See this comment actually is funny and would be a humorous reason why Geras did not return. He was like Hulk in Infinity War after Thanos smacked him around. He did not want anymore of that smoke, even though he could have come back and POSSIBLY posed a bigger challenge with knowledge of the last fight. Geras was like, "Nah, I ain't taking that heat no more."
Idk why but hearing Shao Kahn talk like a cave man is just unbelievably funny "Observe wife. As I disassemble this construct" "Wife. I have missed you." It's just so alien to how he usually talks and it's the funniest thing ever
he does not speak like a caveman, but like an aristocrat from the Middle Ages. in those days there were no cute nicknames, spouses called each other "husband" and "wife", you can add something like "my dear wife" or "my wise husband", etc. so they talk like two old-fashioned aristocrats. which is logical - both Sindel and Shao are several thousand years old
Funny how them both are very old, yet lack the class, elegance and cultural nature of someone who is even older than them, also way more evil: Shinnok. He is old but he never talks like an old aristocrat, but still you can tell he is royal/divine and old. @@alinakirill
@@romankalaj6224 That doesn't mean he died at all .. Think about it raiden had to throw him into the sea of blood to male sure he wouldn't return... getting his head destroyed isnt shit to him
Although I wasn't a fan of Sindel's retcon, I really liked the idea of Shao Kahn being a bizarrely genuine family man who sincerely loves his significant other despite refusing to call her anything but "Wife".
Only weird thing about it is they didn't need to hide anything from Katana at that point and so she wouldn't have had as much hatred for Shao Khan. She would probably hate her mother more but considering she was dead for like 1,000 years she would have possibly got over it and wouldn't have hated Shao khan as much during that time.
@@rocketmidbus6297 yup, he was enraged. Tbh I wish Mileena could have seen that. Could have given her some happiness if for a moment that she was loved
@@Chaoxide666 Kitana didn't know the truth because Quan Chi killed Sindel and made everyone think that Sindel had committed suicide. Sindel didn't have a chance to tell the truth to Kitana earlier because Kitana was a little girl then. Why didn't Shao Kahn tell Kitana the truth? I don't know.
We seriously needed villain chapters against the heroes to showcase them being a threat. Not just Shao Kahn, Kano, Baraka, Noob, Sektor.... hopefully this continues in future MK games. Curb stomping the good guys as Shao Kahn? Highlight of the whole DLC!
Ok I know all of you think shao khan is strong in the aftermath, but you all can’t remember the fact that geras can NEVER die he is immortal even if his brain got destroyed. The more he dies the more he gets stronger. They have literally forgot that one detail about geras.
I like how Sindel and Shao Kahn genuinely missed each other and love each other. Usually the wife of the conqueror hates him and wants to be free or whatever but Sindel is perfectly happy with things just the way they are and I love it
Yeah. It seems he also had sympathy for Mileena. I know many people, aka The 4th Goddamned Snake, was upsetted by this (what doesnt upset him?), but I think it's kinda neat. Behind all that bloodshed, murder, torture and genocide he genuinely has something to lose and holds his twisted, manipulated creations to the same extent of a family. A family he broken and put back together again, like a true immortal emperor.
It's a massive retcon, for the last 25~ years it's generally been that Sindel is not aligned with evil and submitted to Shao to spare Kitana. Personally prefer the OG but meh
I love when at 0:51 Shao Kahn pets Sindel’s hand while hugging her. Shao Kahn might be a brutal tyrant but he still loves his wife, the only person he respects more than the rest at least.
I'm glad someone noticed this moment! I know a lot of fans make jokes that Shao Kahn calls Sindel "wife" all the time because "he probably doesn't remember her name". But I think the reason is completely different. Perhaps he is using the word "wife", emphasizing that she is not just some random mistress or concubine, no, she is his significant other, his empress, equal to him. After all, in the tens of thousands of years that Shao Kahn has lived, Sindel is truly the only woman he has married.
Anyone else kinda feel a bit sorry for Geras at this point? Guy gets shat on by almost everyone and everything in Aftermath, and doesn't finish a single task that Kronika gives him. Even at the end when he shows up in his shiny new armor and almost pathetically asks Sindel and Shao Kahn for help - he gets his head smashed in for his trouble, instead. xD
I don't think Geras gives a fuck and it's lack of trying. He's exhausted and Kronika won't let him die. Is it fair to speculate that those moments of temporary death are moments of peace for our boy Geras.
@@Dan_Therapist That's a good point and actually kinda makes sense too. In his Arcade ending he even says how he's tired of things being constantly restarted and Kronika not letting him die.
Nah..feel bad for King Jared. His former wife getting PLOWED DAILY by a man who kicked his ass so bad, he literally told his wife; as a King I might add; he’s “Scared and don’t know what to do”… Only to later have his wife and daughter “Conquered naturally by force” before his eyes got met by a 400lbs sledge hammer to the face and died…
Geras in the afterlife: Why didn’t I regenerate? Supervisor: Sorry, we reviewed your plan and it looked like you fell short on your monthly payment so your regeneration was revoked.
Possible explanation for why Geras doesn't show up after this, despite being unkillable. After reforming, he could not catch up to Shao Khan to get through the portal. Kronika was probably too busy to help or car enough to try and teleport him back, so he was just sort of stuck in Outrealm. Not the most dignified way to handle him, but it was either they forgot him or "hurr durr, Shao Khan killed and unkillable guy XD". Side note, Imagine Geras trying to swim to catch up to the ships. Kinda funny, right?
I would assume Geras doesn’t require Kronika to teleport around considering how inefficient it would be for him to constantly need her to teleport him around like a soccer mom but the idea of Geras furiously swimming to Kronika’s Island like Micheal Phelps is incredibly hilarious to me.
@@rynemcgriffin1752 And finally arrives at the throne room just to see Fire God Liu Kang wearing the crown and fighting Shang Tsung - "Kronika I have retur....Fuck! Oh, that's it, I'm becoming a beach somewhere."
@@efreq.6465 He can teleport with his sand. I don't know how it makes sense but he can just show up. He is quite overpowered, I think he just gave up man 😂
Dude, he just take a while to come back. He wasn't dead forever, he would simply come back eventually, but afther that beating it would take some hours. And the rest of the game take less than that to end.
He's survived. He just never returned, same as Frost and Dvorrah. Kronika never sent Frost and Geras to attack Kharon's fleet in this timeline because she was gonna let Shao Khan and Sindel do it for her. Then she just kinda forgot to call them in to help with Shang Tsung.
Shao Kahn is surprisingly a good husband; I was not expecting that. Usually brutal conquerors have multiple wives and use them more as play things or ad a way to have a male heir. Shao Kahn, on the other hand, loves his wife to the point of wanting to split a guy in two for her.
To be honest, Shao never tried to have a "male heir" in this series of games. I mean, he adopted Kitana (Sindel's daughter) first, when Kitana didn't live up to his expectations, he told Shang Tsung to create Mileena, and in MK11 we find out that Scarlet was an orphan who was found and picked up from the streets by Shao Kahn. So he always adopted girls, but for some reason never boys. Why he does not have his own children (at least one), I do not know. The games never explained it.
@@alinakirill i mean he seems to be quite ageless (as in long living), plus the fact that he is pretty strong gives him confidence to think, that he won't need any actual succesors
@@alinakirillprobably the same reason why someone like Onaga didn't have kids, "why tf would I need kids if I'm never gonna not be an emperor" type mentality, when you think your the best theres no need for a sequel type shi, also Mileena was basically his perfect child like he literally had her crafted like it was minecraft. Maybe he even planned to have a kid with Sindel since that's like the main thing he wanted from Edenia anyway but when she.....died he was just like "aight well guess I'ma just stick with Mileena"
@Harvey Specter They did explain it, Sindel was never pleased that her first husband chose a common life over one exercising their power over others. She didn't want to be a 'normal' commoner, she wanted to be a Queen. Shao Khan makes her feel like that Queen. He praises her, fights battles alongside her, and spoils her.

Idk why I love Shao Kahn looking genuinely happy with Sindel in his arms. And not the malicious kind of joy like "now that we are together, we will finally have what we deserve", he looks happy purely in the moment.
If anything Khan was heavily nerfed for almost all of MK11 and thats what people should be upset about. Katana beat him after he was just slightly wounded by Kotal. Now thats something to be angered about and brings the question of why the hell she didn't do it at any point during the 100 years of "enslavement"
@@Chaoxide666Also, this is the same Kitana from MK9. You know, the one who got bodied by Liu Kang, Sonya, Smoke, and Sub-Zero. Hell, Liu Kang toyed with her! And we're supposed to believe she could ever beat Shao Khan! That's a laugh!
Not really I don't think anyone is at least. Shao kahns a powerful dude. It's that geras didn't regen and wasn't in the story for the rest of the run time. He should've regenerated instantly like he did when he died in the fight against the special agents. But NRS. Edit: k found people talking about that and listening to their reasoning ngl I agree with them.
Because kitana won against him earlier and geres is also the same guy that took on nightwolf, fujin and Shang shung all at once I don’t see kitana doing that feat so that’s why it doesn’t make sense by that logic by lazy writing kitana also beats geres as well which I don’t see her doing either.
Geras was a god damn warrior though. This man went up against a God, a Sorcerer and a Shaman all at once. And then he dies to a petty hammer slam? Nice writing, NRS.
@Not so Wealthy Gamer With another birth, Geras would've destroyed him. He seemingly becomes more and more powerful with each death and birth. That's why it makes it easier for him to be defeated at first.
@XTRA V1CI0US he does return but then gets sunken into water by raiden. But you are right shao kahns weapons is very dangerous even with gods in his hands
I'd like to think part of the reason Shao Kahn and Sindel were able to defeat everyone, is cause Shao Kahn, not only healed, but also got stronger then all the souls in the Soul Chamber, and Sindel really backed him up the whole time. I mean there's no clear cut answer on how each of these fights went, only that they won. Its up to the player if they play as Shao Kahn or Sindel, so really, its very possible they worked together for some of these fights. Now I'll admit, I don't got proof, and I'm might be spit balling, or grasping straws, but I feel this makes the most sense.
@@MrDarksword123 not quite...the shao kahn we know brought armaggedon, becoming the one being personified. Her he is just an op warlord with a lust for bad milfs
But still somehow lost to kitana.... after that there's no reason he should be able to beat BUFFED revenant kitana who takes on FIRE GOD Liu....now had they retconned the kitana loss it'd be different
Shao Kahn is badass, but this makes no damn sense. Even Shao Khan would struggle against a time controlling, sand manipulating, immortal construct. They could have AT LEAST had Shao struggle. This isn’t realistic to what would really happen at all. I like Shao, but plot armour really does take the piss sometimes.
XCOSMIC VENOM X lol I’d still like to see him kick Geras’ ass without ‘even struggling’ when he’s powerless and frozen in place and he’s being stabbed to death. Accept that time control is op.
XCOSMIC VENOM X well didn’t Taven give everybody his energy after defeating Blaze? Because I’m pretty sure after taven decided to stay and fight and ended up dying in Armageddon, all the fighters began to get more op
The writers really wanted to make up for Kahn looking like a complete joke, they overcompensated, hell he goes onto decimate Liu Kang someone he has never canonically beaten.
Remember folk, he supposed to be the indestructible terminator that go back in time to do kronika business that had fought countless badass and top tier character and win. Remember this is important. LoL
But he should of had a way harder time dealing with geres as earlier in the same story he took on Shang shung, nightwolf and fujin all at once and almost won so shao losing isn’t to far fetch if the writing just wasn’t everywhere
@@miga8686nightwing fujin and shang tsung are nowhere near shaos level, it makes perfect sense they struggled against geras and only survived because of nightwolf. While shao just fucked him up
