Noraly, find yourself a Velcro strap and keep it wrapped out of the way on the right handlebar. Use it to lock the front brake lever. You'll find it a lot easier to lift the bike if both wheels don't roll. In today's episode the front wheel kept rolling out while you were trying to lift the bike. Good luck and thanks for taking us on your amazing adventure.

Back in the day, we had parts strapped all over our bikes, even spare cables tied to the old cables. That way a crash didn't leave us stranded. Used strips cut out of inner tubes.

I woke up this morning and looked at my desk diary. The message for today read: Life is a journey that must be travelled no matter how bad the roads and accommodation. After watching today's episode, I can only agree. The greatest quality you have is that you never give up and you approach every problem with a positive attitude. You bring out the best in everyone you meet. Today the road was bad, but you travelled it anyway as best you could. Life is too short to be miserable. Shine on Noraly. :)

Speechless… Everyone needs to find their own path and be who they are in life. But watching and listening to Noraly, when faced with adversity that for most people, including myself, that would be a catastrophe and would leave little to the imagination with respect to colorful verbal metaphors, is just completely inspiring. I watch these videos and it is as if a wave of positivity and optimism washes over me, enveloping me in desire to be a better person, and challenges me to see the best in every situation regardless of just how bad a situation is. My new manta… “What would Noraly do?!” And that is not a bad path to follow.

So why complain about it as if it is a problem? Take it off your problem list and focus on living life as it comes. “ That philosophy has helped me keep my problem list realistic and manageable in life, avoid depression times, heal my anxiety and go forward when stuck in life. This some how reminds me of an occasion in Ocotepeque Honduras, where an old and very kind gentleman offered me a ride in his bicycle, it was pouring rain and I was walking in the road trying to get to a hotel, the closest one about ten miles ahead, and no one around but this old man in his bicycle who doubt not to offer his help, I was very grateful yet reluctant to the idea (considering my weight and the road conditions) thus denied its aid, fortunately, short after, although soaked and miserable a pick up gave us both a lift, and I was reminded of how precious human kindness is.

I don’t know where you’re from mate but standard procedure is jump up and down swearing at the bike for five, maybe six minutes while throwing rocks at it. Find the nearest neighbour, pull the cat from under the table and kick it in the ding ding then politely ask for a box of matches. Return to the bike, burn it and catch the next flight back to Australia. Job done. Never go back. Simples.

At least you didn’t get hurt dropping Alaska and the damage was relatively minor. These things happen. When this happens to me I tend to dwell on it, you have a very good attitude and move forward, your doing it the right way. Enjoyed the episode and alway’s looking forward to what you are going to show next. ✌️

Many crashes have occurred since one event took place. You had road tires installed. I know you had to because they were the only ones available but I say this so you don’t beat yourself up. We can obviously see the difference is these tires since we have seen you go through much worse before with no adverse results. Keep smiling and thank goodness you just dump the bike and don’t try to save it. Just glad no serious injuries. You are one tough cookie

Another great video. I'm from Guatemala and visit quite regularly but didn't know about the public baths. Thanks for spotlighting Xela. My parents were born there and it always good to see the cobblestone streets. And good to see the people helping you out.

Wow, public baths in a volcanic area. Now that really reminds of the excavations at Pompei and Herculaneum! The Roman baths were quite spectacular and served as important social gathering sites. Lake Atitlan was remarkable, it’s one of the larger calderas in the world. When you go through the US I hope you get a chance to stop at Crater Lake, Oregon. Also one of the larger calderas in the world.

Tip: When lifting your bike, put a small piece of velcro tape around the front brake. You can just wind the velcro tape around your handlebar when you don't use it - works a treat.
