This list is valueing elemental resistances WAAAAAY too much and showcases either a weird lack of knowledge or experience with the game Starting with the biggest issue, unlike every other game in the series where you're basically guaranteed to meet a thing using strong magic every dungeon (specifically Oblivion and Skyrim with the way they designed Undead and Bandits)specific non/elemental magic isn't often met in any serious amount: (not including humanoid mages because they hold a variety of spells often comboing 2 different effects together so i'd have to do a massive spreadsheet lol) The only significant frost enemies you'll consistantly meet are Snow Bears, Fryse Hags and Frost Atronachs The only significant shock enemies you'll meet are Storm Atronachs, Daedroth (who also use Poison) and Ash Slaves (only included cause they can be annoying early game) and Lich The only significant fire enemies you'll meet are Fire Atronachs and Dremora/Dremora Lords and Almalexia The only significant Poison enemies you'll meet are the Hunter Hircine form and Daedroth (who have shock spells) Enemies such as Ascended Sleepers often have 3 elements in their spellbook which makes specific resistance less and less useful Compare that to Magic Resistances which significantly reduces some of the most crippling effects in the game (Damage Attribute) counter most Undead Enemy magic, and counter some form of magic most enemies hold (from Ash Creatures to NPCs) along with reducing the effects of diseases and you can see why Magicka Resistance is infinitely superior to elemental resistances Ultimately all of this doesn't matter because all magical enemies can be made into a joke by simply picking the Atronach Sign, which renders resistances very weak, and that you can use projectiles to to block ranged spells from reaching you) or make it super moot by using the Amulet of Equity/ Royal Signet Ring As for the actual ranking i'd drop down Nords to B (resistances aren't too useful compared to certain powers other Races have but are still very nice, High base attributes and move speed along with solid skill lineup makes them a really good race still) Altmer to atleast A or S (with the Atronach Sign specifically, because ridiculous Magicka pool allowing for insane mobility summons and damage even at level 1 and completely countering Altmer's main weakness with our spells, Enchantments only come later in the game and are hard-capped by item power in how strong they can get, while also stopping you from maximising your CE enchantments due to constantly changing items) Bump Dunmer to A tier, 50 Sanctuary basically makes you immune to physical damage in the early game and is always extremely useful against higher level enemies who always hit so it doesn't fall off that hard, combined with Atronach you can effectively become immune to damage And Orcs are Bumped to top of S because of Berserk which you apparently don't know how to use, basically perfect accuracy with all weapons against most enemies at enemy weapon skill level (due to 100 attack), so you can start the game stun locking enemies with Spears and Marksman easily, or other weapons if you're good with timing, i have used it to kill every boss in the game at level 1 with nothing other than some Bound Weapons the agility in this situation doesn't matter but if it bothers you so much it can be countered with Magic Resistance, add on top of that the Fortify Fatigue which allows Orcs to start with better Dice Rolls in all Situations than any other race (Better Spell casting, security, stealth, barter etc etc) along with Orcs naturally amazing stat lineup(magic resistance, only 2.5 health short of Nords and Redguards, 1.3 weight) and you got the best race in the game Basically Berserk isn't as braindead to use as Ancestor Guardian or Adrenaline Rush, but with proper use can do things WAAAAAAY beyond what the other 2 allow at early game If this is a new player guide then: S- Redguards, Dunmer (great stats with easy "i win button" racials) A- Nord, Breton (excellent stats but not as braindead) B- Imperial(solid stats, nice racials if you know how to use em), Orc (unless you teach them how to use Berserk then S) C- Bosmer (mediocre stats but solid Marksman), Argonian (mediocre stats but solid apear mage with nice speed) D- Khajiit (bad stats and bad racials) E- High Elf (extremely unforgiving to someone without knowledge, downright fucks you over with their stats and lack of racials)
In my unbiased 100% objective opinion. Argonians are S tier, cuz they are lizzards how fucking cool is that, they are super cute aswell, what game lets you play as a lizzard. Also dark elves are pretty cool aswell. (This is obviously a joke but I do love argonians)
I love Argonians the best, too. And anyone who thinks breathing underwater isn't useful early on without having to learn and train up spells, has been either avoiding the water or scum saving before swimming. Though I also enjoy Khajiit. Beast classes just look and move cooler. Sneak is super useful and nerfed by the weight of footwear, so I personally tend to avoid most shoes anyway.
My first full play through of Morrowind was with a Nord. Absolutely amazing character, and i truly see no other race as a better fit for being Nerevar reborn
Drain Attribute is resisted by Resist Magicka. An Orc (25%) with Curiass of the Savior's Hide and Ring of Phynaster is immune to the Drain Agility portion of Berserk. This makes it a straight up +100 attack for 60 seconds.
I see most people saying Redguard and Breton. They are definitely some of the best, but I'm here to say that Orcs are especially underrated. Of course, their minor bonuses are fine but not overwhelmingly great. Resist Magicka 25% is of course good, and the fact that male Orcs have the highest weight makes them the fastest characters in the game due to their weight modifier. But Berserk is crazy underrated, and I'm going to be honest - I think it's better than Adrenaline Rush, and the best power. It's just not obvious why exactly. First of all, the Fortify Attack bonus is a flat +100% chance to hit. That's insane for a level 1 character, and means you can pretty much hit anything, with any weapon you are even untrained in, when you have Berserk active. Including using spears or bows to attack from range, as quite often people overstate the agility penalty on Berserk (we'll get to that). It's worth noting this bonus is also unaffected by fatigue. Outside of Gaenor you can seriously kill most things at level 1 because of this. Abuse of this ability makes you able to kill things that are way above your power level especially with stunlocking, or outranging them. Now the non-obvious part. Fortify Fatigue 200 is also insane. At max fatigue you will have a bonus modifier of 1.25 to most things you do, by default. What Berserk does with the fortify is allow you to go over this modifier. If you have 200 max fatigue at the start of the game and then pop Berserk, now you have a 1.75 modifier. Now your chance to succeed at most things is increased I believe by 29%. Including spellcasting, lockpicking, bartering, sneak, and even other things. It gives you a higher dodge chance, an even further chance to hit, etc. It will be less as you get more fatigue, but even at 400 fatigue at max stats, it'll still be giving you around 14% higher chance to succeed at most things. The downside is of course the Drain Agility 100 penalty. This is actually a Drain 75 because it's affected by magicka resistance. One of the easiest ways you can pretty much negate this is by getting the Cuirass of the Savior's Hide, or any other magicka resistance effect. It will be negligible pretty quickly. It really is not as much of a problem as it is portrayed. In comparison, Adrenaline Rush is giving: +25 Health, Orc gets +20, pretty much irrelevant difference 50 Endurance - this will give you pretty much nothing because it does not *only* boost current fatigue like Berserk does, so it gives you a little fatigue to use, but no current fatigue modifier. 50 Speed boost - pretty much irrelevant in most cases, also Orcs are passively faster because of their weight regardless 50 Agility - 10% chance to hit, 10% chance to dodge. Not a bad bonus, but nothing overwhelming, in fact the bonus orcs get to fatigue modifier almost makes this dodge chance completely the same between the two, if the orc avoids the Drain Agility penalty. And of course the 100% attack is much better on Berserk. 50 Strength - this is +50% damage and is the big bonus you get from Adrenaline Rush. But in all honesty, this is quite unnecessary for most weapon damage, and if anything being more reliable with hit rate would be far more important for consistent damage. Conclusion: Adrenaline Rush gives you much, much less hit rate (like 90% less), slightly more dodge rate although it's equal if the Orc avoids the Drain Agility penalty, slightly more fatigue recovery, but the only real bonus you get from Adrenaline Rush is more damage, although the use of that is somewhat questionable when you compare against consistently hitting. Berserk also makes it easier for you to do most things including chance to cast spells or sneak, and even things outside of combat like lockpicking or mercantile funnily enough. Orcs are really strong and I think the best race when you abuse Berserk. It's just not quite as straightforward as it first seems as with Redguard, and people are overly scared of the Drain Agility penalty. Seriously, I dismissed Orcs in the past myself but realised how strong they are.
The magicka immunity becomes very strong the moment people start trying to paralyze you. A breton with saviors hide becomes immune, a breton with atronach sign gets infinite mana and is mostly immune. Same with orcs to lesser extent but berserk is insane if you know what to do with it. Most enemies get annoying when they hit you with damage attribute and other nasty stuff that can stop your progress completely and you have to get it removed unless you have some potions i guess(this is even worse if its damage strengh cuz you can get stuck with a super low carry capacity) all in all breton is easy S tier after you get through the relatively hard start. Elemental resistances dont really do much.
Nords do finish strong, but you are not going to have the best early game, that low agility hurts, redguard has an astronomically better early game. Adrenalin rush never really goes out of style, but the nord passives are always there for you, and can help out a lot if you fail to dodge a spell.
I would say Redgaurd are S tier because their differences are razor thin and the only advantage that Nords have over Redgaurds are their resistances. Adrenaline Rush is too good of an ability to put them any lower, plus if you want to do a min/max level build Redguards are the class to get the highest level.
Breton with Endurance and Luck seems to be working pretty well for my tank mage. I'm new to the game and don't have a lot to compare it to, but I'm killing scribs and kwamas on the road and I killed a Nix-Hound and a Dunmer slaver.

Anyone not born on Vvardenfell is an Outlander. It's perfectly reasonable to expect a Dunmer locked up in the Imperial City's dungeon to not have been born on the island of Vvardenfell.
It actually might enhance it because even though you look like much of the population, they still think you're very different, making a Dark Elf player character perhaps more isolated then other races the player could be, ironically, as no-one calls you their kin
I just clicked on this to see if there were any useless abilities to avoid, like the Khajit night vision in Oblivion, which is literally just a crappy spell you cast, identical to lower tier ones you buy later and infinitely worse than enchantments. (Horrifically misleading/disappointing to discover as a kid) And it seems you went over all of those and answered all my questions. Much appreciated.
And magic resistance is crap. Doesn't stop elemental magic or paralyze, which is common in the Bloodmoon isle. Only worthy use is for Boots of Blinding Speed mitigation as it reduces blind effects.
My main disagreement is that I'd swap argonian for wood elf. Argonians have 100% resist to poison, which is solid but niche late game agility. The males are also slightly heavier than average, that also helps nudge them up the list slightly. Lore wise they make for a descent slave uprising character.
If you don’t play Breton, you don’t know what you’re doing. Breton plus Saviors Hide is 110 resistance to magicka, which means being able to wear the Boots of Blinding Speed and receive its 200 fortify speed without the negative consequences of blindness. Also, it’s 110 resistance to magicka, which whatever. Also, both SH and BBS are easily obtainable right off the boat. They’re one of the first items I get in every play through, right after the Sword of White Woe, glass dagger, and ebony darts and bracer (if I remember right) in Suran, which is easy money from the scamp merchant to get started with spells to then mark mudcrab merchant and go from there. People meme about limeware platter, but it’s got nothing on this early money setup. Shortly after that and in between getting my other must have items it’s power training to max level without ever really fighting. At some point I also make some pants that fortify jump to 100 for 2 seconds and now I’m flying across the map at will.
In general Morrowind, once you know the game, isn't that challenging so you can roleplay any race you want and you won't make the game unplayable. I do usually play a Nord but this is because I usually go with Spear as my main melee weapon. But if you wanted to play a marksman character Bosmer (wood Elf) are perfectly fine as you aren't going to really need max hit points with that play style. Dunmer (dark Elf) are also a good choice for a general skirmisher type build with good marksman and short blade skills. Altmer (high Elf) aren't totally irredeemable either if you want to play a pure mage. Again you don't necessarily need huge hit points as a mage.
The best race is clearly Redguard. Adrenaline Rush is a once a day godmode button. Best Mage is Breton with Atronach. Best Stealth is Bosmer with Lover. "Strongest finish" is a weird statement considering that any well built level 20 crushes the game. "Torture yourself for 30 hours so you can have the perfect build." Useless. Speed stat between the races is unnoticeable. The game is best played in 1st person so character models are pointless and even if you play in 3rd person, half the helmets cover your face and the rest of the gear has the same looks.
High elf atroncach screams at least a B tier (though I'd argue this class is A for sure, i think of the +10 to enchant and alchemy, you can start the game seeing 3 effects of alchemical ingredients), atronach Breton is A or S tier. I think they achieve what nords do outside of movement speed. Dumner A tier, being the race of the game gives the boost in disposition and they get the moat variety of looks in game. I'm not mad at an S tier Nord, but i think Redguard is the numero uno S tier class of the game. Best power, +15 to long blade means 50 starting out if you want. I think the higher or equivalent strength, endurance and agility means more than the willpower trade off early on. I do think the resist magicka part matters along with the speed. But I also think both can get a similar thing through the atronach sign or max for health with the lady sign.
I could agree with a lot of those rankings depending on the criteria used for rankings. I think that redguards, high elves and bretons have stronger starts than nords, but nords really start to shine towards the end game when your stats are maxed. I hate the way high elves look in morrowind so that is part of the reason why I put them so low..

Breton is BY FAR the best race class because it allows you to wear the Boots of Blinding Speed right from the beginning of the game. This game crawls at the beginning for every class. If you play as a Breton and get the Boots early, you will never play as any other race again. It will just be so slow you won't be able to continue
Any race can wear the boots of blinding speed at level 1 without suffering from the penalties. All that you need to do is make a 100% resist magic spell with a duration of 1 second and equip the boots.
I know not of these boots but I'm loving the slow pace of this game, it's literally what I wanted from Skyrim and what I was able to create in Fallout New Vegas against the game's wishes.
