I'd have to 50/50 agree with you, Cole Young did end up having a bit too much screen time to where it messed up giving Lui Kang and other characters more of an inclusion in it altogether.. But I did like the fact that Cole was a descendant of Scorpion, basically having the main character be from like Scorpion's family/clan, cuz Scorpion was always my favorite even tho a lot of Ppl liked Sub-Zero more so that was dope in a way, but for sure they gotta balance the screen time in MK2.. Excited to hear Quan-Chi is finally gonna make an Intro. in a movie for the first time tho, Quan-Chi was just different, really giving the Crazy/Sorcerer vibes

Me too! He's my favorite mortal combat character! I would of cast Scott Adkins. His martial arts are ridiculously good and his acting has vastly improved over the years. 😊👍🏽
Cole did have little too much screen time, but I liked how he was from Scorpion's fam/clan.. Always liked Scorpion more than Sub-Zero.. Yes, Lui Kang should have more spotlight but no Cole shouldn't die, just balance screen time more
“Raiden” from big trouble in little china was more of a radian than the one in any mortal kombat movie. If they could do that in 1986 just imagine what they could do now
@@stevebrown985 nah I agree with him and parts of this video completely, Cole & arcana was/is completely unnecessary as like 98 percent of character’s abilities have their own explanation & they just made Cole up for the movie. MK itself already has a VAST story outline they could’ve stuck to. Overall I’d say the movie was above average, and especially compared to the other movies it’s great. All WB has to do is somewhat follow the already canon story and they have an entire saga on their hands. With the whole initial timeline from the early games to deadly alliance thru Armageddon then it being a flashback with 9 changing the story for a different outcome bring us all the way up to 1 with the new timeline. Could EASILY make 9 movies. 3 movies per saga

People arguing, old vs new? You don’t have to choose? You can enjoy the 1995 classic, and still enjoy the new ones. Maybe not as much, but who cares if it’s not as good. Most things don’t compare to the classics. Luckily you don’t have to choose, no one is saying “if you like the new Mortal Kombat Movies, you can never watch the 1995”

I feel like Cole was added in order to have someone the characters we knew explain what is going on to. Like if it were just Sonya looking for Jax there wouldn't have been the whole explanation of the tournament going on for centuries and so on. That's the only excuse i can come up with for Cole, is that he is the guinea pig used to explain some lore to
also he helps with scorpions back story. I fw Cole and I think he's a good character. also since Kano dipped for shang sun, without Cole it'd only be Lui Kang, Sonya, and jax fighting and we wouldn't have had the ending fight between scorpion and sub zero. people are acting like he had no purpose through out the movie.
They could have stuck with the original story and been fine. Even the story from the games are better. I can't even remember the names of his wife and kid lol

I heard from Jax actor there are 26 fight scenes from different characters in the new movie. It's a fight almost ever 8 minutes the movie. So I'm happy for that.but yeah. Cole Young was not needed. Make Liu Kang the main character man
Some are speculating that it will drop by next year. We could be getting a small teaser trailer some time this fall, and maybe a red-ban flesh out trailer sometime early next year.

I hope that this sequal does better then the last one. I really like the animated movies and I want an animated TV series that is better then the 90s one that was all about MK3. If they are at a lost for ideas then they should go back to the first timeline and animate decption and Armageddon that would be really cool. I just hope that Quan chi does magic and fighting rather then just be a background character.
Everyone always struggles telling the MK story or depicting the way everyone wants to see. Just make a 3.5 hour MK movie and give everyone what they want.
Now what we really need is a mortal kombat film based off the first 3 games at the most… 1 & 2 for sure… with all the iconic original levels & characters tied in… oh yeah and directed by ***QUENTIN TARANTINO*** 😂 now that would make us all happy… also how about an actual tournament in the film?! 🙏… i can dream, can’t I?
I don't trust Ed since he is just a simple guy who easy to be pleased. He once state he love MK Rebirth and Legacy, which let be real this two story pretty much mess up actual MK lore as well. Is obvious that Ed is fans of comics story style, hence why he approve the abomination of multiverse bs story in MK1. He might as well like Cole Young too. Only Tyler Lansdown admit that he doesn't want anything from MK2021 into their game when people ask him about Cole Young.
@@mortalkombatarcadelover4479 If you mean the previous MK2021, Ed Boon did state during interview with Game Informer that he read the script. From what we saw of how the movie turn out, I doubt Ed got anything to say or give input to the script. Greg Russo even admit he know too well how MK fans will react when the movie will focus on some original character, and Liu Kang is just a side character. Greg even openly admit he has too blocked some outrages people on Twitter bcoz of that. There is one podcast, I forgot what channel do, but Greg state that it was WB demand to do original character as the main hero, and he try to justify this MK2021 as part of one of the new timeline that has been created by the Fire God Liu Kang. But consider that Tyler Landsdown state they don't want anything to do with MK2021 stuff, I guess majority of NRS team doesn't really count MK2021 as part of their multiverse canon.
And one other thing when the first movie was released it was sort of a disappointment, no mk tournament, alot of the bad guys died to fast ,unnecessary characters such as cole young,a few accurate costumes and the story wasnt to eye catching the only cool thing about the movie was subzero and scorpion which that story could have explained more so hopefully no disappointment for this next movie hopefully it lives up to the hype
I like to think Cole was only there so the main characters we are use to had a excuse to explain things to. Like when Sonya explained all the stuff about the tournament and whatnot. And Shang Tsung saying death is just a gateway, I feel Goro is gonna come back better, we got Noob coming, and Kano with his metal plate over his eye. Melina is merely a clone so she'll be back, Kabal was already burnt to hell so he'll probably be back, maybe even just as a revenant, Nitara I don't know, she might have been fodder. And yeah lack of tournament sucked, but I'm hoping this movie was like the tutorial and first few chapters of the games, and next movie will have one
@@jordanallen8848 That kind of makes sense, it's like they had someone to explain things to and Lui Kang was already time-skipped like up to date on everything instead of the start of his story where everyone else had to tell Lui what the whole deal was.. No tournament was a bit disappointing but they might've just held out on that so they can have it in MK2.. I liked the first one, just needed to balance the screen time more cuz Cole Young ended up making the other mains have really little screen time
Video game movies don’t always do well. There’s too much to cover with little time… what they need to do is just focus on one or two characters. Focus on Scorpian and subzero and then following sequels would build from there
I really have no idea why modern movie makers are so obsessed with remakes of the original movies or making entirely new movies completely unrelated to the original ones. The reason why that "Mortal Kombat" movie in 2021 was so hated and disliked is because Mortal Kombat already had 2 consecutive brillian movies: Mortal Kombat 1 (1995) and Mortal Kombat 2 Annihilation (1997). You could have just made a third sequel of the past 2 movies and it would have turned out way better than this weird crap of a movie in 2021
I hope that the sequel to the Mortal Kombat movie will get either IP man Donnie Yen or Mortal Kombat 1 game Bi Han''s face model Satoyu, who acts as a model, also Noah Fleder would be a good trump card for Kuai Liang''s role in my opinion!. As far as i know, Kuai Liang''s role has not been released yet because i have heard rumors that Kuai Liang is not in the sequel of Mortal Kombat 2 but only in the third sequel of Mortal Kombat when Kuai Liang gets a hint that his brother has been killed and he goes to look for the culprit!. Hopefully Kuai Liang will get more attention and everyone''s attention when he eventually steps into the spotlight!!!
I would love to see MK movie sequel do better but I just doubt it. Rarely any movie get better sequel then original and I just don't have faith in production that they know what they should doing. WB is huge but I don't know if they can make great franchise what MK deserves to be.
Lui kang must be made the central character and as the chosen one. Without the "chosen one" character, MK franchise is dead. Original movie is still the best.
I don't get how people don't understand Cole was created so they could introduce the characters without focusing too much on 1 character. I predict Cole will die in the next film and the focus will shift to liu Kang. Heck Cole might Even become the next scorpion

When had scorpion been the main guy he’s a badass secretive mysterious character wich was cool and btw scorpion was always my guy,lui kang has always been the guy should’ve kept original plot he’s oblivious let kung lou take that role as elder etc Cole really threw a curve in everything and a whack boring character seriously a terrible character
The opening scene was badass but the movie in its entirely was still watchable. I guess they can only get better and better. Still beats Street fighter movie from the 90s lol.. but not the manga street fighter!

I did not like what they did with Raiden in the 2021 movie. I hope they recast him. Mechad Brooks was perfect casting for Jax, but his character always gets dumbed down and underdeveloped in every iteration. And, they totally threw Goro away!! If WBD is going to make this franchise a success, they need to keep their corrupt corporate hands and incompetent puny little minds off and away from it!!!! Just hire the right talent and let them work. They have done too much damage beyond repair to DC.
The movie had so many good points as far as the violence that is mortal kombat, I really think they should just kill off Cole young right from the jump and basically throw out the previous idea. It would be a great intro to a a quan chi villain.
Lu kang and raiden are and always will be the face/heart of mortal kombat and scorpion, sub zero and the others are 2nd front supporting characters for the purpose of giving the story line more depth.......so whoever says that scorpion is the face of MK dont know sht about mortal kombat
Mortal Kombat is awesome movie in my opinions plus 2 elements including stories brutality and Fatalities in movie, it’s upset that Kung Luo gets killed into film, but Raiden has fights in storyline, remaking of movie is different from original stuff. Bring in Katana, Johnny Cage more fighting scenes from stories as well including new villains including too
