A new video in celebration of all the new viruses and their extensions which are sure to be taking up residence in our world in the not too distant future.
During the 1960s, the early years of my experimental work in the electronic arts, integrating science and the arts was all the rage. I found two wrinkles especially inspiring, visualizing mathematics and visualizing music. The logic of a deeper level of integration was obvious to me because music is essentially mathematics streaming in real time. During the 60s and 70s my work was based in the San Francisco Bay Area, at that time the global center for the electronic arts. Visualizations of one sort or another captured my attention and saw me working with artists and researchers from the top to the bottom of the SF Bay Area including creative free-lancers and adventurous academics at some of the top institutions in the world including Stanford, UC Berkeley, and UC Santa Cruz.
The object of this piece is to visualize a stream of images that can be used to create a marriage of new viruses and bacteria. I imagine that this is already being done in bio-warfare labs around the world. The more we learn about the process the better we can project ourselves and improve our condition by manipulating the products of the bad boys to function as our medicines.
