yeah but i like THESE kinda tragic stories cuz u know usually they show tragedy in gay romance stuff that is related to homophobia , self acceptance (internal homophobia),social discrmination and its conseqeunces etc etc i mean we deserve "normal" trgedies too lol. Yes we need real stories there but why only sad ones . I think we deserve happy endings (like cinderella stories not realistic i know but we deserve them too) and also normal tragedies by which i mean it can happen to anyone regardless of sexuality like these lol

@@aks721990 agreed, we need a full spectrum of representation and I'm glad that even though lgbtq characters do die in this show, it's not exactly the whole "bury your gays" trope since their deaths have nothing to do with their sexuaIity and all sorts of characters are killed off in TLOU, they're just treated like any other characters

@@aks721990 tbh compared to the game i feel like bill and frank did get their happy ending, well as happy as they could get, either way frank kills himself , atleast bill doesn’t become a bitter old man like in the games and he goes out with the love of his life. yeah it’s shitty all the gay characters don’t have a ending where they are alive lol but i don’t think that’s something relevant to the last of us and how beautifully they where able to add representation while keeping the storyline similar

Because same as the letter in Ep 3..that moment is the reason we got that flash back, it all comes together at that moment. That hand holding was Ellie's resounding "I'm not f'ing leaving you" and the squeez back was Joel's "I'm not going to die, I need to live for this kid" is he 100% comming to terms with the fact that Ellie is everything for him now. So yeah..that's why we all broke at that moment.

When he told her to leave but you could see the tear coming down the side of his face you knew how he was feeling and then when she went back to him (we all knew she wasn’t going to leave him I’m not a game player but it’s Ellie she wasn’t leaving) and then when she was holding his hand and the fingers laced and he squeezed back it was cemented how he feels about her even though he was more open after their discussion this really drove it home plus he’s always so independent it’s sweet to see him really not only need someone but know he’s connected with them

Yes, I think the show is driving home Ellie's survivor guilt much more, which will be very important in season 2's content. The show has been able to dive into character moments more, and I love it for that (still love the game's portrayal of the narrative as well, of course). The only scene I think wasn't improved upon in the show so far was the "you're not my daughter" scene. It just hit harder in the game, because Joel's character and the context of the scene is different between the show/game (and not different as in "worse," just different). Acting/performance wise, they were equally good.

Yep, exactly how I feel. The way Joel and Ellie are in the original game works from a 2013 gameplay and story standpoint- Joel is basically a superhuman-level, stoic killing machine but opens up to Ellie who reminds him of Sarah; Ellie is a very mature, calm but sassy teenager, but they don't delve any deeper into trauma she may have experienced. But the show is delving even further by adding the PTSD Joel would realistically have of losing Sarah and Tess, and how Ellie's anger and loneliness from her years in FEDRA military school are still in her present-day personality. They have backstories that shape how they are and what they do, and I honestly prefer the show's characterizations for them bc they feel even more well-rounded.

I think a lot of gamers in 2013 were also younger and dumber, and literally just didn't pick up on the extremely obvious "hints" that Bill was gay. And not everyone played the DLC, so they might not have known Ellie was a lesbian. The second game came out, and these idiots got retroactively offended about the first game's DLC, so they could "justify" being mad about Ellie and other non-hetero normative characters in the sequel. Honestly they can just die mad about it. One of the best video game stories ever made is queer af, and it's now becoming the best adapted video game story to date. And will likely win tons of awards, just like the games did.

It makes me giggle seeing the people who have only watched the show throw a massive fit over the gay moments knowing Ellie is a full raging lesbian with a girlfriend in the second game so that’s what they’re gonna have to fortunately deal with in the second season💀.

I believe episode 3 was perfect for ferreting out the bigots and getting them off the show. I personally know multiple people, plus a couple reactors that I liked that stopped after that episode because of the gay stuff. Like, good, the trash is taking itself out 🎉
