The lighter the skin of a sister or brother, the better looking the were considered by most. With mom being from New Orleans, I had a number of Creoles in my family. The color thing has only annoyed me when it's spoken, otherwise, I've always kept it moving. Because I had 2 families that loved me, and tons of friends from many cultures, being darkskinned never bothered me.

There was beef building up between Prince and the Time in the 2 years before Purple Rain, and during the Purple Rain shoot. All that negative energy was captured in the movie, while it was happening. Morris and Prince had a big falling out right after Purple Rain.

Never ever heard that, and I'm a Purple Rain/Prince freak. Rick James wasn't as important on Prince life or Pop culture back then, as Rick made everyone believe.

The movie was loosely based on Prince life and growing up in MN where the black bands had to compete because there wasn't a lot of places they could play (this was said by Jimmy and Terry, Spike Moss, also in the Condensate DVD to name a few sources) beef with Rick James has nothing to do with Purple Rain.
