@AlphaMatte there are times when I see builds like these that I forget that this is SE. They are so cleanly built and greebled that it doesn't even look like SE anymore and something closer to a premade ship model like Star Citizen.
Modern SE blockset, combined with the mods the server runs (Epsteins/rcs being the most important) make a world of difference. My build skills have jumped 1000% in quality since joining, despite it only being maybe 1/4 of my 1000s of hours of total playtime.
hey, how many hours do I need to play each week to actually enjoy this server? how many do most players put in per week? and how easy is it from someone who doesn't know much about space engineers and has only played a bit of space engineers? is there a lot of grind to get off-planet or can you start building ships pretty quickly?
You start in space, in the asteroid belts. Planets are controlled by the nations (OPA, MCRN, UNN) and are hostile to each other - aggressive npcs and players! The server has steep learning curve, even compared to vanilla SE, but is incredibly fun and rewarding. Its also the biggest and most consistently active SE server + community I've seen, and has had no wipes in years with none intended so even if you only play a bit, you dont lose anything. Some people have gone on military deployment and come back to keep playing after! We just stared using an ore detection mod that lets you "actively scan" asteroids within visual range (20km) and so finding ores to get started is easier than ever, too!
You don’t start on planet and there is not really much planet gameplay. You start in space and will spend most of your time there. As for having not much experience with SE it will likely be pretty difficult for you. For hours required you can put in as many as you want or don’t want to as you can hangar your craft when you’re offline to avoid getting attacked when you’re not on.
^ indeed with hangaring, we are 100% open pvp, but you can "hangar" your grids whenever you want which removes them from existence until you run the unhangar command, its very good for server performance too :D
I’m not gonna lie to you - we are the most complex and deepest progression server in the community. There is a steep learning curve BUT the opportunity for literally years of content with an active dev team and event team is here. If you become invested you can literally get thousands of hours out of this server. Your best bet is to join the discord in the description and go from there.
