Her knowledge of cars and what was on previous versions, etc. is encyclopedic. I haven't seen a car reviewer more knowledgeable than her. Yet another great review.
The wider stance is a welcome change. Honda really paid attention to making this car perform to it's capabilities. I'm not surprised that you like this car so much. The fun factor is high.
I seriously blew soda on my screen when you popped up those three finger-pointers! 😂 What a fabulous review… this video is going to get massive view numbers. I’m a boomer who would definitely buy this car. Thank you, Sarah. 👍👍👍
@@ytsux9259 You didnt heard? They even stopped the production to fix the issue. There was a weird noise going on after a couple of thousand miles. Tedward talk alot about it in his videos.
I haven't been in the car market for years, but I still watch every one of Sarah's reviews for the balanced breakfast of enthusiasm and nerdy details. Makes this Type-R that much more impressive, as Sarah never pulls punches. 👍
You are absolutely a journalist. You don't need to go to school for it. You just have to report what you see, and you did that again here. Great review.
I like this gen Type R over the last gen version. The smoother lines and better designed rear. I also agree make the damn thing a 3 door hatch instead of 4 door hatch. If I could find one without the mark up I would buy it in a heartbeat. Great video as always Sarah, your humor and silliness is top notch.
3 door hatch? You mean like the Veloster? That car doesn't sell, probably because of "pRaCTicAliTy". I love the veloster but I am afraid they might axe that car. And a whole lot of people would not buy the Type R if it was a 3 door.
Hey Sarah, simply one of the greatest cars ever. you don’t need a journalists vocabulary your face and your enthusiasm says it all fantastic review Thank you.🐧🐧🐧👍
Im a long-time viewer, a first-time talker, and somehow found the courage to speak up today. I can feel you're passionate and love for the automotive world. In my eyes, I truly view you as a modern day super hero. After watching this video, I bought a 2024 FL5. Thank you so much for your guidance, for myself and the others who will need you in the future.
Late to the party 😆 But I just picked up a 24 type r and love this car. Thanks for another awesome and informative walk around as always your the best ! :)
You keep setting the new standard for car reviews ! Your attention to detail and talking about upgrades from previous versions is amazing.. I’ve learned more about models than from any other technicians. Your informative, funny and a joy to watch.
Yeah, but no... “There is no provincial prohibition in Canada on [dealerships] selling vehicles for more than MSRP,” said George Iny, president of the Automobile Protection Association, an automotive consumer advocacy group based in Toronto." Jason Tchir. Special to The Globe and Mail. Published November 27, 2022. The prohibition is concerned about advertised price, but MSRP is advertised by a manufacturer, not by a dealer, so...
@IvanDoh once the price is advertised by the manufacturer in a paper, commercial, website, etc, they can't ask for more. They can only add the applicable taxes, and destination fees.
As thorough as usual Sarah. A much nicer looking car than the previous generation Civic. That's about all I've got to say as you've covered it all. Many thanks.
Some of your best work to date- and that is saying something. As an FK8 owner I appreciate the functional improvements. But still prefer the 10th gen styling.
How to get Sarah's OCD into overdrive: Sarah, could you let us know how many zerk fittings there are on each car you review? Love the artistic camera shots in this. 💪
Great video and review. Thank you. I just purchased one on 12/23/23 from my local Honda Dealership in Maine in same color as the one you tested. I was called dealer who noted they just got one and were reaching out to all of those who at same point over the past year emailed them about one and when I asked how much I was shocked when I was told at MSRP. Needless to say I bought it. Love it so far.
1:05 you also said the tip has grown on you. I giggled like a teenager. Love the videos. They are fun; Informative without being boring. Keep up the great work!
40k plus 5k dealer mark-up tag is NOT cheaper/steal! Severs also years ago we only need to pay 35k for a legendary Rally beast: 300hp Turbo + full time super AWD w differentials + Recaro buckets + 4 n 2 brembos + BBS + dual cluntch + Bilstein shocks + Endless tunability! And of course the “useless” 4 doors n seats lol.
I would definitely buy this instead of a typical "super car", and not just because it's a tenth the price. You get all that performance, the ability to bring along more than 1 passenger, plenty of cargo space, AND Honda reliability. I agree they should offer it as a 3-door hatch along with the 5-door, but apparently Americans don't "get" such vehicles. And being a 4-cylinder compact car, the gas mileage doesn't totally suck, so you really could road-trip one (that's where the "comfort" drive mode would come into play). Another fun review, and I for one am glad you're not a typical "auto journalist".
I own one and a 2020 Porsche c4s, they are so close on grip and speed from 2nd and up its scary. Unbelievable car and this was the best review I've seen!!!
I just had a guy this past weekend in I believe a 2023 Civic R "race" me on a desolate rural state road (520 between Cocoa and Bithlo for you central Floridians)...he kept getting beside me and wanting to go. I have to admit he was much faster than any stock Honda I have ever witnessed and the car looked pretty cool too. Unfortunately for him I was in a similar weight car but with an extra 400+ HP. My 2018 Porsche GT2 RS
I have not cracked up this much during a car review in a while. I enjoyed all the attention to detail. 10/10. Will be checking out more reviews. It is a crime what dealerships are doing to this market. I've been dreaming for the previous r and now they're even more untouchable. Just called about test driving an si after it lands and nope, can't even do that. I'll have to say it's for RU-vid before they'll consider letting us regular car enthusiasts test drive a new model. 😅
My brother had a late 70s--early 80s civic hatch. It only had 2nd and 4th gear sometimes 5th. We drove the crap out of that thing and it never let us down!
Glad you liked it. I love the look of this latest Type-R. It is elegant and sporty at the same time. I like that it'll be a car to appreciate. That'll make it more than worth the ownership. (:
If I could spare the bread to trade my '23 Integra 6MT for this top performer, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Sarah, this is my favorite review that you've done so far. Great prep and great work conveying the fun details of this solid street legal funbox. I want one too!
My first time seeing your review.. absolutely brilliant so in depth and knowledgeable, you have to give it Honda. Evolution of the Type R is spot on.. no wonder dealers are pricing it so much over MSRP 😮
Sarah, another great reaction from you on this car. I had an original Civic many decades ago and generally felt the car was specifically holding back, just because it didn't like me. (confidentially, I think it was cranky having been ripped from it's Mother Japan and would not do what it was built to do over here). The only problem I ever had was the oil pan. Had to replace that twice in the five years we were together because it would warp. Sigh.
Thanks Sarah for a great review. And exactly, the dealers are jacking up the prices, so it's a deal killer. Too bad we can't deal directly with the manufacturer.
I love my FL5 in Boost Blue, and plan on keeping it forever, not for resale however, but as my daily driver. If you dont mind putting in the work, you can find these for a somewhat decent price, compared to the 20-25K markups. I contacted over 100 dealers in over 10 states, and different regions, to find one for less than 10K markup, and this was when they just hit the market, ended up paying just under 53K.
Should have mentioned that unique front suspension design a bit more. It’s like a cross between McPherson strut and double wishbone. The strut itself doesn’t turn with the steering, and instead it has a small knuckle with upper and lower ball joints inside the wheel, for better SAI and scrub radius, which helps eliminate torque steer. The newer CTR is the only car I’ve ever seen this suspension design on. Also that aluminium splash tray underneath has been used on almost all Hondas since at least 2016 or so. My mom’s CRV had the exact same panel.
