to foster special needs cats until a forever home for them could be found, and you're so right, fostering is so different from adopting! I did end up adopting two kittens I fostered (i know, I failed, haha) but fostering is very different from adopting and they don't have legal ownership of the cat if that's the case. If it is a foster, and because the cat had to have a serious surgery and needed special care, I think it's very possible for the foster family to want to give the cat to a loving person who wants them! Part of the joy of fostering is seeing that animal get to go to a loving forever home, and many foster parents want to foster many animals to help as many as they can and aren't looking to adopt. I hope this is the case for you!

Very professional, and you had all the legal papers ready to go as proof. still sounds very fishy and that there was wheeling and dealing behind the scenes that that director dosen't know about. This shelter seems hella shady. Poor records is a reflection of management. I bet this was a shitty place to work, because I used to work at a vet clinic that was the same way. Always mistakes in the system, and I tried to catch the ones I could as they came up, but I ultimately ended up getting fired for someone else's mistake. Everyone there was afraid of making mistakes. You could tell when they were training me that they were afraid of management, who didn't even work in the same building as us.

What I don’t understand is why this keeps happening? There is an epidemic in stray cats, most shelters are desperate for adopters or fosters, why would they cancel a hold on someone who is adamant they want not one but two cats??? That’s the kind of thing most shelters or vets dream for! Mad respect to how you handled this situation, and I really hope you find the best companion for you and your little buddy!

Milwaukee?!?! I LIVE in Milwaukee!!! Man, I would've loved to just see ya from afar! I used to live a few blocks away from Cafe Plaza. Love, love, LOVE their food! Esp the patio or central area where you can watch the cook right in front of you! 😃 I used to be a cafe gal myself either doing teacher thangs or coloring. you should consider going to court if the foster family declines to honor the original agreement- I think you will absolutely need to get a lawyer to make this case before a judge to have this rectified. In many states, once an animal is adopted or "changed" ownership- that's it. It doesn't matter how the animal gets to their destination and the issue has to be settled out in court. My then-boyfriend and I were approved to adopt a cat, no one had inquired about this cat in the 2.5 years he had been in foster care, the shelter called us to say we were approved but they were a little concerned about our catio set up (we allow supervised time on a patio) and I said I'd be happy to make adjustments to the space, etc. they never called back. The foster was supposed to contact me, but she never did. The shelter never followed up. I was beyond upset. Since we had no holds placed I didn't pursue it and just assumed this foster decided she wanted to keep the cat- but we were incredibly disappointed. Another time, I wanted to adopt a senior cat in a kill shelter. 11 years old. He was not doing well. First, I was told that my then-boyfriend had to sign the adoption papers too because we'd be living in the same space (even though I was adopting the cat, not him- legally speaking... if things hadn't worked out, the cat would be with me... but whatever...). So, he signs for the cat. Then, they never called me to confirm pickup after someone already said we were approved. I called, and come to find out my property manager (a new guy) had said "no" bc of our 1 cat policy, which was NOT the policy when we first moved in so I knew we were grandfathered in... but the shelter never called me to give me the opportunity to get the letterhead I needed to have the adoption approved. OK, so I go through that hoop. Emailed the letter granting approval. This was now several days later, I was told that we were approved, that I could pick Henry up etc. But, a new catch, my boyfriend had to also be present... They only allowed 24-hour holds and he absolutely could NOT come on the day they wanted us both to be there (commuting student, it just wasn't going to happen). So, I offered to pay the full adoption fee, to pay a kenneling fee, just to hold Henry 2 more days until a day we could both go... they said NO. So I said, "well, that doesn't make any sense- he's a senior cat, he isn't doing well, I have the legal letterhead saying I can take him, you've already done background checks on both me and my boyfriend.... you're now telling me that I can't take him home- when I can bring him home in 24 hours and instead I have to risk waiting another 72 hours on the off chance that he MIGHT be there Monday and MIGHT not be euthanized by then??" Lots of pushback, some crap about policies etc. So I pushed the issue for them to bump it up to their director- because what they were saying and doing just seemed like it didn't make ANY sense, policies be damned. In the end, the sheltered settled on me sending in a copy of my boyfriend's driver's license and his copy of some release papers via email... I was able to pick him up the next day. I was SO incredibly stressed out because there was a high probability Henry was going to be euthanized that weekend due to lack of shelter space... NO ONE had been inquiring about him either!!!! Thank goodness that the director had common sense. With your story, part of me really thinks someone knew that foster family and knew the foster wanted to keep him. Foster probably expressed interest when they learned about your hold and someone on the inside did them a favor (with or without anyone else's knowledge). Sending you positive vibes and praise for keeping your cool and I'm glad you pressed forward to the director.

Glad you followed up with them so firmly. It almost sounds like the family fostering that cat might've been new to the whole affair, and 'foster failed' which many new fosters do. It sucks that it happens so often. Also I find it sus that their like, "We have people put holds on multiple animals in the hopes of getting just one,' like they don't have a policy BEFORE that to stop mass-holds? My local shelter doesn't allow holds, however, we are free to adopt animals (kittens, puppies, recovering dogs and cats) ahead of their care, and just wait out the recovery (multiple adoptions are allows as well, 2 at a time if they're in the same kennel, and bonded animals too). I had to laugh when the manager flat out said, "We screwed up!" which is credible. Hoping for the best, and hoping the foster family didn't have any malignant involvement in this. At the very end of the day, this teaches you to stay very far away from this shelter later on. Hopefully there are more in your area, and certainty there are plenty of black cats that still need a loving home (we sure have a lot here in southern California).
