This episode is about my return to AFRICA! I've returned to my beloved Honda CRF300RALLY "Alaska" after leaving her for 4 months in Benin and I am crossing the land border into Nigeria. There are tons of roadblocks in Nigeria, and some are more legit than others, and I am generally a bit wary of them because you never know what will happen..

Hi Noraly I'm James also a Nigerian. I was half expecting you to come up with a story why you wouldn't be able to continue with Nigeria. I'm very happy you didn't. Nigeria has had a lot of bad press for security but I must let you know it's not as it seems. nigeria may turn out to be your best African experience yet. If you're still in Nigeria and need any guidance or assistance, I'm here to help. Don't give more than necessary attaention to the talks of security threats. Nigeria is a safe place for tourists. I live in LAGOS , Nigeria and have travelled north, south east and west of Nigeria and still travel it till date. Welcome to Nigeria and have a blast. P.S. To get a sim card you'd need a citizen who'd ready to use his ID to get one for you.

Great memories. I grew up in Nigeria. My father worked as a peadatrician at the Wesley Guild Hospital in Ilesha where he was part of a program researching measles. We received the first doses of the recently developed measles vaccine which was being tested at the hospital and in the surrounding communities. The only way to travel to Nigeria at the time was by freight steamer but by the time we left in 1961, BOAC was operating flights out of Kano to Europe. All the roads outside of Lagos were dirt and ony a few of the rivers were bridged. Hope you are able to enjoy the wonderful people and their brightly coloured clothes and your experience is not tainted by the security issues.

For future reference, to prevent rust build up, spray all respective parts with WD-40 (blue can). That was the purpose of its invention during WWII. I'd use it on the chain, bolt threads, pivot points, and any bare metal. You can use it on plastic too (keeps animal dropping's, tree sap, etc. from sticking too hard).

The tinted helmet has been of great help to her because they could not see who was behind the helmet. I still admire her courage. It is like just watching with your mouth open and waiting for something to go wrong. You need to see the reaction when she told them she was going to Abuja on that bike. The thought she was mental and not possible. Goed gedaan meisje. Proficiat.

Yay! I have caught up with Noraly's uploads in real time! A few weeks ago, my RU-vid feed displayed one of the Return to Africa videos; after I watched that one and a couple of the others in that series, I knew I needed to back up and watch ALL of them from the beginning. I just watched the last one in the second India series last night, and here I am, ready to watch the first Nigeria episode. These videos are the best thing on RU-vid, hands down.

@JAIYE8

@@andersnilsson6625 the perspective of the Swedish Foreign Affairs Ministry is for people who are risk adverse and I think it's to make travelers more conscious of their environments when they travel. I'm not Nigerian but Nigeria is a country I visit often. I'm not saying this bc I'm black or African but bc I have first hand experience of what it is to be there. I recently came back from the Middle East and let me tell you I felt very insecured in certain neighborhoods at night more than I have felt in Lagos. In the US, you can be gunned down in a Mall, on the streets in the blink of an eye. Danger lurks everywhere on this planet and the best reaction isn't to shrink into our shelves but to learn how to navigate the tortuous roads on our journey. Ofcourse, we don't learn much about ourselves by "hiding" in our comfort zones. You may like to follow "Authentic Traveling", he is an expert of traveling in Nigeria
