If for some strange reason you are interested in my present life, follow "gotrocksinhead" and/or "gotwoodinhead" on facebook or Instagram. Not to be rude but its pretty stupid to cut a stone in half just to have 2 flat sides wich u can than cut a groove into than tie together what u can simply do is just find 2 flat stones cut a groove into each flat side of each stone and than tie them together of course use similar sized rocks to match each other and you have saved so much time whatever time it takes to find 2 similar flat shaped rocks it will take much more cutting one in half regardless this is a great tool to have
They might have been used for knocking down dead branches or hammering away the charcoal from fired wood but they probably weren't axes. Large stone flakes or flaked cobbles are so much more efficient. They probably made them because they lasted a long time but I don't think they were for chopping down trees.
I just saw a guy saying how all you did in this videos is impossible because this is exactly how historians believe egyptians made their hard stone carvings (because we found their tools and they painted themselves doing that). Since the guy said what you just did is impossible, i must believe you can't do it and these axes were all made by a global civilization 12000 years ago.
Hey there Mr rocksinhead, I was wondering how I can get basalt. No rock seller has it and all the states that sell it won't ship it out if state and I live in indiana in an area where there is none. I saw a video of a guy working with some you sent him.
It’s amazing, thanks for showing us this procedure…. I wonder how long did it take to make it and I would like to know how it looks like with a wood handle
Good ole Dan! Whenever I feel lonely, I always come back your channel. Must have watched the Get Home Bag Adventure a thousand times already. Gives me that nostalgic, old-school youtube feeling of better times. Hope you and your family are doing well!
Yup. Them were good times! Very different than now but a lot of good memories were made. When the kids come home we often watch the old videos. They're like old home movies for us. Good times! Thanks
Hey Dan, glad to see you're doing well! Not sure if you remember me. Me and my brother met you years ago at an Illahee Flats knap in. Was just wondering what you were up to these days and it looks like you're in the woods having fun. Good place to be. God bless you and your family!
Of course I remember you and Brian. It was really good meeting you two. We had some good talks and if I remember right we hiked up to a cave. You guys are a couple of the people from the past I wonder about now and then. Hope things are well. Really good to hear from you! Thank you
We are doing really well! Me and my husband are on pebble pup #4, my brother and his wife are on #2. We've been knocking out goals towards self sufficiency on our little farm and raising these kids up right. I feel bad that I never got up to see Brad and I've been wondering how they are doing as well.
Are you sure those were cat tails? Might be poisonous. I’m not experienced in identifying them but pretty sure the brown sausage looking part should be longer and not stubby.
I'm very interested to see you finish this axe and the handle. I was actually disappointed that there was not another follow up video. this is the way I always wanted to see it done. Now I have confidence in using this method. Thank you for sharing.
Great video man. I was wondering is basalt better then limestone at holding a fine edge because I made a stone axe out of limestone and it seems to dull faster then my basalt stone chisel🪨🪵
