Man, I feel bad for you. Your favorite character reduced from being a menacing, ruling conqueror, to a jobber of the most pathetic caliber. NRS fucked him up so bad.
@@theretrogamingnerd3316Fr, I thought that was a given, most of the villains are either nerfed to minor treats or were supposed to not even have their powers (Milena, Shang Tsung and Quan Xi, all of them eventually got their powers yes, but from outside influences out of Liu Kang's control), why would he create a treat to himself and his friends by giving Shao Khan his full power? 💀 The guy actually drawed the best of the stick in comparison to Quan Xi and Shang Tsung
I calling Shao Kahn in this game “StephanShao” because he looks like the Josstice League Stephan Wolf and we all know how terrible Josstice League was.🤢
You know I wouldn't mind characters having different moves and fighting styles if there were story reasons. Like how in Tekken Jin changes his fighting style or in Street Fighter Ryu gets better at using the Hado. But Mortal Kombat doesn't seem to have that like why get rid of Liu Kang's bicycle kick
I’m severely disappointed in MK’s writing and direction for the past 4 games now. The amount of soft reboots and resets, half baked ideas and lack of originality have really turned me off of what used to be a story rich franchise riddled with interesting and unique lore. It’s all the same thing with less weight over and over. You’d think with a reset of the universe certain characters wouldn’t exist or may even have different direction. It would’ve really given the franchise a new starting point and a breath of fresh air, instead you take away things like scorpions origin and just flat out make him brothers with sub zero, no explanation to his fire related abilities. Rehash the mileena story line, Shang Tsung is still evil.. This entire game was a missed opportunity, they could’ve really done something interesting with established characters and introduced new characters instead of slightly changing the origins of established ones. It all just feels like a waste of time. When Armageddon was released everyone dying was somewhat impactful the story came to a sort of conclusion, this time around it’s the 3rd time they’ve shown that damn pyramid it in itself is a symbol of the lack of originality in this studio and I’m nowhere near excited for anything else to come.
The customization of the intro/outros in Mortal Kombat 11 was one of the best things in that game. It's sad that they removed that feature. I also wish in the intro dialogs, characters would have 3 lines instead of 2, and that the kameo characters had some kind of dialog also. The kameos don't really say anything at all, they're kind of just there. Even in story mode kameos don't say anything espcially Darius. Why is he in story mode if he literally has no lines whatsoever?
I consider the story pretty shameless in how bad its writing is. It actually holds well for the first few chapters, but everything after that boils down to characters making the dumbest decisions possible, having more contrived reasons to fight with each other, heretically changing massive elements of character plotlines, continues this multiverse garbage that literally has no substance beyond 'member berries and "what ifs" while also simultaneously reducing the stakes, and any interesting plot points that ARE introduced, just like MK11, are swiftly forgotten or played off (Mileena and Johnny probably being the best examples). I've had people act like I'm just a crazy idiot for pointing all of this out and if this was all a spinoff it'd be fine, but the problem is they marketed this as a REBOOT (even though it's a hard continuation of MK11) and made it clear that this is the direction the franchise is taking going forward. And it's not like they can reboot the franchise after this within reason... They called this "MORTAL KOMBAT 1"... So, basically as a long time fan, all it's told me is that this franchise isn't for me anymore, and given I bought literally every game before this including the crappy Mythologies title, that hurts to say. I don't like thrashing Mortal Kombat, but it feels like that one kid you used to be friends with who never really grew up and then when they started to they began making a series of bad life decisions and became someone completely different. As for the redesigns... I hate almost all of them. Reptile is k, Scorpion and Subzero are k, but everyone else ranges from ridiculously bland/uninteresting to absolutely awful. Whoever greenlit Tanya's "redesign" needs to be fired, they had her perfect in MKX.
Although I thought shao Kahn’s character was better than in mk11’s direction of him being a stupid simp for a wife who does not have a shit about and also with him relying on headcanon in order to say he’sdone well in aftermath when he really isn’t. But in saying this, it’s not by much and I really despise what they did with shao Kahn in mk1 (as much as I liked the story only due to the first 2 out of 3 acts). First of all, what’s the point of surpassing his limitations and weaknesses if he is just going to job out to characters who’s not mk-protector-god level? And for giving a backstory, they barely explored it for a guy that’s literally is a rep of the some of the main parts of the plot
