The willingness of Troy Baker's character in this episode to kill Ellie despite having been told by David to spare her repeatedly makes me think that he knew the man's "hobbies" and was honestly trying to spare her from it. Don't know if it's legit but just a feeling I got

The fact that David, after pinning Ellie down, moved his hand and was trying to unzip his trousers nearly made me vomit. It was so difficult to watch and Bella Ramsey's acting was spectacular. Her screams really made us feel how she, and anyone in that sort of position, would feel. The vindication the viewers feel when she kills him too. David is scarier than the cordyceps and any infected because people like him (those with power and control over people or communities/religious figures/teachers) actually exist 🤢

10:17 he said Venison, not medicine. And towards the end, David said the “fighting” is the part I like the most

Just a really really disturbing point: that meat was the father of the girl, the wife is the one that asked what kind of meat it was... if you re-watch David right before he starts eating, he gives the girl a knowing look, she's eating her dead dad.

The reason he told the girl they need to wait until the spring to bury her father is because he was serving him as dinner to her the same night...

Loved your reaction. A few things if I may: 1) They really didn’t leave any imagination behind with what David’s intentions were and that was even more terrifying. 2.) Bella Ramsey captured Ellie’s trauma response so beautifully. Ellie takes all of her pent up anger, rage, pain, grief and trauma thus far on to David and is completely overcome. The thousand-yard stare, screams, wide eyes, shock, and disassociation was so heartbreaking. David preys on her worst fear, which is that she’ll end up alone, and in the moment she leaves the burning building, she truly believes she’s all alone. So when she sees Joel, not only is she reeling from her trauma, this is the first time she’s seeing him okay after he’s been injured for the last several days. 3.) I love how Pedro Pascal delivered Joel’s line “Hey, look, it’s me-it’s okay baby girl” with such a tenderness and comfort. Joel doesn’t even know what happened to her, he just knows this terrified, traumatized little girl needs his assurance and love. I think this is the first time we’re hit with the reminder that Ellie can be both a spunky, badass teen, and a traumatized little girl needing a hug. I’ve heard from many people who’ve experienced SA that the end scene was so moving because that’s just what you should do for someone who’s been immediately traumatized. Pedro and Bella are perfectly cast, they deserve all the awards, and this show is just too flipping good! ❤

Everybody is like YES! When she’s killing him and I was too at first but she’s 14 years old, he kidnapped her and tried to kill her and then tried to sexually assault her… then he forced her to kill him brutally, the amount of trauma this girl will have for the rest of her life is unreal. Love Bella so much what an amazing actor/actress Bella needs an award immediately

im pretty sure Bella just goes by any pronouns. Pedro still uses she/her when referring to her in interviews and stuff so i dont think she's specified a pronoun preference unless i somehow missed that

This was really good. As someone who have been S.A. This was definitely hard to watch, but also, the fact that she was able to fight and save herself is so powerful. Definitely left some trauma.

"The infected are bad, but the humans are worse." one thousand percent, and this stays consistent. You know what infected are capable of and you know what to expect with them. There is no limit to how depraved and sadistic some people can be in the name of "survival", and that's the true horror of this game/show.

After this episode I actually had to look for how to do a penicillin shot..because it bothered me that if I was in the same situation I wouldn't have any idea what to do, same as Ellie 😅

Trauma. The guy who gave the kitchen workers said "venison" (deer meat) not "medicine". The meat they were eating was most likely Alec, which means he fed the girl her father and that's why they weren't burying him. Most likely their plan was to have a coffin they sealed shut with rocks in it or something and claim his body was inside. It would have been decomposing for months, so they wouldn't open it to find out. The reason Alec tried to immediately stab Joel when he saw him was most likely because Joel was supposed to be their meal, but he got away and they had to do with eating Alec instead. The fact David was a teacher prior to this is gross and in my interpretation, he got caught being inappropriate with students and the apocalypse stopped his trial early and that's how he "found God after the apocalypse".

ellies screams were haunting. this episode was so scary

This episode made me fell so much worse than I felt when I played this section. Really loving what they are doing with the show.

When Joel and Ellie FINALLY got back to each other I could barely hold it together. Best acting partners of the year, I swear. The acting makes me so emotional every single episode.

Dont know if u know but Bella shot the reunion scene with Pedro BEFORE even shooting the scene where she kills David. That makes it 10x more impressive for me.

TRAUMA! This episode was phenomenal! Bella's acting was incredible, she really makes you feel what someone in that position would feel. Her screams were terrifying. Joel's "It's Okay Baby Girl" broke my heart! They both really needed that hug, especially Ellie. The amount of trauma she has is ridiculous! I can't believe the next episode is already the finale, I don't want it to end.

That boss battle between Ellie v David in the game was soooo scary and the show did well capturing that as well as Ellie's cathartic hack n slash fest.

i was so hoping they would cast troy baker (voice and motion capture actor for joel in the video game) as one of the guys that gets interrogated by joel so that we could see a scene with both joel’s, but BOY was he so good as james

Bella did such an amazing job with this episode not to mention Scott who plays David did such a good job some how making him seem so creepy and gross. Props to them!!

Well, you say trauma, I say collective trauma. It's funny how most afab people I've seen on tiktok commenting about David is that we all got the vibes much faster. And honestly he deserves every blow he got, I hope he's really minced in tiny little pieces, he had it coming. I even think he also was doing things to the other girl (with him calling himself a father for both the girl (hannah? I forgot) and ellie. And Bella deserves all the awards, they are so amazing, they're crushing it all season.

I hope two things were explained to you, one, the girls father that Joel killed, they ate him, which means they fed him to his own daughter. Also, when David is trying to SA Ellie, he doesn’t say it’s the biting he likes, it’s the fighting he likes. Your clip inserts were hilarious btw and the ending where Joel calls her Baby Girl, made my eyes water ( a lot!!). Trauma! This episode covers the section of the game that made me the most nervous. Ellie is essentially on her own with Joel out of commission. The stuff with David was so traumatizing that I completely forgot about the fight in the sawmill with some infected after Ellie meets David. I’m fine with them skipping that part tbh. I’ve been absolutely loving your reactions to this story! Can’t wait for the finale though I’m sad that it’s coming to an end. No idea when we’ll get the second season. Yeah playing part 2 was the most intense 3 days of gaming of my life. I was so invested I played the final fight perfectly and I was playing on hard. I couldn’t stand the idea of seeing Ellie lose after all the trauma. So that kicked me into some other mode where I legit felt like it was life or death lol. Some people have called part 2 a misery simulator but as someone who has complex ptsd, I appreciated how they worked the realities of ptsd in, as well as music. It was wonderful as a guitar player being able to learn the songs and share tabs I’ve worked out or play them for others in the community. I’m no professional or anything but part 2 really bridged my love for story telling and music into one powerful experience. Gaming changed when the first game came out and these story driven experiences became more mainstream and expected in a time when Xbox 360 multiplayer was dominating. Of course there were other story driven franchises before the original game but tlou felt like a film experience for the time and had amazing acting and graphics for the time period. It took what games like metal gear solid or max Payne were trying to achieve and just had the right equipment to pull it off, with a solid script and cast.

I was so stressed and tense during this episode, had to pause a good few times to breathe. But when Joel said baby girl💔🖐🏼, all my stress came out and i lost it. Started bawling. This was my favourite episode because the growth Joel and Ellie’s relationship with the fight to be with each other and the “baby girl” was my favourite part of the game. I just love these two!
