This is Mo, my 1957 Morris Minor 1000. She has the 948cc engine which runs as sweet as a nut. Working trafficators that look fantastic, she is generally a very nice solid Morris minor.
I do believe they are 7 inch drums all round, later it was 8 inch on the front still 7 on the rear.... beautiful car, still with split screen wipers before they changed.... love it thanks for sharing....
Lovely. My wife and I bought a '57 when we lived in Melbourne (it's an Australian built car), and loved it so much we bought it home with us to the 'States. Runs like a Swiss watch. Without a doubt, and unlike most British cars I have owned, it's the most reliable collector car I have ever owned. It might just be the most reliable car I have ever owned - period!
You are one lucky guy to have a Morris Minor..They are a hard thing to find here in the U.S if you do find one it's chopped and edited all around. I also love the leather but would never dream of allowing the dogs in but that is me.
Hi, thanks for your comment. I have since rebuilt the carburettor and it runs sweet now. What modifications have I done? As far as I'm aware it is completely original. ?? Those tyres are really easy to get over here.
Very nice minor you have there, they are alot of fun. I have a 52 2 door minor myself fitted with the 1100 motor and gearbox.I am a member of the vintage car club here in new Zealand and when I go on car runs I can clip along happily at 55-60 mph......
Your Mo, OMO 384, seems to be the twin sister of my Milly, born 1957 as YSY 386, in exact the same fitting. She's of the road since 2012, but restoration will be finished soon. Nice to see how she could look like. We could compare chassis numbers, if you wanted.
The Trafficators were an innovation by Lucas Of England which was fitted on most British cars from 1948 on wards till these were replaced by blinkers which was an American concept sand much cheaper to install. I had them in my Morris Oxford Seried @ in Calcutta where it was known as the Landmaster. For some idiotic reason I replaced the Trafficators with blinkers but retained the Trafficators. I wil re-install them again. Subrata Datta
no she's in my brothers garage nearly restored but its getting time and money to finish ,i hope to soon. i had a 1972/73 mm van one of the last registered in ireland.we had all except the convertable in the minor range,my dad used to have a 1959 b4 he bought the 1000 in 1970 brand new
One of the first ones that come up if you google them. www.classiccarleds.co.uk/products/12v-self-flashing-36mm-semaphore-trafficator-amber-led-slimline-256
Just a question but why are there no rear vision mirrors on this car? I am looking at buying one and I'm not sure if I need to add them on or if I need them at all?
Heavy at first, if you're used to modern cars, but you very quickly get used to it. Another thing is that the clutch pedal hinges from underneath the floor, rather than from above, so the pedal moves a bit differently when you push it.
Hi there , we have a 1967 trafalgar blue 1098cc moggy , well when I say we it’s my girlfriends car she inherited from her late dad , although I do drive and have driven her it’s Wendy’s daily driver , she uses her for work Monday to Friday and shopping at weekends, she’s a lovely car but can be a bit temperamental starting in the morning from cold , Wendy use’s the choke but when she doesn’t start 1st try she fiddles with it until she does start , any suggestions ?
Are there different types of this 1957 car ? I'm trying to remember my dads car so I can get one I don't think his had the indicator like yours is there a model like yours without that?
amanda67 the early two, doors had the trafficators near the bottom of the doors, later cars after 1957 had the normal flashing indicators as we no today.
nice to see original condition car richard . I'm from Sri Lanka i have 1958 Morris minor car exactly same like yours but i can see some different parts . im also hope to rebuild it original condition .but my dad did some modification actually i don't like it .i can see u have made some modification. please make it 100% original . and do some tune up . you know when i start my car still water coming out from exhaust .how did you get those tires ? those tires very rare to find here .
It can run on unleaded but the cyl head has to be modified by having harder valve seats fitted since unleaded doesn't lubricate them like leaded petrol does. If youre cyl head hasn't been modified to run on unleaded then you simply put lead additive in it.
Sometimes that happens, reroute fuel line to the pump and fit a heatshield between the carb and exhaust manifold..... stops fuel getting too hot and works a treat....
Nice Car !! I own a '58 Saloon . Sounds like you have a loose tappet or two :P Easy fix though. May i ask what the button is that's above the start pull.
+Richard Bowker Thats Cool, may i ask what the colour of the car is officially called as i have a '60 morris and i am currently deciding what colour to paint it. I quite like the sheen the black produces :)
Sean harding hi yes I do, Since this video I have put a 1098cc engine and gearbox in as the old ones big ends went. Also had the chassis rails on the front cut out and replaced where needed. Apart from that she is the same.
The morris minor and concorde and the vulcan bomber and the mini are all great and british and the e type jaguar concorde is anglo french but wot pawers it a rolls royce olympus engines and it was made in bristall
Hi Chris Your old Morris still exists! I don't know where but it is a 1960 1098 cc and on the road...along with 8,500 Morris minors including my 1959 black 4 door. All the best.
Great as I live in the misty highlands with lots of wombats and kangaroos and need to stop quick and was concerned about drums, are the drums power assisted. I can buy a 1957 2 door which has good motor as it is used daily by a guy who runs the morris minor club nearby for $3000 au The paint needs a good spray job but the car is in original condition so is that a good price, I am kind of excited about the little car as I have been watching it over the last 10 yrs parked in the town near me so I finally went and asked the owner if he wanted to sell and he agreed, he has 6 more at his home but those are more expensive.
finely got used to the brakes but it was a learning experience, I was told by owner that his son bored the motor out to a 1275 and claims he has had speed to top of speedo which is 90 mph, it does seem to be keeping up with traffic and does 60 mph with very little throttle
I just got the the exact same model and color, and front and rear bumper horns, .. All fenders and bumpers are metal, i absolutely loves this little car, Do you still own Yours?
@@Richbowker 1980 actually. Just looked it up on the government website. I'm surprised. In theory people can run a car with bald tyres and no brakes. Okay so most classic cars aren't driven often, but they are sometimes.
