Apparently the FCC doesn't email your license anymore. You have to wait 24 to 48 hours after you submit your application, then log back in using your FRN to view and download/print your license. Did mine today.
I got a two pack of those radios, the my radios did not come with the two longer antennas and programming cable. really enjoyed the video of the radios.
Thank you for the video. Glad you feel ok. I heard your voice was off a bit in another of your videos. I’m still using your discount code for Freeze Dry Wholesalers. Thank you for that also.
GMRS definitely has its place being channelized and easy for an entire family to use under one cheap license. But in an actual emergency these bands will likely be jammed packed and chaotic.
That is why I prefer the UV-5r. It can be easily unlocked to use many more frequencies including GMRS. In an emergency situation you are, according to FCC rules, allowed to broadcast on frequencies, even if you have no license, for the duration of the emergency.
Already did in April its here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-714InGs0ick.html Its the radio I mounted on my ebike for mobile comms on it.
I'm in Pahrump to,if there is a repeater in Vegas can we piggyback off that repeater and hit a Boulder repeater and then to Laughlin ? ? We have cb's right now,met 5 great dudes on the cb here in Pahrump. They have a Facebook 🎉 such cool stuff we are learning. Thanks for sharing 🍸.
On a GMRS repeater? The only ones I know of are the Rat 625 machine and Paul's 650 machine here in town, There are many ham repeaters we have here in town that are linked into Vegas however, What is the link to the CB page, I had a CB here for a while but seemed no one was ever on it.
You really dont need to know anything about them if you dont want too , you can use them like a CB radio in that you just turn them to the same channel and they will talk to each other ,,, most ppl use channels 15 through 22 ,,, i bought them without knowing anything about them and i learned as i went.
Avoid lithium-ion batteries like the plague for emergency preparedness. I have a bunch of UV-5Rs and sold off the included batteries. I use adapters that let me use glorious AA batteries instead.
