Hometown who drafted him and had Bird rights after many years of losing players for money. We were competing, could pay the most, give the most years, he was the star of the league, and it was his hometown. We were more than allowed to want him to stay.
He gave them 7 years and the Cavs management didn't put a team around him. Can't blame him for leaving. He shouldn't have embarrassed the Cleveland fans on national TV though.
I love how Cleveland fans act like he owes it to them to stay no matter what. Cleveland sucks, as a city, as a sports town. It plain sucks. Period. Yet the greatest player in the world wanted to be there, and managememt couldn't put talent around him.
I've been to Chicago. Except for the pizza, which was great btw, your city is an over priced shit hole.I can't say enough bad things about my visit to Chicago!! And its funny you have a pic of MJ. He had crap around him for years but stuck it out.
So uhh, say that you're stuck with a bunch of the non athletic kids in high school. Coach gives you an opportunity to go to the team you want to be in where you can actually win the tournament. You wouldn't do it?
It's not about him leaving, it's about him knowning for weeks that he's going to leave and his decision to announce his new destination on television. That's just terrible. ESPN and LeBron had an agreement on telivising his decision long before the rumors started.
The guy at 0:35 says Lebron "deserves everything he gets" He got MVP,RING,FINALS MVP, and a GOLD MEDAL........that guy was right....nice call buddy lol
Cavs management are horrible but the reason why they didn't go for bynum is because he only has one year and said himself that he won't stay on a rebuilding team.
Well, we'll see how they do over the next few years, if they have another bad season or two, they'll keep building through the draft. It's not ideal but good drafting usually does pay off eventually.
Yeah that's true I forgot about that lol. But yeah the management is horrible and still is theyre not doing anything in the free agency to try to get a good player who Kyrie can play along with.
If they kept LeBron they don't get that no. 1 pick to take Irving though. The Cavs' management had plenty of chances through trades or free agency to get help for LeBron but never did.
It's pretty dumb that the city was "embarassed" how? his contract was up, he carried the cavs for a while and the organization never gave him any help. The cavs suck without him. Blame the organization for failing to help out james, he can't do it alone.. Cavs sucked really bad, shows you how much James carried them after he left, next season cavs dropped 20 games
@newnagasaki I agree with you (I'm from Cleveland), but if he admired Michael Jordan, Lebron wouldn't have left us. It took Jordan a while to win the championship from the Bulls, but he never quit the team.
okay the man could have been like every damn athlete in the history of sports and not had to publicly embarrass a city minutes from his hometown.. he didnt have to puss out and go with 2 superstars, these guys have been cooking this up for 2 years but he still told Cleveland he wasnt go anywhere, and then he just kept hyping it up and playing with cleveland fans.. this city hasnt won a championship since the browns in '64
Uhm Cleveland, I hate to say it but you got your beloved Browns back. Seriously, open the door for Art Modell. Plus no one made an honest effort into keeping him in your city. It sucks to know that one whole metropolis depended on the revenue due to one man and nothing else. Goes to show how far LBJ's legacy can become.
@lmc105 I'm a LA native, Lakers fan but he wanted Shaq...They did what he said, and he still couldn't win a championship...LOL I can't wait until the NBA season start. NBA will repeat!!!
Being a Lakers fan, I see Spurs as a big rival team, but I hope you do not let LeBron James win his ring this year, I'd rather root for you guys (hell even OKC) than LeBron James.
okay the man could have been like every damn athlete in the history of sports and not had to publicly embarrass a city minutes from his hometown.. he didnt have to puss out and go with 2 superstars, these guys have been cooking this up for 2 years but he still told Cleveland he wasnt go anywhere, and then he just kept hyping it up and playing with cleveland fans.. this city hasnt won a championship since the browns in '64.. but now akron hates him, cleveland hates him, ohio hates him
in 3 years he got pippen and grant. lbj best player was mo williams. he always took them to the confernece fianls and even to the finals but lost in seven years.
I'm a LeBron fan and I support him, i'm not from Cleveland nor have I ever been there, the way he left was wrong and boasting that he would win at least 8 rings with the Heat, he was probably just kidding and joking when making that statement, but still, I like LeBron just because I hate Kobe and the Lakers
@rxb0nrw "I can honestly say I would have remained a Wade fan had he moved on, maybe Clevelanders should do the same." I'm one of those people. I'm from Cleveland, and despite Lebron's departure, I honestly still have hope that he will return one day (he even admitted in his reveiw from GQ that he might play for Cleveland eventually). Also, I still have his jersey and his shirt (I'm wearing the shirt right now). I'm not one of the idiots that would burn his stuff. That's just wrong.
"Supported him for 7 years." More like he supported the sorry city and cleveland sports for 7 years. It's also more selfish for the population to believe he has to have infinite loyalty to them and never make a change on his career. Good One cleveland...
@initiatorhater0688 i used to hate kobe but i respect that man. he is one of the most strong minded players in the nba. it doesnt matter if its the preseason, regular season, playoffs, finals his hunger to win is always there. ive never seen him quit like lebron in the playoffs against the celtics
Im pretty sue it was clear he was leaving lol. Why would he go on national TV too say he is staying on cleveland. If it was such a bad thing, why did all of cleveland watch it?
Okay... Im not the biggest Lebron fan but cmon... this guy tried his best for 7 years and tried and tried... He got them to the championship but it wasnt enough he was sick of trying for 7 years and now it is selfish for the Cleaveland fans to react like that... Srsly
That all depends on if Dan Gilbert learned anything from LeBron leaving. For years he had the arguably the single best talent in the game but it takes more than just one player to win the whole thing even in a superstar league like the NBA. And the best the Cavs could do to help him? A washed up Shaq. Irving could be that guy Cleveland fans are looking for to finally get one of their teams to the top but he, like anybody else. We'll see if Gilbert is willing to go that extra mile to get it.
