My husband and I made a road trip through northern Arizona @ 2007 and visited the Petrified Forest. Newspaper rock was like a gold mine to us, who are avid admirers of 'rock art' of ancient peoples. The petrified trees strewn about like gigantic kindling is awesome. We were very impressed with the visitor's bureau, which displayed examples of the dinosaurs and huge pieces of tree trunk that was not just turned to rock but to gemstones of amazing beauty. I've always wanted to return and hopefully will soon.
This is not just a great video. This is the film they play in the visitor center in the park. I am so thrilled to see it online I am sort of verklempt!!! I love this park and the people who study and live in and take care of it.

Hello from Maine. I went on family vacations as a child and this was a place we went. See the Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico too, if you're able to bring your family for a visit. An above ground and a below ground "Wonder", both so close by and all.
