Petrified Forest National Park encompasses more than 220,000 acres about fifty miles west of the New Mexico border. Much of the park is comprised of badlands, mesas and tall rock formations - where ancient history is on display everywhere you look. Jack and Colton are exploring this area’s rich history and the highest concentration of petrified wood in the world!

History is the word for this park. I am usually more of a fan of the backcountry and the natural history out there, but the Painted Desert Inn caught our attention for some time. It has such a great aesthetic from the Route 66 era. Maybe travel wasn't as fast or convenient as today's interstates, chain hotels, and strip malls, but that time in America certainly had character.
