What a farce! 😆 I remember, when load shedding hit all I heard was generators all over the neighborhood. The smell of them was terrible. It’s even hard to charge and run electric cars in Europe but no let’s push them in SA. 😂
@@GrowMyBitcoinso true With high number of thieves we have how will charge them Here in Scotland the chargers are sometimes stolen😂😅 And this is in a low crime country
@@williamshakur8715 you going to need a hell of a lot of solar panels and inverter/batteries for that. Then you’ll still be taxed for the solar. Plus the solar panels don’t last forever. And still what happens if you out and about and run out of charge. Hilarious! 🤣
At some point automakers will no longer make ICE cars (perhaps as early as 2035) so we'd better transition sooner than later. Australia kickstarted their EV transition by importing second hand cars. I'm hoping conversion kits could become available - there are a few companies working on this. Ideally owners should recharge vehicles at home overnight (most vehicles need only be charged once a week depending how far you drive). Public rechargers should come from solar panels covering the recharge area (and hopefully also the roof of the coffee shop at the facility where drivers can wait until their car has been recharged. If owners live in a complex then perhaps they could share a few recharge points using solar. Newer EVs have the added advantage of enabling V2G storage, so by owning an EV we could accelerate the SA energy transition. Once EU & North America no longer need fossil fuels, developing countries might find ourselves left behind - can you imagine how much fuel could cost then?! Ideally what SA should be doing is implementing kick-ass active & public transit so owning a car is not necessary. In many parts of the EU there are car-share schemes around every corner for when a car is needed...
