The original singer of this song is Gary Valenciano (worked with SB19 before, a very vocal supporter of the boys too). Dave Lamar is Mori's husband. Mori, like Pablo, is a person of faith which is why this song feels like a heartfelt prayer instead of just a greatly performed piece. Gary V is known in the Philippines as Mr. Pure Energy and also as a deeply religious man. His faith shows in all his works and how he lives his life is a testament and inspiration to fans for many years. I've commented many times that the Philippines is blessed with artists who are not just in for the fame but also to help, inspire and share their gifts with others. Older, more established artists like Lea, Regine Velasquez, Gary V and others always help newer artists like Mori and SB19 through collaborations. OG's learn new tricks and newbies get to learn from their seniors. Best way to improve overall. Thanks as always for appreciating Filipino music.
Gary V rearranged it for her and told her that she could sing it the way she wants, people already knows how far her vocal capabilities can go and so she can sing it differently and this is the result just so emotionally captivating and moving. I knew you would love it Hurraira! Thanks for reacting to it ❤ I am sure you will find your purpose in life and remember you have us along the way listening to you daily. My son heard you again and said he cant get over how lovely you speak! Hugs❤
Freddie Santos wrote this....on a bar napkin in 1988 , while questioning his inner demons....and in 17 min finished it , but needed music...and asked Gary V....Gary tried to dismiss him.... saying he was to busy , a key on piano broken... but Gary's wife said have a look at the lyrics. He did and said lets go upstairs and, from 5pm to 5am...worked on it..and this is the product, that was used in a Gospel play " First Name " A revival was planned called, " First Name Anew " and Gary who had recorded this in the 90's wanted a female voice and rearranged it for her....Freddie passed in Dec. 2020 before he could hear this. Dave Lamar is Mori's husband and the co-writer of all the song on her Signature EP. Love You Still - digital message to estranged Father, who disapproved of Dave) , Will You Stay -( feelings in a new relationship ) , Mirror , ( Depression , low self esteem ) Trophy - ( used to inflate another's ego ) and Phoenix - ( , to rise above the negatives surrounding you )
She's incredible !!!She speaks to my soul everytime she sings. Thank you so much for your love and support to my favorite artists, Morissette and SB19😘😘😘
2 performances of Mori's that I wish more people would react to, which testify of her gift of story telling, are I Miss You Like Crazy and I'll Never Love again at the Thunderbird
In the beginning credits, Gary Valenciano, Mr Pure Energy is another OPM great! His song Take me Out of the Dark is one of the most emotional performance I have ever seen. And Mori is just so beautiful, her vocals are amazing but her performance always strong and top tier. The message of the song hits❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This is most powerful emotional performance 🇨🇦I have yet seen, not to mention this is one take, raw voice powerful to say the least 🎉amazing Morissette….thank you for your honest reaction, please more Morissette
This was released during the height of the Covid 19 pandemic. Many, including myself, were feeling lost and trying to stave of despair. This performance gave me hope and helped me get through my struggles. That's the power of Morissette.
Thanks for your RV ❤..this song cover is one of my favorites from Morissette. Dave Lamar is her husband. Original version of this song was performed by Mr. Gary Valenciano in 1991, it is also a great soulful rendition. It was my understanding this version of Mori was made as a tribute to the lyricist of the song, Freddie Santos, who passed away.
I am so glad that you heeded my request to check this out😊 This is a perfect example how Morisette can embody the lyrics of a song without the need for vocal acrobat. Thank you for sharing a personal struggle, that's admirable. You made mention of Lea as well..do not miss her take of Via Dolorosa where she performed it with the US Military academy Choir...along with it do not miss out her(Lea's) duet with Regine where they performed a Broadway musical medly done remotely, absolutely beautiful.

#morissette did a few songs in this setting with Dave (husband) filming and producing like in this performance. "Drivers Licence" was the other that comes to mind. Pure acapella if I remember correctly.
I listen to this beautiful song at least once a month, now as you said this is from a Philippinen Christian Musical writen by Freddie Santos who sadly passed away in December 2020, he had the lyrics but not the music so he asked his good friend Gary Valenciano if he could do an arrangement and 24 hours later it was done, Gary Valenciano sang this song back in 1990, and after the passing of Freddie Santos he rearranged it for Morissette and what a beautiful song she made me cry, now Dave Lamar Directed this, he is Mori's husband, and what a beautiful job he did, a big thank you to the three production companys involved, the lighting and black and white setting was just superb, thanks for your reaction keep it up. 😊
Thank you for this RV and for being candid in sharing your thoughts. Learning so much with and from you through these, particularly in terms of becoming more generous with positivity.
As people have thrown Gary Valenciano's name in the ring, his As 1 Medley with Martin Nievera may touch your heart. His channel truly was a God send for many during the pandemic and his songs really do sweep you up to the heavens...
Morrisett is a very strong Christian both her and her husband Dave Lamar. You mentioned your background in Musical Theater chk out Morrisett on Stage Sessions she sings a handful of Musical Theater songs. Enjoy your reactions of Morrisett Aloha from Hawaii.
I was so connected to this performance I cried. Mori did an incredible job. If you like strong female vocalists you need to check out two artists. The first is Sohyang from South Korea. Vocal coaches everywhere rate her as probably the best technical vocalist of our generation. She only sings for God and the comfort of others and has refused to sign to Sony for 15 years. Try "Bridge over Troubled Waters" to start. The other is Gigi de Lana from the Philippines. She is know as the "Queen of Covers" and has a voice like honey and hot chocolate. Start with "Piano in the Dark". Have fun you are going on an incredible journey.
Need to react to Morissette singing 1) Defying Gravity (Stage Sessions). 2) She used to be mine (Stage Sessions). 3) Home (Stage Sessions). 4) Stone Cold (live myx). 5) Fly like a bird (Morissette RU-vid channel), It will blow you away
Stop your nonsense about missing religion, spirituality or god. What you need, and I argue all of us needs, is the connection to another human being. That's real and testable. Everybody just wants to be loved, don't you know?
MORISSETTE is an ardent Christian Lady who is a member of the FAVOR CHURCH Christian community, she does FAVOR CHURCH performances around Christmas and Easter time, in fact the greatest rendition of O HOLY NIGHT she performed on Christmas Eve 2020 for FAVOR CHURCH is the greatest rendition of that classic EVER 🇬🇧🔥👌❤️.
