I love how Raiden (despite being enemies with Shinnok) was curious to know that he may have possibly been manipulated into being evil by Kronika based on that one intro dialogue with Kronika which shows how much of a good guy Raiden is since everyone else would not have cared to even ask.
@@defenderofthenorth52same actually. With Cetrion and Kronika being thrown into the lore like this, I'm having a hard time believing Shinok had any real interaction with his family let alone, Kronika's idea of "balance".
@@TheElementsAreWithMe It definitely doesn’t feel like something Shinnok would’ve been cool with 😂 he was saying shit like “the truth of life is death” not “Bow to my mother’s design” I think he was running his own plans
Shinnok wasn’t always much of a fighter he was powerful with the amulet but without it he was kinda weaker being defeated by Liu Kang in the original timeline and in Armageddon was ambushed by Johnny Cage and even Li Mei who overwhelmed him after returning to the Netherrealm even though he was gaining Tavens services and testing him to see how powerful he was
Sad thing is it’s been more or less proven that Cassie and Johnny beating Shinnok doesn’t mean they can beat anybody. Their power is literally designed to combat against gods like Shinnok. Even if Shinnok is more powerful than Shao Kahn (which I go back and forth with, he very well might not be) they couldn’t beat Shao Kahn in the Aftermath story since the power doesn’t protect them against him 😐
@@majungasaurus6814 of course, I’m in no way saying it’s useless. Usually though when someone beats a big boss like Shinnok, that tends to mean they could beat any weaker bad guy, and that ironically isn’t the case here
@@punishercastle5487 except it is useless against people who aren't gods. It's Basically like kryptonite. Very useful against kryptonite, but useless against anything else.
@@Riskofrain527 That is basically what I said in the original comment. Except I certainly wouldn’t say useless. If that were true they couldn’t use their powers against anybody else. Like it’s not like when Johnny does his “energy throw” against someone who isn’t a god that they don’t even feel it y’know? But we are coming from the same place. The dialogues in this vid have Johnny and Cassie saying stuff like “I beat Shinnok, what chance do you have?” And the answer is “ummm they have a good chance. Your powers don’t make you invulnerable to anyone else, and frankly most people on the MK roster could probably beat Shinnok if they had your powers.”
Not likely. If a passing Leviathan could happen to eat Geras into escaping the Sea of Blood, then the amulet is subjected to the same and probably end up on shore.
It just occurred to me, if Kronika could erase Dark Raiden and basically restore him to his MK2 era self, why couldn't she restore Shinnok so he was never beheaded by Raiden?
Whether or not you think Shinnok is a great antagonist in the Mortal Kombat series, there's no question about the fact that he was done incredibly dirty in Mortal Kombat X and 11. He gets imprisoned in his own amulet at the very beginning of MKX, doesn't get released until the near end of the game. After which, despite getting a massive power boost by absorbing energy from the Jinsei, he gets beaten by a kombatant, who couldn't beat Sub-Zero in a 4v1 fight. And comes MK11, where Shinnok is done the dirtiest. Not only did he get tortured and decapitated by Dark Raiden, but he remains that way from the here on out. Hell, not even his own mother Kronika, or sister Cetrion decide to rescue and heal him in order to create their "perfect society with an even balance of light and darkness."
He didn't die in Armageddon. Hell, you could say he's the only one who survived since he used the knowledge of that timeline to fuck things up for everyone in MK9.
Ugh but the story and art is so terrible. Todd McFarlane took a decent 90's antihero and milked it into malnourishment. Go read the later issues and tell me if its something you'd buy in hardcover lol.
You barley know shit about spawn. He killed GOD. Not elder god. GOD. Not titan. GOD. GOD of everything. Man got the powers of GOD. But he gave the power away and got back got his hellspawn powers back
@@olofacosta3192 the reason I say she's stronger is due to Cetrion holding her own against Nightwolf and Sindel at the same time one of those people also has the Green Halo so if she can still kick around Nightwolf even though he has the Green Halo that shows that Cetrion is stronger since Shinnok lost to 2 people with the Green Halo that are not even on Nightwolf's level.
@@chadpeterson5698 you don't seem to know what that green aura is do you? Either way that aura johnny and cassie uses is waay different from nightwolves. Besides shinnok what taking on raiden, fujin, sonya, johnny and kenshi at the same time. Far more impressive feat
@@olofacosta3192 It took the combined power of Shang Tsung, Fujin, Nightwolf and Sindel to so much as drive Cetrion off and Shang Tsung is the most powerful sorcerer in Mortal Kombat that isn't a demigod he even fought Shujinko( the guy who eventually fought and defeated Onaga) to a stand still, Fujin is a demigod who took on Scorpion and Sub Zero at the same time and won single handedly , Nightwolf defeated Sindel who was empowered by Shang Tsung's souls as well as when he lost to Scorpion Nightwolf actually allowed him to win, and Sindel was empowered by the Soul Chamber when she was resurrected again she also is on equal footing with Shao Kahn who well you most likely know what he's capable of. Not to mention Shinnok lost to Cassie Cage single handedly when he was not only Corrupted Shinnok but also had his amulet.
Johnny Cage: “The magic only comes out whenever we’re in heavy danger or if our loved ones are in danger yade yade yade.” Johnny Cage in MKX when fighting Scorpion and Subzero:
Well he should be playable because Shinnok is not even a terrible character. To be honest. Shinnok hasn't been playable since Mortal Kombat 4 and Mortal Kombat Armageddon. I mean I know he was a playable character in Mortal Kombat X but still. That's not enough.
MK13 prediction Shinnok: "Third time's the charm! Now that I have both Johnny and Cassie Cage imprisoned, no one can stop me!" Cassie: "No. There is another." Shinnok: "What!?" Johnny Jr: "S'up?"
9:41 I find it incredibly funny that, when Noob Saibot says that he *once* stole Shinnok's amulet, he lifts exactly one finger. Such a childish expression, though I bet it was accidental xD.
People give raiden too much credit. Raiden and the elder gods had a long war with Shinnok where he ravaged the earth and plunged it into centuries of darkness causing mass extinctions in a long war where the elder gods and raiden narrowly defeated him. Meanwhile raiden and the elder gods quickly disposed of a heavily amped shao kahn in mk9 powered up beyond his own limits by millions of souls and even then he was quickly killed moments after he invaded the earth, meanwhile raiden warred with shinnok for centuries. Raiden could probably defeat shao kahn himself in mk2 if he really tried in a hard fight but cannot interfere as a god in the mk2 tournament which is why he has Liu kang defeat kahn. In mk3 shao kahn is now much stronger and can body raiden if they actually battled. Mk9 is just a repeat of mk1-3 and raiden couldn't defeat shinnok by himself ever. In mk4 he didn't in mkx beginning and end he was easily crushed by shinnok without shinnok even putting any effort whatsoever. Raiden only tortured shinnok after he was captured by sonya and special forces and unconscious. Shinnok was at his weakest without his amulet and raiden now had Shinnoks own elder god powers at his disposal only then did Raiden was able to injure and behead shinnok because he used Shinnoks own elder god powers within his amulet against him. Raiden is at his most powerful here basically elder god level as he has Shinnoks power. Shinnok lost his power as raiden took it which is why he's so weak in mk11. With Shinnoks powers,he would easily crush at least the mk2 version of shao kahn in mk11's story had they battled
Cassies text msg to jacqui when fighting kotal says " he aint no samurai, jac" which is a reference because kotal is voiced by the same voice actor as samurai jack😂
@morde kaiser im pretty sure onaga is stronger than shao considering that he had to poison him. They we're both referring to the power of blaze in which if either onaga or the edenian brothers would've gotten, it would result shao kahns death. Overall it goes shao
@@olofacosta3192 actually Shao Kahn killed Onaga in Armegetton. But you could say that Shao Kahn wasn't strong enough to actually kill him 1 v 1 in a fight AT THE TIME.
@@chadpeterson5698 we have no idea how shao did it. Considering that deception shao kahn needed poison swords to kill onaga the chances are that he is still weaker than onaga. My guess is that onaga killed a clone of kahn but that the real shao killed him later with power of blaze. Otherwise the writing would contradict itself.
@@olofacosta3192 the reason he didn't go after Onaga again in Deception is due to him trying to gather power and influence back. Also his focus wasn't on Onaga at the time.
@@garcia0246 no but get a better explanation. For example imagine if we switched the endings of mk9 and mkx. In mk9 before shao kahn is able to kill raiden johnny comes in with the glow and kicks him. He then heals up raiden and you get a tag team of raiden and johnny. After a tough fight between the three the elder gods eventually interfere and kill shao kahn. Now enter mkx glow johnny fights shinnok without his amulet and beats beats him but this time its much more believable. And then with cassie you have her get empowered by the elder gods against corrupted shinnok and it not only makes more sense but makes shinnok look powerful And that was juat one alternative. The other could be to just not make shinnok that powerful
Yes Cassie you beat Shinnok you can shut up about it now, besides it was only thanks to magical deus ex machina powers that only work on elder gods against anyone else you'd be screwed.
If my OC was in the game, characters would say this. Fujin: I have met your father, Marthias. John Monstrous Marthias (ME): I would fight for him and mother and for my God. Fujin: You have proven worthy of being his heir. John Monstrous Marthias (ME): Kronika murdered my parents, Cetrion. Cetrion: Then, have faith in her and they'll be restored. John Monstrous Marthias (ME): Like heck I'm gonna betray God. Spawn: You don't know what you're doing. John Monstrous Marthias (ME): Kronika needs to face God's Justice, Al. Spawn: Go home, John. You've done enough damage. Robocop: How can I help you, Marthias? John Monstrous Marthias (ME): I seek help against Kronika, Murphy. Robocop: Are you sure you know what you're doing? Scorpion: Do not live by Vengence, Young Marthias. John Monstrous Marthias (ME): Kronika needs to die, Hanzo. Scorpion: Exactly, my point, kid. Nightwolf: Soon, you will be the next king of Edenitus. John Monstrous Marthias (ME): Got any advice for me, Nightwolf. Nightwolf: A good cheif gives, he doesn't take.
