First thing you pick up, just a drill! Very cool! That wet cold rain/snow sure makes those points show up nice on the gravel bar. That is such a killer point, Dan! Thanks for taking us along!.....Ben
That was amazing- right off the bat was the drill. I did not expect to find anything that day because of the snow, then the wet made the pieces stick out like sore thumbs! Pretty sweet! It's storming now so I'm hoping the water will rise again to churn up some more gravel... oh man, oh man... I can't wait!!!
What an awesome find dan, to those out there new to this channel your in for a treat. We miss Dan here in the PNW, had some GREAT VIDS HERE, make sure you check them out, hoping he can return to OUR or HIS roots, ya I’m kind of pissed he left 😆😆 but will always be a follower Thanks for taking us along
Aw shucks... you're embarrassing me. Hey, we're back in the PNW. Even back in Oregon now...just in town instead of the woods.. Kinda stinks but whatever.
That's right. Ya gotta put in the time. I showed a friend my points. He told me I'm lucky. I told him luck is part of it but if you want to find anything, most of all you have to put in the time.
Wow, what a beautiful point! Looks like a Wahmuza (Shoshone) or perhaps a Cascade? Also, I thought I was the only kook crawling around rock bars on my hands and knees!
Wow! Straight up! Nice spotting! In the thick of nature too! I love seein people get out and soak it up. Love it mate! Also... I really like how you we’re talking about your video/channel. It’s sometimes easier to make videos due to circumstances and then sometimes harder. I don’t know that people understand it, but I hear ya dude, and think it’s a great thing you explained how you don’t plan on making a video about this or that, but more about... WOAH! 6:20!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry... but more about if you’re gonna be doing something, why not film it. I’m a “new” subscriber, came here when you had stopped making consistent vids and as a video sharing person I love seeing that you’ve come back to it. And can’t wait to watch how it continues. Your videos are unique and your personality shows in them. Thanks for sharing and taking the time to create them mate. All the best!
Wow thats a nice point. A while back i found a dual hafted ground stone axe head. And now i water proof houses and work in the trenchs so im hoping to find more cool onondaga artifacts in the dirt piles. Its like work and play all in one lol
I'm glad you're back, even if it is sporadically when you've got a moment. I wonder what you're up to whenever I'm working in my basement, and I notice the couple of obsidian chunks you sold me when you moved. I've turned most of it into stuff, but I still have some left for a rainy day :)
I could hunt for hours and hours for little treasures like you do. My sister hated me because I got my niece interested in pretty rocks when she was younger and ended up having her rock collection filling up her bedroom. I'm planning on on taking my granddaughter rock hunting when she gets a little older. Hehehe
Do a vlog, of whatever, do you still get to knap, bible study, eat lion, make hardtack, a hilarious need to go to the bathroom while driving video, a journey to somewhere like the beach or a cave, mudding yourself up with ferns in hair? Getting excited what is this three videos in the past week! LORD bless brother
Hard to say, they reused points back in the day and the points got smaller as they were repaired. It might have started as a atlatl dart point for deer and made its way down to a small game point as it was reknapped. Ive seen bird points that where much smaller and where probably shafted with wild rose or some other light wood.
DC Waldorf's The Art of Flintknapping is a good one. One of the best series on beginning flintknapping is on paleomanjim's youtube page here: ru-vid.com/group/PLNsY4bgHOkxV4dH3cWIrN8YePRiYHzZuD. It's a great informative series you will learn a TON of stuff. He doesn't post much anymore but it is still there.
