We finally add more power to our 2022 Honda Civic Si. The Civic went back on our dyno to develop a Powermetric Stage 1 tune utilizing a Hondata (Race) FlashPro. The Powermetric tune on 91 octane provides more power for those who want more than the Hondata preset calibration and definitely more smiles per gallon from their 11th gen Civic Si (upgraded clutch is definitely recommended). We also install and compare the PRL Motorsports Intercooler and PRL Stage 1 Intake. What dyno numbers do you think we can reach on the CivicXi?

I have been using a gas additive called TK7 for more than 20 yrs. It enables a more complete burn of the fuel available. My 08 SI tuned to 220BHP, at 70-80 cruise gets 32mpg. At the drags, on street tires, goes 14.5@100mph. Has 140,000 miles and still going strong.

I just got my 2022 Si last December. I've been itching to modify it but there aren't many directions we can go with this car as of now. I have the Race Hondata Flashpro, but that's it. I'm looking to do everything with this car's engine and suspension, so please keep up the content!!

I love how level and smooth the stock powerband looks, would be cool to see someone tune the car so that it doesn't have the typical big burst of torque in the beginning and it was more tailored like the stock graph where it's smooth and builds as you raise rpms.

Crossover point is a relative number and means nothing. Does not affect power numbers generated by an engine.

@@Doncan0823 Nope. It isn't relative. It's a mathematical requirement that they cross over at 5250. Andrew, above, has the right answer. The two figures are scaled differently, for some reason.

Heat soak is definitely real. I'm running the CARB 250lbft tune and a PRL filter. Kind of a bummer they didn't provide a bigger intercooler from the factory.

It’s a 28k car. It’s an economy car and not a real sports or performance car. It just has sports seats and suspension and is lightweight because of cheaper materials. It does have the ability to mod too. Just don’t expect big gains from a 1.5. It’s still an economy on a budget. Many women in Teslas will kill this thing with ease. Honda doesn’t want to put too much into ICE cars as electric is their future.

Cali 91 octane in my 11th gen runs about k.cont 0.79 when I’m smashing to the lowest I’ve gotten was 0.53. Used an octane booster today hopefully I see better results

How far can you take this car before needing to replace the stock clutch? Are there upgrades you can do to make it a little faster before having to replace the clutch?

Was watching a video with co founder of hondata and with one of there stock tunes he said tweaking it for more boost could push the clutch to start slipping so he recommended to keep it with there settings unless you upgraded clutch. So it’s pretty weak from the sounds of it

Damn, nice gain on hp and torque to test on PRL intercooler and air filter stage 1 but you should get PRL volume air intake, down pipe, and front pipe on Si to see what gain on hp,and torque. Look forward to your next video! 😁👍

Yes you can add those mods to your car but would probably have to be a custom kit or find a company that makes a kit for your car.

Essentially no HP gain from the tune? Seems the factory calibration and intercooler upgrade made a big difference or did you adjust the tune when you installed the intercooler and I missed it? Is the turbo different in the 11th gen compared to the 10th gen SI?

Ahh bro wat sup I got a question and asking for advice on my 2017 1.5 turbo si I mistakenly pump e85 into the car and later my car was hesitating not enough power check engine flashing then I have to turn it off and restart it and run until check engine flash again over it’s was headed ohh after it happened drain all e85 out and pump 92 premium run until check engine flash then off and on repeat process over without the tune for it so you have any idea will great full lol

Does upgrading to such intercooler cause a low rpm range lag and throttle response ? Especially in traffic congestions / city driving And for highway driving , does that mean boost builds up later and kicks in later ?

Upgrading the intercooler helps everywhere. It helps throttle response and spool.

No it doesnt create lag or when its building boost. It helps with both situations with our tune for the 11th gen.

Love the stuff you guys do, I have a question. I have a 2020 Honda Civic 2 L natural aspirated six speed manual transmission. What do you guys think about me throwing a turbo on it and a intercooler and all that fun stuff and a clutch and get it pro tuned. Do you guys think it has potential or can somebody answer my question. I know I could just go get a civic SI but I want something really different and I don’t mind spending money into it…. I’m just literally just curious to see what a potential of the natural aspirate of 2 L engine is

Okay thanks. You think you guys will be able get over phearable and tsp claims. I have both tunes. Tsp says 245whp 291wtrq with stock on 93. I'm full bolt on with the 93 octane race maf tune so I know it's higher. You think you guys can push it to those numbers If not little better. You guys seemed little more motivated and your 10th gen tunes made nice power. I'm in jersey but I'm going to put the flex kit in and hoping you guys do stage 2 and so on. Looking forward to it

A tad more than stock. Will need to upgrade if you plan to mod it and drive hard.

The clutch is the weak point of this car, we recommend upgrading the clutch if you want power mods.

Race sounds much smoother and cleaner than the "Carb" tune. Seems like the stock turbo hates higher RPM above 5,000.

Yes you can. 93 octane is actually a better fuel. 91 octane is the minimum.

If I build this the way I want I’ll prolly just do Prl intercooler + dp with hondata stage 1 literally threw on my k&n intake today for the 22si I know it’s not an ideal brand but it was nice quality and it utilized the factory fresh air duct right into the filter, want to be 250whp sad the clutch is weak as well

Clutch is easy to change and a Type R retro fit will hold all the power 99.9999% of 1.5L guys can throw at it - my R made 547/436 on stock clutch and stock exhaust

Yes we have found the weak point and it is the clutch. We recommend upgrading the clutch if you want to mod and tune the 22 civic si.

100% you'll need a clutch. My 11th Gen is basically FBO + Exedy Fk8 Clutch/Rv6 Fk8 Retro Flywheel. First Dyno Made 263whp, 262tq on TSP Map 2 (91 Octane). So you'll definitely get your 250whp from that setup. Car makes 278whp, 289tq now running Phearable Stage 1.5R Map 3 (93 Octane) Highly recommend the downpipe and intercooler. However, going with the Cobra Intake or HVI intake is also gonna make a noticeable difference.

93 has a higher resistance to detonation or “knocking”. The higher octane, the more boost/timing/compression you can run before it starts knocking.

I’m getting My Sgp Si at the end of august. Do you think this would be a car I could get to 400hp at some point for a reasonable price or should I just do fbo a tune and keep it as a reliable daily. The 400hp goal would be after 5 years of ownership. Awesome content so far bro loving the videos and reviews! Everything you d done to the car so far is what I wanna do si I’m glad I can see what I will be getting for my money, can’t wait to be in mine! Also I would love videos on more of the technical side to all the tuning and testing it’s really interesting and something I’ve always wanted to learn about.

@@Bbc418 yeah it looks like it would be more worth to spend extra 10k later and get a type r of the same year and drop more money into that. I don’t have the money for a Brand spanking New type r but probably once I pay of the si I’ll trade that + the difference for a 10th gen type r and mod it type r is my dream car anyways the Si is just a stepping stone

Yes. Full stock baseline on our Mustang Dyno was 180HP.

Is it safe to have that much torque before 3000rpm? Seems like the rods might go bye bye after a few pulls

Yea pretty much, torque kills the Internals on the 1.5, don't do digs, if your going to punch it like if you just feel like doing a pull or race someone yea be above 3000rpm.

On a 1.5 engine, no. Need to build engine and install racing clutch while engine is out.

I had a fbo 10th gen si,(cai intake, catless dp, exhaust ,clutch, intercooler) with phearable 1.5 god mode and shredded my 4th gear. Theses car are fun but not built to be modified like the type r .

Hondata uses a hub dyno which reads higher, this is a mustang dyno which read slower. Usually dynojet dynos read actual whp after correction. A dyno is just a tool to measure gains at the end of the day.

We have a lavalier mic, a boom shotgun mic, an audio recorder but the on camera mic is easier to start recording. But thanks for your feedback we will make sure the audio is on point in the next videos.

Thank you for revealing the true power from the factory: 180 hp / 210 tq. The Si 1.5 liter engine is not underated. Too many honda fanboys saying the Si has more than 200 hp in stock form.

Hope you realize that different dynos read differently. And different days, temperatures, humidity levels, etc. all will affect the readings. That said, these numbers do sound more realistic. 200 crank hp feels accurate. 220-230 like others claims does not feel accurate. My old 240 hp accord felt much quicker.

@@tooley0114 Front drives only have 10 percent loss. So it’s 200 hp at engine on the money like Honda claims. No more than that and is not underrated at all.

Man I’m on the 2.0/2.3 ecoboost platform. But I want a Honda to! Hondas have always been awesome. But now I won’t be getting a newer cars, this whole limits on the programs about custom tunes is BS!! It’s scratch to be Some tuned cars on e85 are way better on emissions then a new car!! But we can’t modify anything! So what’s the point of ordering aftermarket parts of you can custom tune the car?? It’s completely BS and we all need to stop paying our taxes! This is getting ridiculous america is like a communist country now.

And like I said I got carb legal parts , and my check engine light still came on, and before my tuner was able to turn it off but because of some stupid new law there’s nothing my tuner can do about it now. It’s bs you can get carb legal tunes but not a custom tune.
